For the two of you together? Also, the tax situation could be really interesting. As an expat myself I know that in most tax jurisdictions you only have to pay taxes for the number of days that you're actually in the country. The country being the country where you are paid, because usually that's the country where you need to pay your taxes. If you get a tax break: good for you! I don't think you're overpaid at all.
If the entry level is €2500/month please remember it's tax free, accommodation room and board (food) is provided. If the yacht is chartered, the charterer provides a crew gratuity to the Captain who, in turn disperses/shares with the crew at his discretion, again tax free and in cash. Depending on the owner, some contracts include one free flight home per year, end of contract bonus and shore excursions paid. When the owner is on board or on a charter, it is hard work and long hours and the crew earn every euro.

I was on a 57metre yacht, earned 3040 euros per month as deckhand, then 3240 as bosun. good job for a short time. 4 years was enough for me. got in and got out, got paid to travel the world. and it is straight cash into your bank, no expenses whatsoever, I wasn't taxed. so 100% pure cash. you make crazy money, fast.
I worked on one and you are technically on call whenever you are on the boat. but it rarely happens. it feels normal when you are there. very rarely will things happen after work hours if you are not on duty etc
Your videos are very informative and fun to watch. Many years ago I'm talking about the mid to late 60's way before you were born I worked on a 104' MV. Compared to what they're building these days she was small but none the less elegant. The truth is if hired you'll work your ass off everyday and sometimes twice a day if told to. Washing, wiping, scrubbing, cleaning, etc. If you are afraid of hard work don't look at this job. The glamor is not for you, it's for the owners guests and clients. One wrong word, one mistake that costs them any time or money and you are gone!
it depends on your own countries individual tax laws. for example i am from Ireland and if i'm working outside of Ireland for more than 6 months a year i don't pay tax to the Irish government.
They don't get taxed in any countries since they are never staying more than 6 months in a single country (and therefore not being taxliable in any country)
I think for US citizens it is "something like" the first 100K is tax free if your work requires you to be outside the US and you are not on US soil for more than 2 weeks in a calendar/tax year. Feel free to reply if you know the exact numbers. I only bring this up because a US international flight attendant moved to a foreign country but continued working for a US airline and ended up owing huge back taxes and penalties. The US tax service said because she worked for a US based airline her work did not REQUIRE her to be offshore and charged her back taxes !!! I guess if she worked for Emirates she would have been in the clear. So I am guessing, for US crew the yacht would have to be foreign registered.
Many years ago i was Navy submarine sailor. Pay wasn't that much, but the work day was similar. The advantage in a submarine... It sinks all the time, but it can usually come back up.
That's almost 3000k US. I made twice that as a deck hand on a tug boat pushing barges up and down the Mississippi river, the down side was I earned every penny. Picking up and dropping off barges up and down the river, cleaning inside and out, and in the summer scraping and painting. Trust me, you're living and working like kings.
Triple your workload, on duty or working 24hours a day, take away the sun and nice stops in foreign countries all the time and then half the salary and start paying taxes. The add in the North Atlantic in winter and you have the typical life on an experienced member of the Royal Navy. Trust me dude you are living the life make the most of it and stop trying to make it out to be hard work...you really have no idea until you've pulled a constant 72 Hour shift in a war zone, on a 6 month+ tour.
Life choices man. I chose this, you chose that? I aint complaining but i do work hard and wont water it down because others work under worse conditions
Haha exactly, great response. I’m in the military (leaving this year) but I’m not gonna pretend like I’m the only guy who’s ever done a hard days work. Life choices, Smeggy. Don’t let the navy make you bitter.

really nice video
Thanks man!
I debated whether to post this but I decided I would. I'm just out the military and find myself a superyacht owner. I am going to be recruiting an entire crew soon for my travels. Thank you for the upload it gives me an idea on what I should be looking for. You're boat is lucky to have you. You earn you're pay.
That's the salary per week? Per month? Or per trip?
Per month
@@callumduplessis9798 ah I see thanks
Always fun to watch!
The intro made me subscribe 😊 good videos tho
YEAHHH happy to have you man
Straight to the point. Good man. I still watched till the end
I'll be sure to watch your coming videos Jared! And how are you going to post the 25videos? In one set? Or once a week? :)
And thank you for another video!
Trying to do them as a set like 3 a week.
jared watney Alright, thank you for quick respond!
2500 isn’t enough when you consider the hourly rate! Even if you must be saving pretty much all of it
I agree
Is the crew like a gang that comes as a package or are you each your own entity and can move to other yachts as you want to?
Each our own entity !
Iestyn Ok, thanks!
So it's basically 2500e for 24/7 readiness?
Yip!
I worked on one and you are technically on call whenever you are on the boat. but it rarely happens. it feels normal when you are there. very rarely will things happen after work hours if you are not on duty etc
CharlesXavier i want to work there so bad ...
I just love your videos!
I can only give one like though. 21
Thanks for the support!
Great video as always!
Wait, didn’t you answer at the very beginning of the video,
I answered the starting salary for a new crew member yes
I think the value of your experiences and travel opportunities make the deal even sweeter!
Is that per day or month, week, or year?
Big P month most likely
Month
Your videos are very informative and fun to watch. Many years ago I'm talking about the mid to late 60's way before you were born I worked on a 104' MV. Compared to what they're building these days she was small but none the less elegant. The truth is if hired you'll work your ass off everyday and sometimes twice a day if told to. Washing, wiping, scrubbing, cleaning, etc. If you are afraid of hard work don't look at this job. The glamor is not for you, it's for the owners guests and clients. One wrong word, one mistake that costs them any time or money and you are gone!
What countries tax rate do you get taxed under?
It's tax free......
I guess it depends on where the ship is registered.
it depends on your own countries individual tax laws. for example i am from Ireland and if i'm working outside of Ireland for more than 6 months a year i don't pay tax to the Irish government.
Thank god for the immediate answer to my question. Makes me actually want to watch the rest of the video
Am I the only one who saw the guns on the wall? 5:34
maybe they were flairs?
@@dexterbond9415 that's true
Nope they either NERF guns or lick and stick guns haha.. The crew have a sense of humor!
jared watney haha that would be great fun when you are in the middle of nowhere!!
No. You aren't
Love the videos man 👍🏻👍🏻
2:23 Thought a yacht crew rap was about to drop hard
wow, i love that you brought it up right away without all the bullshit, that's cool, not too many people do videos like that)
What happened to the "pinned comment" tho. 😉
Many years ago i was Navy submarine sailor. Pay wasn't that much, but the work day was similar. The advantage in a submarine... It sinks all the time, but it can usually come back up.
Thanks for sharing Robert! Glad it came back up haha

Awesome video - keep it up!
Hi
That's a comeback and a half Jared .I tip my hat to ye sir
Haha exactly, great response. I’m in the military (leaving this year) but I’m not gonna pretend like I’m the only guy who’s ever done a hard days work.
Life choices, Smeggy. Don’t let the navy make you bitter.
hi!
Nice comment
