Tim Bogert was an incredible bass player both with Vanilla Fudge and Cactus. Beck, Bogert and Appice would have been amazing too if Jeff hadn't let the car fall on him. But Tim and Carmine were up there with Moon and Entwistle as far as rhythm sections go.
Got this album in Spring '69. The versions of 'Shotgun' and 'Some Velvet Morning' on this are very cool, and 'Where is Happiness' is maybe the best original track they ever recorded.
bought this album along with Cream"Goodbye"and VU"White Light White Heat" for 99cents each...top floor Higbees Cle Oh in cutout bin after drum lessons 1970ish...TO THIS DAY....i still say "THANK YOU" the way Tim Bogart does after his Break Song solo... :)
Hey, Thanks for uploading the original "Break Song," this is the first time I've heard it in its entirety since playing the LP eons ago. I still have the copy but it's scratched up beyond listening to it. I did get to see this performance live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama back after the album came out. I loved Tim Bogert, Thanks again!
Ritchie Blackmore once said that the original Deep Purple lineup (Mark 1) had aspirations to be a British Vanilla Fudge covering other band's music. They had American hits with "Hush" and "Kentucky Woman". They came into their own with the, now, classic early Metal album, "In Rock."
Hi John, I was in High School at that time when I saw Vanilla Fudge at the Felt Forum in NYC. The opening act was Buddy Rich and his orchestra. That night was a drummers delight
Ya mi Kong play en vinilo no suena tan bien como acá. Aún tengo ésta carátula Que inolvidables recuerdos de ésta música que llegó a Medellín (Colombia) en 1.974
