Another cracking vlog! Sitting in Glenmore Campsite in Aviemore just now in the van and chillin, with a wee glass of vino. I gave you three likes, one for the new chair, another for the Aeropress! I'm doing a video on that one soon! A third like for the fire pit, we've got one in the van... Top tip, alway have a cheap fire log from B&M or Tesco to get the thing going. It's stays lit for an hour so you can use it solo if you just want a quick fire.... Amazeeeeezing! Speak soon. 🔥🔥🔥
Checking the nuts on the pop top is a good idea. We arrived on site with the rain hammering down and as i raised the pop top one of the nuts and washers come off. So the roof went down on one side. The nut was the one at the hardest possible place to get to. Some hour later with much swearing and soaked to the skin i managed to get it back. luckily i always carry a small tool kit and the right spanner and also now spare nuts and washers. also check the nuts and bolts regularly.
You are so right, it is the little things. I got my van in July and recently I was on a site hooked up with my new low wattage kettle, and it was so exciting and enjoyable using an electric kettle. I thought I wasn't going to need a step to get in the back but after two months clambering in an out I realised I did, it arrived today and I tried it out and its up there with the kettle.
Thanks enjoyed. My hubby thought buying me the van would be the end of spending......... hahahaaaaaaa always say it’s not just a van it’s the lifestyle it brings with it. Happy new year and here’s to new memories created this year. Xc
Happy new year ! Glad you took a break Love the carpet in the cab - might have to copy that one - looks cosy as - Much swearing happened 😂😂 Poo bauble’s 🤣 you make me chuckle
Good idea with the phones down day. Couple of things you might be interested in. Last year when away we got some "Flamers Natural Firelighters". Ended up handing some out to others at the campsite as everyone was struggling. Guess the wood was a bit wet but those fire lighters were fantastic and quickly got the fire going with just one. Other one is I got a rechargable hand warmer a while back. Just charges from USB and also works as a power bank for charging devices. Shown a few people it and they've been impressed. I sometimes stick mine in the bottom of my sleeping bag to warm my feet 😊
I use a 350ml portable coffee French press thing when I am out and about in my camper which is awesome as you can make the coffee and it is also a flask. Great bit of kit. The aero press are awesome bits of kit. I am the same, I need my coffee fix each day. Great videos and look forward to them. Hopefully bump into you at some point at a VW meet.
Lovely to see Branston again 💕🐾. Your van looks great - you have done a really good job of everything esp. the cab carpeting - must have been quite fiddly. Looking forward to the next videos again. 💕🐾
Aero Press, everyone should have one, it should be written in camper van law 🤣🤣I don't know why it took me so long to get one 🤣🤣! I think I'll still use the bigger pit on longer breaks but it's ace to always have a pack away pit in the van for impromptu fires!
I was born in Otley but moved many years ago ,will defo being making a trip soon back to the Chevin looks some great walks for the dog, nice to see Branston out with you.The folding table looks good if you come across another supplier could you post Thanks.
Hot water bottles are great, but can use a lot of water (that you can’t reuse as it goes “rubbery”). I find using a small kids size hot water bottle uses only just over a litre. Also get a cover for it, this allows you to use slightly hotter water in it without any risk of burning you at night, and the higher temperature water makes up for the reduced volume in the smaller bottle - mine is still warm after 6 or 7 hours in my Duvalay. Glad you and the family had a break over Christmas and the new year, but it’s nice to have you back too.
Been spending all evening watching campervan essentials videos and you popped up another at just the right time. I have birthday money to burn! Our van is having a major overhaul (again, perks of owning a t25) so looking for new ideas we never bothered thinking about for the last 10 years!
Great video as usual , love everything you have done to the van and your new stool is a great addition to your equipment, looking forward to seeing more from you through 2022 - HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all 👍😊😄
Hi Colin. Just watching the latest vid and I have a tip :) Noticed that you had Aeropress filters. The paper ones. Don’t waste your time with them any longer. Buy a stainless steel filter, I think about £10 ? Never look back if you use the aeropress on a regular basis. :) ta
lovely to see you back after your break Colin. I loved the portable firepit. hopefully my van will be finally finished end of January and I can do some adventures with my camera gear too. I've literally nt used my D850 since the first lockdown! Looking forward to more videos from you. Happy New year to you and the family.
Thank you for rescuing Saturday Night. My wife is watching "The Masked Singer." Needed to watch something else. Headphones on...done. one question, did you do a video for the shelf above the sink? Thinking of doing one for mine. Also, what's the colour of the carpet?
