I wonder why this song wasn’t released as a single. It would be No. 1 on the chart. This is one of my best MAW songs. Anyway, today is my birthday and what a big present from Colin! Thank you for posting! From Japan.
My favorite favorite favorite of alllll favorites!! And let’s be clear: every song of yours is my favorite. But THIS one = my whole heart. Thank you! Love you!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Brings back memories of seeing them live in the 1980s. Fun band that played fun songs which on the surface appeared to be simple but were actually very cleverly created musical compositions. Colin Hay’s vocal skills are incredible - in my top 5 male rock and roll vocalists.
This stuff passed me by almost 40 years ago as I was a metal head and that was all I listened to. To discover these fantastic songs firms up my belief that there is always great music out there to be discovered. Great playing by the band and nice to see Colin doing some lead guitar!
Dude, I totally agree with you there. Every song off of those albums is great. Hey, even Two Hearts is pretty good, I haven't gotten all the way through it though.
Personally,I love all three albums!Yes,"Two Hearts" is missing John's bass and Jerry's drums, but it still has some amazing songs on it."Still Life" is a masterpiece, written and sung by Greg;"Man With Two Hearts" is a solid rocker;"Maria" is a gorgeous song that includes Renee Geyer on vocals with Colin and some nice accordion from Greg; "Everything I Need" is a nice, lyrical love song...there's even a great song for the pandemic ,called " Stay At Home" !😎
Business as Usual was the 2nd record I ever bought. This is the most underrated gem. The intro guitar delay was a huge influence on me. Thanks for this series, it’s fantastic in the now and nostalgia.
Oh man, oh man, oh man. My favorite Men at Work song and likely top 10 favorite songs ever. I've been hoping Colin would include this track as part of these amazing Monday series episodes. "Winter kisses when your lips were blue.. like chasing wild geese in the snow..." What a perfectly beautiful/melancholy song. Not to mention the melody and musicianship truly capturing the band on top of their game. It goes without saying that Colin's vocal performance really lends grace and atmosphere to lyrics like "I used to look at your school photographs..." and "I dream of the ships at sea on a stormy night." The guitar interplay between the wide chorus ghost-like hanging arpeggios and Ron's fabulous dixie-esque licks is my favorite guitar work on a record full of brilliant and tasteful guitar playing. Jerry's driving, locomotive beat masterfully gives way to a uniquely timed crescendo of high tom fills during the bridge finale. And love always to the genius Greg Ham (who, even in a relatively subtle turn on this tune, manages to cement his presence with that classic opening and outro.) But with all of that, to me, John Rees' pulsing, off-beat bass work is what especially holds the whole magic together on this track. Thanks Colin and band for the gift of this song and for including it as part of this awesome series, absolutely looking forward to tomorrow!
This song should have been a single back in the day. This and "Overkill" have always been my favorite Men at Work songs. "I Can See It In Your Eyes"-favorite on Business as Usual. "Overkill"-favorite on Cargo.
@@charlieranger4598 Me too!The only thing I would disagree with is that,as my above comment states,my personal favorite part of the song is Greg's sweet keyboards, but other than that I'm right with you!
I always look for that moment in any song you sing when you look to the heavens. Cannot help but smile each time. Thank you for your rare combo of melancholy + joy!
This song brings back so many memories...one of their best gems for sure..... Those times when you had to listen to every single song in the LP or tape.......miss them 80's....

Affirmative, Captain, Frost! :) I would add that it's the 80s pop perfection and one of these Beatles-songs, that had never been written or sung by John, Paul, George, or Ringo but by Colin, Greg, Ron, Jerry and John. ;)

Para mi es la mejor canción del grupos con overkill, Dios pero este hombre es increíble, es una maravilla verlo, quiero llorar de Alegría 😢
Those first 2 Men at Work albums don't have a single bad song on them. Even "I Like To", which is a silly song, has some great guitar work.

So freaking good.
By your leave, I think that I'll be going now
I think I've stayed a little long
I looked up all my mother's recipes
I can't think what I did wrong
We go to a restaurant, but you don't like wine
You say it's love you want, but there is no time
I realize, I can see it in your eyes
You keep staring at the floor
I used to look at your school photographs
But I don't have them anymore
I wonder who's in my old college rooms
Or stuck on my old locker door
I dream of the ships at sea, on a stormy night
I wish that it was me, but I wake in fright
I realize, I can see it in your eyes
I've only got myself to blame
Winter kisses when your lips were blue
Like chasing wild geese in the snow
Pressing faces on the window panes
But that's a long long time ago
We go to a restaurant
You say it's love you want
I realize, I can see it in your eyes
You're moving on to something more
