I went the stealth route with my ‘68 Camaro with 13:1 full-race 355. I put 30” Cadillac mufflers on it, so all you could hear was the the solid-roller valvetrain. Never got pulled over once. Zero drone at any RPM, which made cruising at any speed a real pleasure.
I've bought my 5.3 Tahoe with Cherry Bomb Extreme. I love it. But after hearing this - if I had to - I would swap to glasspack. The only thing that annoys me is - it is relatively loud around 2kRPM and makes traveling above 75MPH a bit unpleasant.
Put the Extreme on it, then a single or dual tailpipes. For a single, a 4" tip at a 45 angle so it comes out on the corner, the edge of the bumper looks best IMO. My favorite look is more expensive but I love the classic duals straight out the back on each side of the hitch with 3.5" or 4" tips. And like others have said, full tailpipes will help with drone a lot, might fully eliminate it. On my 99 Suburban, I have a 2.5" x-pipe after the stock cats, then 2.5" pipes ran all the way out the back, parallel to each other like the stock exhaust. I have no tips, just turndows under the bumper. Mine does drone but it's because it's loud (I have Dynomax Bullet mufflers), and I'm used to the drone now so most of the time it's liveable.
I dont understand y people put duels in to single out u have the set up ready for duels run it out duels plus if u put tail pipes it sounds so much better
Fax, from expirements I've done...the only one that sounds good as a cut off (under the front seats) are the long glass packs, everything else just gets muffled from the bass
i think the glasspack sounds the best out of all of them, with the turbo in second. I am curious as to why you still have those running boards on the side.
Thanks for the detailed video! I have dual flowmasters on my 97! If you'd like i can take a video with the demonstrations you did and upload it for you to see!
Everybody uses the long tips for single or dual exhaust. Nobody ever uses them for a quad tip exhaust. That's right, I said *4* 3.5", 18" long exhaust tips.
Seafoam that engine youll be amazed how itll quiet them knocks...oils not getting up topend tickity tickity...dig tha vid like the comparison n fact you showed sound under load instead of just reving it up...makes big diff👍
If the Yukon is a family commuter then probably ought to put the turbo on it. If that car was mine id put a borla or heck straight pipe it. Keep up the great work!!
smrtrbl86 depends on how much your willin to spend. Corsa makes exhaust that has little resonance but it costs about a grand! Most mufflers like thrush, borla, dynomax, and others (again depends on what type) you will usually have mild drone about 1500 rpm enough to hear but not distracting.
@@maynardreed8374 no I don't like drone, I only have it dumped cuz it was when I got it so I just unclamped the old muffler and clamped on the new one I'm still gonna put it out them bumper , full exhaust always sounds better , but honestly I dont have drone but I do in my full exhaust bel air with the same setup 350,headers, true duals, no cats, with magnaflow
Cool good to know. Mine was starting to do that noise and I figured it was time to change the fuel pump again. Pain in the ass. But now it makes sense since it's rare when a yukn is quite with fuel pump related. Thanks and cool videos bro I love then glass paks. Goin to throw some on my 76 Monte Carlo. Oh yea!!
I thought the extreme sounded the best on my Yukon. The Vortex is a good choice too. The glasspack would eventually give you a straight pipe sound as the fiberglass burns out...I guess I'm saying, it's hard to decide! Extreme would probably be my choice if it were my truck.
Back in the seventies and eighties when I was young they said pick the glass backs on backwards of make some back bar and pop back in the seventies and eighties that's what they all told me when I was a teenager to try that see how it sounds is it a myth or is it right that never see them put it on they always said that they go to put it going the right way will know
I can't say exactly, but the dual pipes on my Yukon were 2" pipes. I got a 2 1/2" Y pipe not realizing the duals were smaller. I ended up getting some 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 adapters (I think that was the measurements) to make it fit.
30" overall length, 2 1/2" diameter. Part No. 87516CB. I used adapters to connect it into my exhaust. I got this sized glasspack to run it on my 99 silverado, 97 camaro, and will try it on my 03 trailblazer. You may need a different diameter muffler to fit your particular vehicle.
Which Cherry Bomb sounds best on the Yuckon? A. Extreme B. Turbo C. Vortex D. Glasspack Be sure to check out the Cherry Bomb sound tests on my 99 Silverado here: ua-cam.com/video/7E-kUQLqpzg/v-deo.html
To be honest none of those sound good you should throw all of them away and go get a flow master doesn't even matter what series any of them will sound better than that
Flowmasters sound terrible. thrush is cheaper and sounds better. Flowmasters are just a name and that's it. Everyone wants one on their vehicle because "muh good flow" and "muh noise". flownasters actually flow terrible and sound like a dying car
Not gonna lie. I liked the video because of the knock knock joke
LOL, thanks!
On god
Everyone made that v8 sound nice. I like the balance the glasspack has.

