Me too! Life has been rough. I was divorced after a 17yr marriage came to an end in 2006. Sept 16th 2024 I turn 65 but Jesus has always been there for me all.the years. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior on 12-26-1983 and on 12-26-2023 I just celebrated my 40th year anniversary walking down the Narrow Road with Jesus and the journey continues. 🙏
The lyric "I can't go with you and stay where I am" always speaks to me. God has so much to show us and work for us to do - all for His purpose and glory. I will follow you, Lord.
Same here. God always manages to remind me of this line after He's led me through something in my life (or is in the process of doing so.) That's why I'm here now. As much as I'd love to stay here and wallow in my emotions, my desire - or should I say the desire He's instilled in me? - is to go where He leads. "But Lord, where would we go? No one but You gives us the revelation of eternal life." --John 6:68 TPT
She has a much better voice than Karen Carpenter. Susan is compared best to Barbra Streisand. Susan, in my opinion sounds better than Barbra. Her range dynamics sound better, because of her amazing clear and bright voice.
Hi guys, I tend to describe people and things I adore rather than to compare them with others..... Susan stuns and sends me shivers at the same time every time I get to see and listenvto her ! Her voice is not only awesome and feminine it alway matches uniquely to her looks and her spirit which makes her message truly loveable and authentic..... She always fills my heart to the brim whenever I listen to her songs..... What a precious gift the Lord made me when a friend of mine in Cologne played " You Move Me " for me several years ago...... !!!!
What an impeccable instrument God’s given her. She has one of those voices that, like a clarion call, cuts through the clutter and demands to be heard.
This song is at the center of the start of a wonderful friendship with a woman I met, the weekend I first heard this song. I wrote out the lyrics, and gave them to her (a total stranger with no warning that she had moved me so) with a copy of the song, as it said exactly how I felt to have met her. We are friends to this day - and this song branded Susan Ashton's name on my heart for a lifetime. What an amazing woman - voice - and song. Thank you Susan for thanks you Troubadour Tx for posting. I play the song on a loop many days when I am needing inspiration. LOVE THIS!
I got through the loss of my best friend and brother with this song. I would play it over and over. He inspired me to become a nurse when I saw how he interacted with his nurses over the years. Gosh I miss him so much. Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy robbed his athletic body of its strength , but he kept that inner light shinning. You could see it dancing in his eyes. I followed him anywhere dancing and singing. He was joy personified. Thank you Susan for allowing God to work through you and your music, You truly are a better Angel of our Nature.
Osmar de Oliveira Júnior Keep pressing on in Christ. Be his warrior! I accepted this awesome Lord and Savior 12-26-83. It hasnt been an easy journey but i know the Lord has always been there.
there is no one like susan. saw her perform at an amusement park in ohio 1991 and never stopped listening. she is something special, especially when paired with wayne kirkpatrick.
This song has so many meanings, one can listen to it wen so down, wen so happy deep inside,or wen so deeply in love with some 0ne and so many other reasons, or wen u exceed in some thing u didn't know u would exceed just like the song says "u gave me courage I didn't know I had".this song is so powerful. Indeed life is a therapy, real expensive and no guarantee.
Oh my gosh, how am I only seeing this now? I have loved this song for a long time, and to watch her sing it live - such a joy right before Christmas! :-)
Quite a testimony that you have Susan. Just read about the divot in the road that you encountered. It has made you even more deep a person. Your voice has a quality about it that is extraordinary. This song is a prime example. You deliver with such simplicity. Thanks
dear miss Susan thank you very much for this song i first heard this song in 1998,1991,i brought a christian album, please permit me to thank you, thank you.because your song save my life and i know it's the most high god through his son Jesus Christ that allowed me to listen to this song.I know it's God that save me through your song.thank you and i love you .God bless you and your family and also your music.
Susan ....was introduced to you and your music in the 80's. I love it so much! You sound like an angel from Heaven singing to us. What an amazing gift you are.....
This song has been my favorite love song since I was about 10 years old... when it was first released. I used to listen to it on Praise TV. I know it was meant as a love song to God, but, now, at 31 - I don’t see this as a love song to God anymore since I’m not really sure I believe in that anymore. But I’m also not sure I believe in marriage or a true love between a man and woman. However, this is my favorite love song ever. I feel the lyrics are just so REAL and beautiful. Maybe because I’m not a hopeless romantic, maybe because I don’t believe in God anymore. I see this song as what it would feel like if my outlook on love and life is ever proven wrong. It’s basically “the dream” even though I know it will probably never happen. But I still listen to it all the time. Because, hey! Anything is possible right?! I just cried a little lol And that’s what GREAT song writing is. Even if she didn’t originally write it. The songwriters are true and amazing songwriters.
finally bumping into my favourite 😥😥😥😭even God knows that l fell in the deepest of love with this song💟💟💖💟💓💟💖💟💓💟💖💟💓💟💖💟💓Oh My God l surely love this song and for that Suzan is my fav of favs😍😘💓💟💖👑
Gordon Kennedy, on Susan's right and the one singing backup vocals, co-wrote this song with Pierce Pettis, who I first heard of through Billy Crockett, another amazingly talented singer-songwriter. Billy has performed with Pierce and with his daughter Grace Pettis, still *another* talented singer-songwriter! Also have ro recognize Wayne Kirkpatrick on Susan's left, a prolific Christian songwriter, and definitely in the top 5 of my favorite songwriters. (Check out "Better Angels of Our Nature" from Susan's 1992 album "Angels of Mercy." You won't be disappointed.) I thank God for blessing us with all these super talented folks!
That's Gorden Kennedy and Wayne Kirkpatrick playing for her, they wrote this song and with Tommy Simms they also wrote the Clapton song "change the world" stellar songwriters and singers

Man, this takes me back when I was in my 20’s being a saved young man navigating life. This song always gave me so much peace ❤
Takes me back to a better time, when my faith was new, my marriage was new, and my babies were new…

NO ONE sings like SUSAN ASHTON!!!! She sings with so much heart and depth, it touches my heart to the innermost parts. Thank you, Susan!
Greatest singer on the planet. Fight me.
I sure miss Susan Ashton. Her voice is impeccable, with her live version of a song just as beautiful as the recorded version. She is flawless!

I love that voice. One of the purest ever. Right up there with Karen Carpenter.
What a great compliment, and one grounded in reality.

Pretty sure that's both of the songwriters on guitar

How come the only commenters are men? I agree. She's a beautiful woman, made all the more beautiful by her heart for Jesus.
Where is she now? Can't get her online
Its a song I ahave really liked it moves a person.
Susan Ashton and Barbra Streisand are the two best female vocalists ever. They are both better than Mariah Carey and Karen Carpenter imho.
