- Salu is out now. www.orchestral...
Located 40 minutes outside Tallinn, Estonia, in the middle of a pine forest, the Arvo Pärt Centre is equal parts cultural space, concert venue, creative environment, a tribute to, and an archive for the life’s work of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. The building itself and the forest it sits in work together to create an atmosphere of peace, calm, and reflection-an atmosphere that directly inspired the sounds of Salu.

I was here when it had just opened. About an hour before it closed I was left alone as the various groups made their way out. I spotted Arvo shuffle his way through a door and so I made my way over to that part of the building. I sat listening to him composing on a piano, which I could hear through the wall of the room next door. It was one of the most surreal and beautiful moments of my life. As the sun was setting he left the room and I asked to shake his hand before he slipped away. Instead of leaving instantly, he stayed and kept asking me questions about my life. This absolute attention he gives when in conversation (something I noted when seeing him interact with others), I think, is a mark of holiness. He's one of the most wonderful people I've ever met, even if it was only for 10 minutes, alone, in a snow-covered pine forest.
What a beautiful place. My mother just went there. Really want to go there one day. Thank you for this amazing video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing and inspiring. Just to know this wonderful place exists is a joy

One o f these days i'll be playing there. Every blade of grass has the status of a flower.
The architecture of it is astoundngly beauitful
It's stunning.
Lovely. But I won't be spending this money on the library (just wait when it goes up to 500 euro inc. VAT - now that's what I call inflation)
You don’t know what you are missing. I’ve been there on my trip to Tallinn and it was THE most memorable place for me.
