Metallica's intro with Jason bass playing To live is to die is still a classic. And when James came back on stage and started playing with him that to me was electric. By the time Metallica played Master of puppets the whole crowd lost their minds and everyone did their parts perfectly.
There is space between james and Jason. That is Cliiffs place
That part always gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I listen to it, RIP Cliff
Jason em all
This is how we did it back in the day, from the best show of Metallica ever recorded.
I think this concert was the best concert of any band ever recorded.Just my thoughts.
I saw Metallica probably 10 or 12 times. Every show was fire
@@brianjones5862 that's because they are Metallica and they always deliver.
James Hetfields voice was such a strong, powerful sound from....I'd say either late 1986 or early 1987 to 1996. Lost some of that power in his voice in 1997 to 1999. Then got some power back in 2000. Last time James had a constant power voice was from, 2003 to 2005. After that, it's been losing more and more power.
@@nexpro6118 I have to say that James's voice sounds strong now. He sounded great on Hardwired especially songs like "Atlas Rise!" and "Spit Out The Bone". He also sounds good on "Moth Into Flame" and "Halo On Fire".But he was so aggressive and powerful in the 80's. He never sounded like he lost a bit of power in those days.
Since 'Master of Puppets' was Cliff's favourite song, and 'To Live is To Die' was a tribute to Cliff, I always like to think that that the intro was them saying "Hey Cliff, may I have your attention for a while? Here comes your favourite track, enjoy it my friend".
And in the intro james and jason have space between them. It was Cliffs spot.
Did James scream "wake up fuck" at the end for Cliff also?
This song just so happens to be really popular right now because of Stranger Things season 4. Of course it was already a legendary song and didn't need any publicity to be acclaimed but it was still a pretty cool scene.
Yeah that scene was amazing
🤦♂️
Master of Puppets was added to the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress... It was added to the registry of works that are “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” A bit before Stranger things 4....?
@@wynandmorgan9985 I didn't say that the song became famous after Stranger Things. What I said is that at this moment the song is trending amongst younger, non-metal crowds.
@@jinzoslegions o, you meant to say it's trending now among the younger people who does not know Metallica... Totally agree on that! Props to shows like Stranger things who take amazing artists/songs unknown to the new generation seriously! Keeping it 💯!!!
I was at Key Center Arena ... front row !
At 8:31... with my glasses. ;-)
Seattle '89.
Lucky!
You guys outta see "Creeping Death" from this show, with Jason just KILLING that last "So let it be written, so let it be done" part....He just gets to GROWLING!!!!
Jason’s vocals were so freaking epic!!!!
Jason was the best
I was 17 years old when I went to this concert. Brings back memories.
One moment for Cliff Burton R.I.P.
This is the best live of Metallica !
There might be better performances this is just the best footage of that era.
This energy was insane, Jason was always on fire 🔥🔥🤘🤘💪
The album of my adolescent youth. Now I am 50 years old and still loving it! Also loved Stormtroopers Of Death (SOD)
Best Metal song ever. Best crowd. Best live show. Best performance. Best metal band of all time easily.
My absolutely favorite Metallica time period, just at the height of their powers. And they set that bar so F'N high.🖤 🤘😃👍 🔥
This will always be my favorite Metallica song.
Listen to that intro gave me chills. Forgot about that. Last time i heard that was the last time i listen to that tape in 1990.
Great tour.
Saw them on this tour, forever burned into my memory.
Epic show 🤘
That song is all really in the hall of fame for metal legendary performance!!!!
Great reaction! Love your enthusiasm. Check out Battery from the same concert. Its definitely some next level energy shit.
Check out the entire concert, the energy is amazing, the speed is amazing, the whole concert start to finish is just insane!
1989 for Metallica was like 1989 for Michael Jordan. They both went on to achieve more extraordinary things and continued to grow in their crafts. But this was the year they both were in their "athletic primes." Jordan could jump over anything, and James' voice was at its peak. This was the last year he used it with reckless abandon on every live show. He left it all out on the stage night after night.
The song at the beginning was TO LIVE IS TO DIE. At 4:28 starts MASTER, MASTER (OF PUPPETS)
Goat song, album, band, show. Legendary!
The Gods who rule The Universe of all Music 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘. Saw them one month ago in Copenhagen…..killing it like nobody’s business 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘. Not bad done by four men at 60 / close to 60 🔥🔥🔥
This was the best time for metal.
What they are playing at the beginning is part of To live is to die, on Justice for All
I'm a fan from Metallica since 1986 and i was a very big fan from the begining ! Than 2004 i seen them live in the Olympic Stadion in munic ! This was the luckyest day in my life, i'll never bevor feel so good like on this day ! I got a big gift from Metallica, the very best time in my life ! Greatings and love from germany ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Seen them live 3 times and they put on a really good live show, first time was in Spokane WA for the Monsters of Rock tour in 1988 with Van Halen and the Scorpions
Master Newsted! 🤘🤘🤘
It’s so awesome that Jason got to do this song his way. He deserved it. 🤘
Love the channel guys just wanted to let you know that there is a contingent of people from Belfast NORTHERN IRELAND that really enjoyed this video and some of your other videos and we are loving the vibe and your own material as well!!!! ☘️☘️☘️☘️👍👍👍👍
simply fantastic for all us metalheads out there
I loved this show so much. I was there. Wound up in the circle pit a few times. This was the ...And Justice For All tour when it hit here in Seattle. One of the best shows I've ever seen live. Right up there with when I saw Faith No More and Living Colour live at the Paramount Theater here in Seattle. This was when a Metallica show was OFF THE CHAIN! This wasn't too far off from when the fastes and heaviest thing you could see live was Poison or Motley Crue. So the people that made this show were die hard, true underground Metal fans for the most part. It was in-SANE!
