    I have to say these oil lamps add a really nice ambience as well! Sometimes we just use them to switch things up a bit and have a really nice dinner by their soft glow...try it sometime!

    Thank you for your video. I have a question. Can you add essential oils for scent?

      You could use another oil, you just want to make sure it isn't a toxic oil as some can be (like canola). I just buy the cheapest olive oil on the market and it will last quite awhile. Thanks for watching!

    Besides the concerns with the off gases related to candles that are made in China, or candles made with questionable materials, you need to consider that while the olive oil is super to use for health, the wire she is using may be a concern. If the jewelry wire is not sterling silver and it is a metal that might be sourced from China or made with heavy metals like Cadmium or Lead, then when the candle is heating the wire, you are probably also breathing that metal. This is the issue with the metal disks that manufacturers use to secure the wicks in cheaper candles from the Dollar Store. The wicks are also made with lead and the cotton is secured around the lead piece of metel.

      Thanks for the info., that is definitely something to consider!

    Does that wire have to be copper? I have the same wire but its steel.

      @@Paulieinspiration I don't think it matters, just something to withstand the heat. I happened to have copper on hand :)

    I made a candle in a teacup and when lit for a while, it dramatically cracked. Would these be any different?

      @lifewithaprons  3 місяці тому +1

      @@dutchhill1612 I have not had a problem with my tea cups cracking and I have burned the oil lamp for hours. Maybe it depends on the tea cup, I’m not sure. These are just cute tea cups I found at the thrift store :)

    The flames looked like they were smoking.. Were they? is it just a wick trimming to stop? Do you need to keep the holder full so there's no flame jump on the wick? I'm currently using copper tubing to sleeve the wick through to remove flame jump. Haven't yet tried olive oil, using liquid paraffin currently. Nicely done video!

    • @lifewithaprons
      @lifewithaprons  Рік тому +1

      Yes, it does smoke some so you don't want to put it on a shelf or anything like that where there is something above it. I don't need to keep the holder full, I just fill it once it goes down a bit and I don't have a problem. Thanks for the feedback!
