@@BloodStoneFortress dude, it’s like everybody is trying to weedle and get something for nothing and try to play sympathy cards. One was all like “I’m a single mother!” To which I said “yeah I can tell.”
A couple of years ago I brought my brother and his then-fiancé to my local Warhammer store. They said the models looked very cool, but his fiancé described the well-painted Poxwalker zombies as “just too disgusting!”
That's funny, I describe my brother's well painted Poxwalkers and Death Guard in the same way. I guess the difference is that I recognize that as being a job well done on the painter's part.
31:32 wild alaskan story sounds extreamly like me and my gf whent into a store in a city somewhere i needed tips on how to paint slime/puss and blood and if i remember gunfire burn. when she looked at his model with maggots on it 😂 she nearly threw up. She was allready hungry before going in the shop... She wasnt after 😂
I work with the mentally ill, and oftentimes the severely mentally ill, of the labile, intrusive, and potentially violent variety. My first rule for me and my team is that we go home safe and whole at the end of the shift. Do not tolerate another person to lay a hand upon you. Now that does not mean beat someone within an inch of his life. It means don't suffer assholes. I have never seen this behavior at a game store, and I am thankful for it. My limited experiences have mostly been delightful, even when the store associates try to sell me D&D, and I have to tell them that I do not play Karens and Cappuccinos, and the official Warhammer store has been even more pleasant (even when the prices scare me out of my skin). Completely agreed on the rulebooks/codices, and I'll improve upon it: the rules should be in a looseleaf binder, so one could easily add or remove pages.
The Wolverhampton story, I know both of the managers. And the Irish guy, his last week at Wolverhampton was covered. Mostly by a local relief worker, but the weekend was covered by me, and that was the 500 store anniversary weekend
I have played a bunch of games across a couple LGS, against a myriad of personalities. I've never had someone behave aggressively toward me, but then, I don't really look like the 40k player stereotype. Still, I try to be empathetic/sympathetic if and when I'm pulling ahead in a game. The thought of an adult having an outburst over 40k is kinda gross, and I hope I never see it.
Well I think this is because you have empathy, so you will likely never see it. Its much easier to accept a stomping if the other guy is understanding that luck is swinging :)
I am so badly stuck on the fence about playing tabletop. I've been sacks deep in the lore for psychotic amount of time. Tabletop sounds really fun but entry bar is super high.
I wish I had a game store locally where there were warhammer players who didn't only show up to practice for tournaments and didn't find playing casual games to be a waste of their time and playing under powered lists as anathema to the hobby. 33:36 Me in the middle of painting my Spoilpox Scrivener to look like a candycane monster.
27:37 ooof the lore of chaos space marines are that they are the archenemy of mankind. The actual way they play is that they are sort of like the COG from Gears of War, with the Imperium being the unstoppable force with unlimited numbers, new technology and rules (Primaris, Custodates and loyalists are almost always updated sooner and more often. ) Chaos has a lot of shit that wants to be in close combat, but we don’t even have Non Forgeworld drop pods or landraiders that carry more than 10 guys. Our best lists minimize the number of actual marines in it. I say “fuck that noise” and play Butcherhorde World Eaters, which if you don’t know is Khârn, and as many Berserker squads in as many rhinos as you have, with a dash of other troops and vehicles. I’m going to lose, but my guys are going to punch your guys in the face or die trying. It is straight up Vegeta “I will meet these Androids face-to-face and break them with my *bare hands!*” If I could have khorne berserkers in jump packs, I’d take them instead of Khorne berserkers in rhinos and I’d be on that ass faster blasting Thomas the Dank Engine as I roll to charge. That army is as close as I get to collecting and playing orks or tyranids. I reaaaaally like the iron jaws guys in Aos (I like a lot of the armies in AoS)
Finally got to the video I save them for graveyard work so I can listen to the vids. Thanks for the advice but the guy I talk about still trys after talking to him so I doubt we'll play anymore.
