- Once upon a time, the Tanchjim Oxygen ruled the Kingdom of Dynamic Drivers. Years later, Oxygen ceded the throne to its offspring, the Hana 2021. After years of failing to produce a worthy successor, Tanchjim's rule was threatened by upstarts from the Simgot Realm. But now early in 2024, Tanchjim, reawakens and claps back with their mighty $260 Origin.

Great review! I do wish reveiwers in this community would include both objective and subjective impressions of fit (just like most do with regards to sound). Measurements of nozzle length, width, and angle (in both dimensions) would be EXTREMELY helpful.
How would one measure nozzle angle?
Hi Mark! Superb video! Very interested in this set might look to buy this set later in the year if another new DD doesn't outdo this one. I will look if you have reviewed the falcon ultra. The reason for that delay, is an ear infection, quite serious and it sucks bad, and again a friendly reminder to keep your iems clean!!

Surprisingly, after owning both the Origin and the Chopin for about 3 months, I REALLY like the Origin. Even though it doesn't have much bass compared to the Chopin, it still HOLDS a good amount of mid-bass (the thump in sounds) with VERY CLEAN treble. I do agree it is somewhat sibilant but not too much.
I’ve owned/demoed all the IEMs mentioned in this review and in regards to the single DD IEMs mentioned the Tanchjim Origin is absolutely the best tuned and the best single DD IEM under $500 no contest. I agree the refinements it has against the EA1000’s over cooked treble and though the Origin may not have the quantity of bass the EA1000 the quality and texture is so much better it’s not even close and that being said the Origin still has a good amount of bass when it’s called upon for sure.
I got hear the Chopin at CanJam 2023 and was fairly unimpressed. I'm surprised it is getting the hype that it is. I haven't wanted to bother getting one in house for review because of my prior experience with it, but maybe I should. My expectations are low... My review of the Origin should be out by next weekend. I do like the Origin a lot, although I think it excels the most with foam ear tips. Not sure if you got a chance to try those yet? Love the live stream, good to see you get to this one early. I got mine a bit later, but will be trying to get the video done soon :)
I haven't tried with foam tips, it's pretty rare I use foam tips these days mostly because of the added hassle of fitting them and cleaning them.
Hey, I’ve had these for about 2 weeks and something you said is ringing true for me.
You said they sound better than they measure … I find they sound better when they are warm.
I don’t know if it’s possible, but if you warm them up to body temp and measure them, do they measure better?
I find if I put them in my pocket for about 10 min before listening they sound perfect. If I put the, in cold they sound harsher and less warm … no pun intended.

Very insightful and detailed review, I really appreciate the comparison to the EA1000. I have a question regarding your ranking: You gave the Hana 2021 (as well as the original Hana) and the Chopin 5/5 stars. Yet you rate the Origin only a 4/5 despite placing them above all the other sets in this video. Do the 5 stars of the other sets not hold up or is the missing 1 star of the origin due to "non-technical" reasons?
I guess it's price to performance issue.

Any input on which of them has the best isolation? I need a set with at least decent isolation as I will use them in a noisy environment.
I wouldn't say there's much difference in isolation between them -- they all fit pretty similarly. Typically more semi-custom designs with solid shells will make a noticeable difference.

Mm, I don't really. I use JVC Spiral Dots++ 'cause they work for me, but I think tips are very personal to individual anatomy.
Hmm how Origin compared to Tangzu Nezha? Looking for vocal focused and less bassy IEM. Both are neutral?
the sub 200 dollar dynamic earphones seem to roll off the sub bass and it just not my thing. I still use the olina se and its amazing for the price although the harman tuned sub 200 dollar iems are just better in general so is it even worth it for this kind of dynamic earphone anymore ?
I think to justify the cost of the Tanchjim, you have to (1) value the look and build quality, and/or (2) want something less vee and more neutral than the (I agree) very good alternatives that are cheaper.

These are the Spinfits that come with 64 Audio IEMs. I think other Spinfits should be similar.
i feel like you should have an option so that when you turn on the IEF comp the FR changes but the target doesnt
Press pin on the target you want to keep.
Then, select ief comp.
How come? At least when using the targets I've made for my rig, it is important that the target changes with the compensation.
Are those Spinfit W1 ear tips you're using on them? Or which ones?
I have Spinfit CP360s on the Origin.
@@SuperReviewoh in my tip rolling journey with the Origin I haven’t tried those yet. It seems like SpinFit has discontinued the 360 line but its successor the SpinFit Omni are available so I’m gonna cop those and pair them with the Origin! Thanks!
@@SlimAsianEntertainmentspinfit told me omni is best suited for tws earphones. I’m not sure how true that is but omni does feel more “non existent” than my w1. But w1 is pretty good already and does smooth things quite a bit on my ea500lm

Intresting that lots of reviers and people say that Ea 500LM are better then 1000 so if we take into account that 89 usd 500LM is better then 220 USD EA1000 and they just slightly lost to 260 USD Origin then 500 LM is easy winner. Can you compare 1000 to 500 LM?

I saw an image of these opened up and they seemed very cheap. At these prices I assume Timeless etc are far better value?
I would take this over the Timeless personally, but up to your preferences.

TBH I haven't listened to it in a couple years, I just pulled out the Hana 21 for the first time in a while for this review.

From what I've heard the ea500lm is not as energetic as the ea1000. And seems to be almost as technical, so it seems to be the best value under 100$ so far just based on technicalities. Frequency response is still a mild v shape sadly.
EA500LM looks quite bit brighter than the EA1000 in the graphs (from 2.5kHz up). The EA1000 is already borderline too much there.
LM fix the upper mid issue with more bass, not actually fixing the main problem
is it comparable with moondrop blessings 3? or aful performer 5/8?

Price-wise Chopin is way more competent than Origin. About $70 price difference right now at summer sale price.
chopin is good but i prefer by a mile the tachjim kara... the thing with the kara's needs a lot of power.. the kara reminds me the HE6....try it with speakers amp.... lml
If anyone reads this, I do not endorse driving a 115db/rms-sensitive IEM with a speaker amplifier.

@@Garrettdx1988 all I said was if you're prioritizing the looks of an IEM which IMO has little to nothing to do with what you're using an IEM for i.e. The sound (and maybe comfort to a lesser degree), you might to reevaluate how you assess IEMs.
Never said you Shouldn't consider it at all, but to prioritize it below sound and comfort.
But hey, it's ultimately your call.
