    Awesome vid! So the material inside the watch is steel and brass right? Not gold?

      Adventure-Andrew Is it the same for all watch brands? Because Patek and AP claim that its gold. The reason why I ask is because I cant wear any gold.

    All nicely made, but mostly done my machine, and a bit of hand work. They seem well made, but it becomes hard to justify the prices that they charge for something so relatively simple.

      all the machine and personnel working there are expensive, someone had to sit infront of the computer more than they should to program and draft out the dimensions and movement for the CNC to operate, not to mention the material so on and on

      took the words out my mouth. I appreciate all of it. The finishes, the details, complications, research and development etc...but at the end of the day I think the watch industry is having a laugh. They are joking us with the prices and I guess if there is people who pay for them they will keep raising the prices. There's no justification for the super high prices. Btw, I own a couple of relatively expensive watches. Yeah, They'''ve caught me..

    sooo, looks like 90% of all the work is done by robots, so, where's the craftsmanship and value? it looks like the actual price to these mass produced watches is about $100, it's ridiculous to pay more.

    • @dimitrisg1374
      @dimitrisg1374 7 років тому +5

      +kk Hong well the bad thing in this video is that it doesnt really show how the mechanism is made but just how the parts are made. I not trying to sell you that Im an expert, I wear a swatch but Im an enthusiast and I know a lot about automatic watches.
      Yes the PARTS of a luxury watch are made by computers so that they are precise. its the assembly and the time spent on the mechanism that makes the watch expensive.
      Like building a masive lego... the parts are made by a mold but the artwork is hand made

    • @Feastalisk
      @Feastalisk 7 років тому +1

      Yes, it would be ridiculous to pay a hefty price for just the parts shown manufactured in the video but the actual works(or value) goes to the watchmaker who spend ton of time to make sure that every SINGLE components(emphasized lol) of the watch work perfectly, and by that I mean they have to do many tests. It's not just knowing what parts go where(which already a heavy workload in itself) but to know if the resistance, the recoil, the frequency that the movement should be and much much more that I've no idea about.

    • @SpaghettiKillah
      @SpaghettiKillah 6 років тому

      "no one in the watch industry respects them"...says the idiot.
      FACTS: Panerai is part of the Richemont SA Group of watch brands that includes A. Lange, IWC, Jaeger-LC, Piaget, Vacheron and many others. How's that for respect? LOL
      Group revenue for 2017 was 10.6 BILLION €. 2nd largest luxury company IN THE WORLD.
      Sales are up every year at Panerai.....they now make their own in-house movements. New Panerai exclusive boutiques are opened every year worldwide to satisfy the demand.
      Based on these FACTS...joke's on you.
      P.s. given how little you know about the watch industry I can bet my house you never owned a Panerai LOL

    and nowadays you can get cheapass watches where the gears are made form plastic - and not only do the last for couple of years, they are just as on time as those 30 000$ clocks.
    Then there are those made with ceramics and titanium - still cheaper than this, and rugged like hell.
    And then we come to the cheap electric watches that just beat the crap out of any mechanical in terms of accuracy.
    Mechanical watches are nothing more than jewelry nowadays.
    Big, heavy, expensive, and nothing else.

    • @BrawndoQC
      @BrawndoQC 8 років тому +2

      +ABaumstumpf If you're to wear a watch in 2016, better wear an expensive one. Time is everywhere, in you car dashboard, on your phone, on your computer.. You can also go from point a to point b with a crappy car, and you can live in a van down by the river.. I like my Rolex.

      *"If you're to wear a watch in 2016, better wear an expensive one."*
      Great argument - if you use a watch, better waste all your money instead of getting another far cheaper and better watch that looks just as good :D
      Well, maybe you have the fun of losing it :)

      +ABaumstumpf you're paying for the craftsmanship bro, and mechanical watch can easily beat the crap out of quartz if adjusted properly, and remember: mechanical watch litterally last forever, a cheapass quartz will fail you after 5~10 years, without counting the battery changes

    Panerai watches are overpriced. The shitty thing is that their mechanisms are based on 1950s pocket watches. The watches are simply turned 90 degrees with the small dial at 9 o'clock rather than the 6 o'clock position. So don't get conned by so called Panerai quality or craftsmanship.

  • @titoyolo240
    @titoyolo240 6 років тому

    I don't see why the producers found Panerai instead of A.Lange for this episode. Assembly does not count. All the parts and decorations are made by machines. Its cheap and boring