I play casually and enjoy narrative but other players aren’t the most common. Most of my mates are builders/trades and squaddies so I get plenty of flak from them but managed to find a couple of closet case oppos since relocating (6 years ago)
Warlord cookie a balanced edition is armies with win rates between 55 and 45 percent of games. Not like this edition were it’s less than 45 percent win rate or the 4 top tier army with 55 percent plus winrate. It’s hard to play a balanced game when it’s guard vs Custodes just because the codex are so unbalanced.
I find it funny how they give you a digital code for the codex inside, yet you need to pay for the app to use it, and they charge you monthly. Would be nice if they gave free updates on the app, instead of selling more books that give you some buffs and extra relics...I bet they'd sell a lot more subs and warhammer + would be a lot better.
Hey! I love that character rule. I’ma use that. I play orks and my characters die immediately cause I suck 😂 I never thought of myself as a narrative player but I totes am. That’s Mr. Exile.
I'm one of those players that has barely looked at the rules beyond squad max numbers and what kind of weapon choices there are that look fun on the models purely for building and painting as for power gaming that really seems dull to me though i can understand if your a tournament player at an event but any other time it seems cheap unless you tell your opponent first, 100% its all about having some fun and making up some stories to go with your battles for a laugh
Long story cut short i got threatened and thrown out just for watching 10 mins of a game even though I ASKED THE STORE OWNER and the 2 army owners... Complained to gw headquarters and basicly got told to screw myself.
Got destroyed nearly ever game for up 4 years of my hobby time, just because i was the only non power gamer :/. Against many players wasnt a problem thye knowed me and didnt try to wipe me out fast as possible ... except 2 guyes ... they cheered each other up when i was their enemy. One of them who ( ok with huge luck) one time killed me whole army without one loss ... had to hear the story every time i saw him and his friend ... stopped playing shortly after
If you want a narrative game dont use GW rules. They are mince for narrative imo. So many better systems you can adapt to the 40k setting. But I spose my argument falls down if you can only play in GWs.
In one of my first Warhammer 40K games i kinda cheated but without intention. I was always more into Warhammer Fantasy, but because everyone else was playing mostly 40K, i started an Eldar army. My first games was against some one who was playing for years, and he misunderstood how the holographic projector for my falcon works. I tried to tell him thats not how i understand how it works, but he said 'no i play longer than you, so I'm right' (or something along those lines). so i just shrugged my shoulders and we continued playing. What made me stop playing 40K was the next couple of games, because it just wasn't fun for me. The hobby forum i use created a Warhammer Fantasy tournament, where most my games happened. It was called the lowgamertournament, where everyone just made fun armylists, that were far away from powergaming. Usually the one scoring lowest was celebrated the most, which was usually me, since everyone else was going to mnormal tournaments also.
oooh for once i'm going to hard disagree, but we're not bliond fanboys here so I'll give an opinion. The characters vs characters rule is a big no from me. Could only come from a space marines(or melee heavy more genreally) player. Doesn't make narrative or gameplayt sense to me.
To clarify (ignoring my awful rushed spelling) I play 30K whenever possible rather than 40K (9th is a trash fire, fight me) and in that case, warlord fights are where it's at, definitely. But if I'm playing imperial guard as I have my whole 'hobby life' and my commander is a weedy dude standing amongst a column of tanks, then no way am I letting the big space marine captain near him, except as bait, because otherwise I've failed as a commander.
I completely agree with you in this, it also makes no sense lore wise.....characters die from basic things in any setting, also saying it isnt about power gamers but moments of complete silliness like a commissar chainsword killing ghazkull....yeah thats great....but so is tau fire warrior killing mortarion 🤷♂️ . To be fair though it also becomes a bit strange to have a bit of a go about power gamers and tournament players about the style in which they play....but then make a house rule and think it should be this way.....ultimately everyone has there way they like to play
Yeah, it's UA-cam that does most of the ad stuffing. If it really bothers you that much, quit being a technological illiterate and install an ad blocker.
You can say what you want about the Space Wolves, but at least half their legion didn't turn traitor... XD
