Also, finance channels make a lot more than some other categories. The money UA-camrs make all depends on how much advertisers are willing to pay.
As a youtuber myself, I realized it's never about being lucky. Only hard work, consistency and a bit of Famester to help you along the way.

There is no way to guess how much someone makes if they are using shorts. Shorts have changed everything and for the good. It is impossible for anyone to guess how much a channel is making if they mix in Shorts and regular long videos. If Graham did this video today and he used Shorts from time to time, the numbers would be all over the place.

The personal finance niche is known for its high RPM (which is a bit ironic) along with personal health and wellbeing

Depends on your audience reach, niche, and as someone else said consistency and posting schedule too! There is a lot of variability in UA-cam ad revenue. However, there are much better ways to monetize your channel than ads! Merchandise, affiliate links, paid training programs, referral links, sponsorships, etc. YT channel is a full scale business model.

that’s insane. i’ve been doing youtube since 2018 and i cannot seem to get off the ground. i started posting shorts a few weeks ago and they’ve been doing moderately well (2-4k views each). i’ve gained about 130ish subs since, im at 215 subs rn and for the longest time i could not get to 100 subs, passing that small milestone has me quite excited for what my future might hold, for now im just going to keep making lots of shorts daily and maybe a video or two of long form a month, i really hope to get to 100k subs some day, and maybe even be able to earn some money from youtube, until then, it’s all pretty much out of reach and impossible for me to imagine it actually happening. however i probably won’t ever stop making videos cause i love the process and interactions with really nice people that help boost my confidence and let me know that my content is entertaining. maybe some day i’ll look back and think “i can’t believe i doubted my ability to make it”. till then, i’ll continue to love watching videos and being inspired by others success here on youtube 👍.
