How to update the firmware on your Flashback 2 Delay (below).
    You will need:
    • a computer running Microsoft Windows or OS X with a standard USB interface
    • the specified DC power supply for your pedal.
How to prepare the firmware update:
    1) Download the newest firmware for Flashback 2 Delay
    - Choose an updater: Microsoft Windows (these are ZIP archives containing
the firmware installer) or OS X (these are disk image files containing the
    firmware installer).
    2) Unplug all cables (including the power supply) from your TC pedal.
    3) Connect the pedal to your computer using a USB cable.
    4) Press and hold the footswitch on your TC pedal. If your TC pedal has more than one footswitch, press and hold the leftmost footswitch.
    5) Insert the DC power supply plug.
    6) The LED on your pedal should turn green. If your TC pedal has more than one LED, the leftmost LED should turn green. This indicates that the pedal is ready to receive the software update.
    7) Release the footswitch.
    8) Your TC pedal will now be recognized as an update-able device.
    Applying the firmware update:
    1) Quit all MIDI-related applications (e.g. your DAW) on your computer and launch the firmware updater you have downloaded in step 1.
    2) In the firmware updater app, select your TC pedal from the drop-down list under the “STEP 1” heading.
    3) When the “Update” button under the “STEP 2” heading turns green, click it.
    4) The updated firmware will now be transferred to your TC pedal. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. When the update procedure is complete, the pedal will automatically restart.
    You're all set!

Build a tap tempo switch with USB connector, and with a small firmware update, all pedals of this series will have tap tempo, MASH and stereo operation at the same time.

it would be enough for the tap tempo to be activated when the switch was pressed more than twice quickly, and everything would work on the same button. Mash - press and hold, tap tempo - press 3 times or faster ... it seems so simple.

    • @ValterKabas
      @ValterKabas 3 роки тому

the simple fact of activating the tap tempo function, even without using an external pedal, already eliminates the stereo function ... this is very sad, but it seems more of an implementation problem than a limitation of the pedal.

I believe that it would be possible to have both functions on the same button, think about it, smash usually works by holding the button, different from the tap tempo that works by quickly pressing the same button.

It'd be freaking awesome to have a toggle switch on the pedal to select between the mash effect or the tap tempo, or something that allows the user to use the tap tempo and mash without doing none of those things I mentioned, since for the mash effect it's needed to push for a few seconds whereas the tap tempo you, duh, need to tap the tempo as you want
Even though it's a killer pedal, hope I can get it soon

You guys are absolutely knocking it out of the park, it's like you read my mind with this new tap-tempo update on the FB II! I still love the mash feature but what a great option to have.
I've converted nearly my whole board to TC pedals: Vortex, Corona, Flashback II, HOF II, and Mimiq.
Also, having the Toneprint app with the ability to beam settings from a smartphone is the most useful, forward-thinking, and fun feature I've ever come across in a pedal.

Personally, I’d rather have the external tap. I find using the MASH switch as my tap tempo is a hassle to use live. It makes it difficult to turn off the delay quickly to change from one specific part to another. Fortunately, I don’t usually play in stereo, so that works out for me.

I really love the Flashback 2, great job TCE! I have one suggestion. From time to time it can be difficult on stage to hear if the tempo of an subtile delay is right. Is it possible to program the led to blink in tempo while mash is enabled? So the led blinks in tempo and when you press the footswitch it shows the mashfunction. Or that the led shows only the tempo und you use the mash by feel. I am using an external tap tempo. Kind regards.

So wait, you can ONLY do tap tempo on TonePrint sounds, but not all the regular sounds???
EDIT: Now I’ve updated, and tap tempo appears to be a global function. I didn’t change anything via TonePrint software… that doesn’t seem to work as I was expecting from the video. And now it appears MASH no longer functions on ANY of the sounds? Is the ONLY way to switch between MASH functionality and Tap Tempo functionality, to change it by connecting the pedal to a PC? Because that’s pretty screwed up if I’m understanding correctly…

    Firmware Update Procedure.
The procedure requires a PC or Mac with a standard USB Interface and a 9V/100mA DC power supply.
Do following steps before you start the firmware update application on your PC or Mac:
    1. Unplug all cables from the pedal.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Connect the pedal to a PC or Mac with the USB cable.
    4. Press and hold the footswitch on the pedal.
    5. Insert a DC plug with 9V/100mA power supply.
    6. Check that the LED on the pedal turns on with green light.
    7. Release the footswitch.
Now your PC or Mac will recognize the pedal which is ready to receive a new firmware:
    8. Launch the firmware update application.
    9. (STEP1) Select the pedal in the combo box (see note).
    10. (STEP2) Press the update button when it turns green.
    11. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100% and for the pedal to automatically restart.
Note: You should select "USB Audio Device", if you use Windows XP.

  • @Skatapow

This is insanely good and what we (probably) all needed. Excellent work BUT I can't seem to get it to work quite right for me:
The firmware update stops at 60%, I get the message "update successful". I disable the mash and the blinking starts. All good. But the delay I'm getting is not right, it doesn't correspond to the blinking tempo. On this video it seems right but the delay I get is faster, on the dotted eighth. Only when I set to combined mode, the blink coincides with the 2nd delay. But this makes it unusable for me. Plus that's not what I see on the video here.

@@joegriffithsmusic after I gave up on that pedal I bought the tc electronic plethora and it’s was super awesome and you can customize everything. Eventually I sold it for something different. But yeah I agree. Right now I only use the strymon deco, which lets you get up to 200ms delay.

Apple will not let me run the update. Here is the message: “TonePrint” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. Any suggestions?