Ahhhh!!! You're reactions to Metallica always make my day a better day!
Eddie Munson brought me BACK here
"This IS music!!!!"
Amazing!! 💛💛💛💛💛
I was in that crowd. Closest I got was 5 or 6 ppl in from of me.
I don't remember the other bands 😁
That got heavy real quick! Love the intro!
I was at that show. My BDay present. 3 mosh pits going at all times!
James voice was so powerful during this era!!!!! AAAAAHHHHH...... I miss it!!!!
We need a directors cut with this song, its an exact fit
I love that Snare!!!
I love You guys is very good to watch Metallica videos with your reacción
At this point in the set Jason had just done a blistering bass solo, he really threw himself into it; this section of "To Live Is To Die" before "Master Of Puppets" was probably to give Newsted a bit of a breather before more intense playing.
Da igual cuando, donde, como escuches esta canción,es una obra maestra🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
My first concert was Metallica in the summer of 1987.Yes I am old af🤣.
The tail end of the Puppets tour, it made me a metalhead and a life long Metallica fan.

BIRTH
SCHOOL
METALLICA
DEATH
Back when they were killer! Their precision is insane! This is the song I use to test the stereos in new cars! LOL /m\
Such was my childhood... I grew up at these shows... I was 12 or 13 the first time I saw them play at Ruthie's in the bay. Mustaine was still in the band... lol
I was at this show,...13years old😎
Riffs masterclass!!!
I still miss Jason Newstead...the REAL Bass Powerhouse for the Band at that time....so bad how they treated him and kicked him out of the Band.....
Newsted dejó la banda no lo hecharon.
He left
@@adrianmarceloflores8472 He was good as out anyway!!
If you want older Metallica check out garage days revisited.
masterpiece
This was is the prime of metal. I saw Metallica on the previous tour and the Justice tour this show was from. They were just a killer thrash band. They stopped being thrash after the Black album, so I got to see the real Metallica. 🤘😎🤘
I saw them 3 days in a row on this tour. What’s crazy is that as a 20 year old college student, I could afford tickets for all 3 days. I probably paid less for the first 10+ times I saw them back then combined than the last time I saw them with my son a couple of years ago.
Intro was to show respest and tribute his brother cliff burton (main bass player) who died in a bus accident rip legend
I've seen Metallica 7 times. And each time was awesome and different.
This Seattle '89' concert is Metallica's BEST performance
Best recorded one yes, but best overall? highly doubt it.
THE FUCKING KINGS🤘🤘🤘
We miss you Cliff! 🤘🤘🤘
это реально the dest !!!
You need to show a live version with Cliff Burton RIP 🙏.
My favorite Metallica concert ever!!!
Jasons neck was the fifth member of metallica.
This is an actual song called to live is to die. Huge tribute to cliff.
I have followed them and been a huge fan since 1980. They only get stronger as the years go by. But damn if I don't miss the long hair, liquor, and bad asssery of them early years.p
they're still great live, still tight, JH still sounds amazing but those 86-91 shows were something else! you guys would've loved that shit 🤘🏻🥰
The last great Metallica tour. Saw them a couple of times on the Justice tour. Mosh pits everywhere. Then saw them on the Black tour and it was do subdued. The shows would drag out so much people actually left. But I have awesome memories of the early days. They have never emulated the aggression in arenas like old shows. They were hungry. Now it's by the numbers.
I would say, Metallicas last greatest tour was in, 1997 in Forth Worth Texas.
@@nexpro6118 hope was an awesome show.
Damn I miss this band! The group known as Metallica today is a shell of what we see in this video. It is not about age as a number but the lack of the attitude, desire, and energy. This was truly amazing and makes me so sad it is gone.
You missed the end, with a final bass solo dedicated to Cliff
You guys see the gap between James and Jason? In the beginning. They left it in purpose. It is for Cliff.
MASTER.......MASTER!!!!!!
Do harvester of sorrow 1989 live seattle
the greatest song EVER
so weird sometimes hearing James sing the entire verses lol.
Were you guys born in '89???
I saw them in '88 - first time I ever moshed! 🤘
Hi Dolly 😍
Hi Guys FYI Lililac does q cover of this song
The start isn't part of puppets it was from to live is to die straight from Jason's bass solo
The first part was a dedication to their falled bandmate Cliff Burton RIP To Live is To Die. check out the Roskilde version of this with Cliff, from Cliff em All. Better than all the Seattle versions for me because that the Classic Metallica
Why does the guy blink so much lmao
The date I am going to see Metallica Jon and Dolly is the 28th
33 god damn years ago. I was there, not this show, same tour.

REACT METALLICA ONE SEATTLE 89 PLIS PLIS PLIS ❤️❤️😭😭😭
Metallica as it´s Best
WHY?
i like megadeth better but this one hell of a show
I feel sorry for people growing up in the 2020s… their music is garbage and ours rocked. 😉
...and Metallica did not justice for Jason. Fckng shame.
Kirk Hammett is lead guitar . The lead singer is garbage lol
Oh shit!!
Sooooo maaany people do not agree with you.
He looks like James from 2008