Thank you for your work, the tests and for your effort, God bless you I LOVE EXTREME
I personally liked how the extreme sounded from start up and pass by
My favorite as well!
i have a 1998. you saved me a lot of leg work. great video...thank you
Knock knock joke hurt my feeling lol, my old suburban started knocking and locked up the same day
Darrien Richardson dang sorry to hear that!
For anyone using 2 1/2 on a 5.7 I recommend the long glass pack, everything else just gets muffled by the bass it creates

So that’s what a 7 cylinder engine would sound like, eh? Lmao

Awesome job. Thank you for sharing, brother.
I dont understand y people put duels in to single out u have the set up ready for duels run it out duels plus if u put tail pipes it sounds so much better
Money, it's cheaper and doesn't effect the vehicle enough for 99% of drivers.
Vortex for me! Considering to try that for my 2012 RAM 1500 5.7l.
Without having any tailpipes out the back it was pretty hard to tell the sound difference from outside the SUV. All the noise was in the cab lol
Fax, from expirements I've done...the only one that sounds good as a cut off (under the front seats) are the long glass packs, everything else just gets muffled from the bass

I'm curious as to why I shouldn't?
I took them off of mine. I find the looks to be more appealing without them. Then again, i guess it matters who rides with you in it.
Cool. It's never even crossed my mind to remove 'em.
Thanks for the detailed video! I have dual flowmasters on my 97! If you'd like i can take a video with the demonstrations you did and upload it for you to see!
Do a comparison between the cherry bomb extreme and no muffler at all
Cherry bomb extreme is the best.
for sure I need that for my tuck 5.4L
Good choice

Get a 12” glass pack from in to out like what I just got for my 5.7. true dual catless if you think that extreme so loud try that lol
ZzXShadow69XzZ that's what my truck has had for 16 years lol
Glasspacks !, but the extreme sounds badass too
Turbo is my type
A tail pipe would of helped the sound alot. All i hear is suckin air for back pressure.
I like that bass sound to the turbo. Its deep
Hands down, glasspack.
If the Yukon is a family commuter then probably ought to put the turbo on it. If that car was mine id put a borla or heck straight pipe it. Keep up the great work!!
Matthew Green thanks man
borla ?? is that good? I should try that on one of my cars or truck
My question about doing exhaust is resonance... how much noise is there in the cab now? I like my quiet exhaust how it doesn't drone.

Shoutout to cheif wahoo
Needs a tailpipe if nothing else to get get rid of that under car drone.
If I had one, I'd definitely put it on.
Agree but on my 2 door I got long tubes no headers and magnaflows dumped with no drone 😂
@@810SPEED you probably dont hear it because you like it.

Has anyone ever heard of or tried running a glasspack and an extreme? Just wondering if that would sound good
Cody Massey ua-cam.com/video/UMDjT6DA96I/v-deo.html I gave it a try, just for kicks.
Where did you get the cherry bomb extreme muffler what's the part number? & site
you should do a v6 or any 4.3 vehicles with the cherrybombs u have that be so helpful for the people who want to get a better tone from there 4.3s
I will be doing a video with my 3.8L V6 Camaro some point soon.
Thank you this is informative
Glass pack!!
Vortek 100 %
Sounds like u need a new fuel pump nice video gota love them glass packs
TheUnholy187 na that's just typically obs chevy fuel pump nvr seen one with a quite one

By the way I have the same Yukon 99. Love my truk. My daily driver but I have flows on mine. Sounds really good even for stock exhaust.
Why isn’t the video watchable? Everytime I’ve tried watching it says “no stream” I can watch every other video on yt
Vortex baby...vortex
Its hard to find an exhaust system that drowns out the fuel pump whine, these sound good but kind of like the car has phlegm stuck in its throat 😅
2:37 woa softly
How is the resonance? I hate exhaust that drones in the cab. Seeing as how I drive long distances daily in my burb...
It wasn't that bad. The resonance seemed louder in my Silverado. The Yukon cabin is much bigger, so it seemed quieter to me.
The Daninator cool deal. Maybe since the burban is even larger. I love the throaty sound of a SBC.
Wanting to put one of these on my k2500 suburban with a big block in it
Awesome! It'll sound great!
The Daninator which do you think would sound the most aggressive? Loudness isn't an issue as I live in the sticks.
I thought the extreme sounded the best on my Yukon. The Vortex is a good choice too. The glasspack would eventually give you a straight pipe sound as the fiberglass burns out...I guess I'm saying, it's hard to decide! Extreme would probably be my choice if it were my truck.
For the price 👍 but if you can afford it Gibson metal militia
Thank you your awesome

I can’t start the video, it says “No Stream, Tap to Retry.” Someone help me

I have a 1997 Chevy suburban 5.7 what size is the piping?
My 99 yukon as dual 2" pipes going into the stock muffler. I believe it is a 2.5" single outlet tailpipe. Mine rusted off, so I'm not 100% sure.
2 3/4
I have a 1998 c1500 5.7, what size y pipe do i need?

Did the vortex drone a lot?
Is the vortex or turbo louder?
Should of tried a shorter glasspack
What size glass pack was that
30" overall length, 2 1/2" diameter. Part No. 87516CB. I used adapters to connect it into my exhaust. I got this sized glasspack to run it on my 99 silverado, 97 camaro, and will try it on my 03 trailblazer. You may need a different diameter muffler to fit your particular vehicle.
if you want to sound like a Tesla, go with a Turbo muffler.
Which one did you keep on there?
Clayton Brush I had the extreme on there for a while, then switched over to the glasspack. Both sounded really good to me.
I was thinking the extreme as well, thanks!
Excellent choice

What size inlet diameter was it?
No stream tap to retry?

Should do a comparision of all the black widow exhaust that are available, you'll probably go broke doing it but itll be a great comparison lol
That would be awesome, but being broke ain't fun!

The Daninator glasspack
They all sound good didn't care too much for the turbo
