Good stuff! This is something I've wondered about but haven't seen covered elsewhere. I think you can get security mesh/nets that are meant for backpackers to guard against slash & grab knife attacks, so maybe those could be used on things like camping gear stowed on a rack rather than in panniers.
Nice video series.👍 I've used a cable lock for helmets etc ever since I foolishly locked our helmets and waterproof gear in our panniers and then wandered off around Lisbon only to return to find panniers bust open and kit/helmets gone. Cable is a tiny bit harder to cut than it is to jimmy the locks on a pannier.
That’s a bummer! You must of had to buy new helmets before riding again?! Whenever we ride into a city ( not often happens ) we park in underground parking with security. Ride safe.
@@RideSpain Rode for a short distance without! Tut Tut, but I was pretty cheesed off. Then rented some from a local bike rental shop until I could sort some replacements out.
Hi Sharon, it is actually this one. www.spectrumid.co.uk/minder-cable-lock-alarm-120db-combination-lock.html However if you put "retractable cable lock" into an Amazon search you will find a few to choose from. I would suggest the more digits the combination lock the better. There only are really deterrents. A far better solution is the cable that I keep under the seat but it is not as user friendly. Oly
Really good video mate. Whenever I book accommodation I ALWAYS look to see if it has safe parking 😂

The wire cable is an excellent idea I’ve not seen before. Can I ask where you got the cable from?
Hi , I’ve had it a good few years so not 100% sure where I got it. You can find them on Amazon and eBay though.

Can anybody advise on the make and model of the cable lock in this video please?
