Enjoyed the movie! Interesting, and nicely done! It was a pleasure to see Frank Converse in the role of the Swedish-American father (I saw him in Anne of Avonlea many years ago, but in the same time-frame in which this movie was made), and Adrien Brody as the streetwise kid from the big city. He was just 15 at the time. I didn't become aware of him until many years later, when he won an Oscar for Best Actor, but, apparently, he started his acting career at quite an early age. He was very credible, but honestly, the other child actors also did well. The whole movie was very well cast!

This is an excellent movie!! I've read a lot about the orphan trains! Many of these kids were loved and taught. Probably just as many were abused by people that used and mistreated them. Boys as well as girls. 😢❤

besides the orphans, of the train fame, there were many children from poor families who couldn't (or didn't want to) care for them, who ended up being "sold" as bond "servants". 1. i say "sold"-- as in, their labor was sold until they reached the age of 18. 2. and "servants"-- as in, if you weren't one, slave if you were one. my grandfather was one of the lhose. when he was 13, he and i-don't-know-how-many-siblings were tendered off to others. i hear that a couple of the girls were sent to homes where they were well treated. my grandfather, daniel went to the p.t. barnum circus guy, himself. there, he was the elephant waterboy. now imagine how many buckets of water an elephant can drink & you know it kept a teenager busy all day every day. for him it was slavery.

Being an example will help billy become a better person. He doesn't want to be this way, it takes love, patience to help develop better character. Hard though if it's our habits. And it's a lot of love to adopt a child ❤️😊

So interesting and exciting to see the young Adrien Brody! One of my favourite American actors.
The movie “The Pianist”, that he starred in when he was a young man, is a masterpiece imo.
And a great true story to think about on this Holocaust Remembrance Day: Saturday January 27th, 2024: the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp in 1945! Did Adrien Brody build his career on playing characters who were not valued by society for one reason or another? The injustice of that?

It's hard when you loose your family. You are sent somewhere you have no idea who will take you in. These are lovely people, IAM a Christian so they'd suit me. But someone not of that faith, would feel uncomfortable but out of love to the boy, I think he will see he can be loved. Very hard to accept love to, if you've been shoved around in different foster homes. 😢but I pray all will find love . Jesus can give you and I peace love. He will bring that everlasting peace after death. ❤it can be tough living In this world. But Jesus wants us to spread his love kindness 😊

Remember the fourth commandment KJV reminds us of Genesis 2:2&3. Jesus is our example. EVEN the forty days after His resurrection! It was Constantine who thought to change God’s times and laws. In 311 A.D. after generations of extreme Christian persecution. BECAUSE he was a sun worshipper!! Jesus said come out of her My people. And if you love Me keep My commandments. This becomes our last test of faithfulness when America calls for the reinstatement of the national sun day law ( blue laws) with persecution for sabbath keeping Christians. Then the seven last plagues for the wicked and rebellious. And Jesus returns to redeem His faithful commandment keeping remnant church.

Makes me laugh~ if kids were put in jail, they didn’t just cut their hair, they shaved their heads, mainly because headlice were so prevalent, but probably also to humiliate them. People wouldn’t have stood so close to the incoming train for fear of being covered in greasy coal smuts. And it was quite clear most of those people were not looking to give those children a good home and love, but simply wanted their labour in the home and on the farm. The book Anne of Green Gables showed this was considered completely normal in those days. After all, it had only been a few years since laws were passed in Britain to prevent young children from working in coal mines etc. But at age 14 you were expected to go out to full time work.

Lie WASN'T easy; ISN'T easy! like the wagontrains moving west. by the time they got there: father lost wife; wife lost husband so new couple these kids lost both parents, now with blended new couple. Amazingly--by necessity--it often, not always!--worked.