Happy New year Colin & family. .Wasn't sure about the stability in the fire pits as been thinking of buying one for a while but after the demonstration I've bitten the bullet, there so compact. .You've done a good job on the kitchen Shelve it looks great & plenty space for the all important DOC mug,I couldn't force myself to pay daft money for one either so had made one a few years back with off cuts. .Any links provided to the little pop up table please?,found a few but love the dampered effect on that one & can't find the link.. ..Anyway Keep up the good videos..All the best👍
Happy New year Guys! Great vid. Have you been to stump cross caverns near patley bridge? They welcome wild camping in vans and the views are amazing…especially when it’s snowed like today. Plus brecki in the morning from cafe!
Hi, we don't have an opening window in kitchen area. Thinking of getting window changed, but, have seen some negative comments re windows not sealing properly and allowing water in when it rains, any ideas, opinions, advice re type/model/make. Kind regards Carolyn
Hey mine is a camper glass one (fitted by c&h pop tops) and it's been brilliant for us... We open it loads in summer to let the air flow and if we are cooking in the van too to let the smells out
How do you secure Branston for travelling? My daughter’s dog will probably come with us when we get our van and I have no idea how to keep him safe (and legal, apparently your insurance is void if pets not secure?). His harness clips to the seatbelt in the car, is it the same in the van? Thanks 😊
Please can you tell me how you have fitted/secured you shelf cupboard to the van. I have exactly the pop top as you from the same place (after seeing yours) it is driving me mad as I don't know how to fix to the van. Please help Colin!!
Hey buddy, its not that straight forward im affraid and is a total boggle on the mind... I basically screwed a support peice of wood to the body work (on the support struts) then attached the base frame of the cupboard (I had built separately) to that, then I attached that to ceiling (with short but fat screws) - That would have kept it in place but to be on the safe side, I screwed 4 x screws from inside the cupboard out in to the shelf (the cupboard with the sliding door). After that I popped a leg on the lef hand side of the "floating cupboard" and attached that to the cupbard behind the chair... I do hope that makes sense.. I didnt do a video on it as it was a Christmas project where we were taking some time off making videos!!
Hey David, I have been speaking to Jo at Dub Styling and she's getting them back in stock, so keep an eye out! The LED switch style lights, which ones do you mean bud?
Oh and I literally bought an aeropress for my husband for our anniversary and it arrived and he opened it today! He absolutely loves it already! Even more than our home delonghi! Great purchase! Still contemplating a fan. Any tips on outside drinks holders for when sitting Al fresco? Our seats are too low for our table. Or maybe I'm a short arse!
Ah thats awesome, I bet he's going to get a lot of use out of it. I am going to explore the outdoor cup holder thing as I'm sure there is something brilliant out there! When I do, it will definitely be in a future video
Hey ya, Loving the tips & recommendations you provide, have purchased a few items & am really happy with everything so far. Can you keep us all updated on the fire pit please ? A friend got a similar one last year & the mesh started to split after 4 uses, really want to get one but am apprehensive so will await your review after you've used it a few times.....cheers :-)
Hiya, yes its from Dub Styling but I'm not sure they do them any more sadly! I'm chatting with Jo (ar dub styling) to see if she'll get them back in stock!
Great video again. Just got into the van life myself just about finished my conversion. Love watching you videos. You have my sense of humour. Lol. Didn't realise you are local to me, I'm in Harrogate. Do you know of any van meets around here or up and coming ones.
Ah thats ace, we have probably waved around each other at some point 🤣🤣! If you join Shire Dubs on Facebook they usually do Yorkshire meet ups (not super local to us though sadly) - hopefully see you out and about for van chat and coffee
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Joined shire dubs, just awaiting approval. Yes be cool to meet up at somepoint for chat a coffee, but not your walks 😉 lol.
Good video, will def try cracking a window before going to sleep in the van. So much condensation over our Hogmanay travels. Out of curiosity, how much fresh water do you take with you and how long does it last when your away with the family. Keep up the good work and stay safe
Its also super safe to crack a window open if there are a few of you in the van too! We take about 10l in the under sink bottle (for boiling and washing) 5L in the green tub and another 10L in a circular water dispenser. That usually lasts us (3 plus dog) about 2 days... ;)
Just a quick comment, do not have your little fan blowing over your co detector, it can dilute a reading and can be fatal, no vents or windows close to detector including fans
Great advice matey, yep you're right, it's in that place for storage (I don't switch it on there) I move it to nearer the stove/window to push out the fumes and also to the front to push out my breath during the night. Also I have quite a few detectors, one smoke alarm (you can see near the fan) a CO alarm just behind it and a CO alarm that I don't mount, I have it near me when I sleep so all is safe as houses!
Does the folding shelf have a name so I can try to research it. It would be perfect for Madge but I see it is no longer available from where you bought. Take care Gill
I have spent about 3 weeks looking for a similar alternative by searching camper folding shelf and I'm struggling, I might speak with Jo at dub styling to see where she gets hers from....

Loved it about time you was back. Nice to see a Yorkshire man with sprouts in the garden.
That utility wall and new front to the shelf have really brightened and opened the inside of the van up. Love it 👍
