I just came across and was like “oh it’s a smaller channel, only 187k subscribers yet”…but it’s actually 187 ?!?! And this is the quality you’re producing? It’s amazing, dude, wouldn’t be surprised if your channel gets BIG fast! Your stuff is hilarious, incredibly well animated, coherent AND has its own personality. I’d love to support you on Patreon if I wasn’t a broke student, but at least I can offer you some words of encouragement. So keep going buddy, you’ve got this! Can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
That comment just made my day :D Thank you so much for the kind words! If you are at the bottom of the UA-cam pit it's very hard to get any sort of exposure. But I'll just keep on doing what I do and eventually I hope it'll pay off. Comments like this definitely keep me going (: So don't stress it about the Patreon, that's absolutely fine :D Have a great day!
I thought I already knew how crazy this event was before today, boy was I wrong! This video was amazing and absolutely worth all the effort I'm sure it took.
This is a criminally underrated channel. Please do not get discouraged, you will take off like a rocket once people start finding you! The amount of research must have been enormous and the quality of the graphics is really great. The jokes are top notch. Ill be sharing your channel around for sure.
Really liked the video and appreciate the work you put into tracking the actual positions of the runners :) also, since I am watching this from Cork in Ireland I am loving the Irish representation!
Incredible video, I can't even imagine how many hours went into making this. Great script, great delivery (including a great American accent), and absolutely stellar editing. Looking forward to watching whatever you make next!
Thank you so much for sharing the history of this event! Our St. Louis based team really enjoyed this! Best of luck to your channel. You earned our subscription!
I just watched all of your videos. This channel is something I didn't know I needed in my life. I love it. Fantastic editing, production, and research!
That was a great watch, super fun story (for the viewer, not the runners), great editing, and laugh out loud funny! Looking forward to your future works!
Well, you made a subscriber out of me! This video is so good, you should be working for a big network. I am a little embarrassed to be a resident of St. Louis after viewing. Can't wait to see your other videos and thank you!!!!
Lol, that is such a well made and funny video. And its so awesome that you include metric units! Although I think a few less "america!" music interventions would be good :)
@@howistoast The america music interriptions were the funniest part of the video, I'd keep all those. The only thing I'd change would be removing the random videos (e.g the dog), all of the interruptions you animated were gold
Great work, that was super enjoyable to watch, 16 minutes just felt like 5! And great documentation of a truly wack event, I had read a bit about it before (shoutout to citation needed), but I never knew many of the things you explain. A personal opinion - I feel like you could do with less uppercase in the title.
really good, really high quality stuff mate. Keep this up and you will have lots and lots of subs in no time. Just use celcius like a civilised person you are. That was the only problem with the video.
“he was sweating more than a blind lesbian pacing up and down a fish market” is about one of the best combination of soundwaves that ive been blessed for my snail shaped ear organs to be vibrated by. simply amazing.
I know this is a bit of a broad question, but how did you learn to make videos like this? It's really well edited like a channel with millions of subscribers. How does one go about learning how to do... everything? And what were you upto before this channel; surely you didn't learn recently?
I have been into editing for a couple of years now. I did freelance work for small businesses, bands, events, stuff like that, but never did anything on UA-cam myself (but always wanted to). The illustration part I literally learned about a month before I started my channel with a couple of tutorials (hence why it's also not that sophisticated). The rest in terms of storytelling, structure, jokes, pacing etc I sort of learned by watching channels that I like and taking a lot of notes to see what stuff works well and what doesnt. I know the answer is also quite broad, but hope it sort of answers your question :D
Great video but can you slow down a bit at various points or between jokes. Watching the whole video was like running a marathon. Other thhan that very funny and very informative
your cuts for audio i find are weird, it might be for entertainment purposes, but i get distracted from the coents of the video when the rythm gets broken often over and over otherwise nice video and content
That's is indeed true. I put a little note underneath the flags at around 3:17 explaining that I did this in order to make it more easily understandable (for people who are not knowledgeable about early 20th century vexillology). But you are indeed correct in pointing it out!

Also here before this channel inevitably blows up!
"And then the Russian team arrived" made me chuckle. Good work on the video.
thank you booker!
Good ol’ Russians
I thought I already knew how crazy this event was before today, boy was I wrong! This video was amazing and absolutely worth all the effort I'm sure it took.
Thank you, man! Really appreciate it and glad you enjoyed it!
the map thingy was amazing, it must have been a hell of a lot of work. nicely done, thanks a lot.

That lesbian joke at 09:24 literally made me spit my drink. Bravo.
Thank you very much! It's definitely nice comments like this one that keep me motivated! So thank you very much Haider!

Thank you so much and hello to Cork!
Al Corey and Felix were the best 😂
This channel never fails to make me laugh!

awww, thank you so much!!
You watch this and when you think it's going terribly, it just gets worse. Over, and over again. What a ride this race was.

This video is better than it has any right to be
That’s so nice, thank you so much!
This video seems like it involved a lot of research and editing. I wish you well in your UA-cam adventures.

"The olympic marathon, a 100m sprint with extra steps."
I can't begin to describe how perfect that joke is.
That was a great watch, super fun story (for the viewer, not the runners), great editing, and laugh out loud funny! Looking forward to your future works!
Haha thank you very much, Matthew!
Thank you for including metric measurements in your videos. It's really refreshing to have them for once. :-)
Just made it to the bucket of water scene where you only used Fahrenheit. Please give us metric every time! Thanks! Great videos.
This was amazing. Seeing how the race roughly went was great to witness, thank you :)
Erm yeah gonna be real proud to be belonging in the first 3000 subs when this channel hits a mil.
Absolute amazing stuff dude keep at it
Thanks a ton, Neko! I shall not forget people like you if I every hit the million! Thank you very very much for your kind words!!

SO WELL MADE! on my way to watch ur other videos

I love how Felix also didn't take off the leggings he wore underneath his shorts
otherwise somebody might have stolen his favorite pair of leggings

Thank you so much for the compliment & Welcome to the channel!
Very impressive!! I can't believe I found this channel before it got even a thousand subscribers
aww, thank you jonathan!
By far the craziest story in Olympic history. It exceeds the original marathon where the runner died.
This channel is amazing, it will blow up in no time
Thanks for the encouragement! I really hope it does :D
The quality on this channel is amazing!
Keep up the great work, I'm sure you will be huge

Must have been _an absolute nightmare_
Holy shit your video quality is amazing for so few subs
Do you have this route in some sort of GPS or google maps type situation? Interested in maybe trying to recreate this route on a bicycle.
This was a fun video. Subscribed to your channel and I look forward to more videos.

There’s an episode of My Little Pony about this.
Amazing video! I study history and I’m wondering what software you used to create the timeline seen at 5:19? It could really help my note taking.
I did the timeline in a program called notion. I wholeheartedly recommend it! I use it for basically everything in my life!

300 feet is about 91 meters bro. Is that my takeaway? No but it;s literally the only problem i can find in what is another quality toasty.

Noted!
Only 539 subscribers? I wish I could invest in channel growth, because Toast is going to the MOON 🚀

Team Felix ❤️
wait am I understanding the patreon thingy correctly? I only need to be a petreon once (for 1 month) and my name would be there for all future videos?
Of course I would love for your to stay subscribed but if you want to do that you could!
At 11:30 I might be wrong but I feel like 99% sure he was ran off by some racist with "coon hounds"
