His death scene was emotional (good music in background & visuals & acting) and the scene was set to evoke a tear or two but that line about Bury me in the ocean... hit like 10x Earth gravity. It took me out of the theater for a few seconds and made me reflect. I was watching this with my boy and we both looked at each other like.... Damn they really just went there. It was a heavy & beautiful scene.

Lewis Klaw was an Eh villain to me, like every other villain. He didn’t have any particular motives besides money, in the comics he might be more fleshed out, but in the movie he just seemed eh. Your classic “I’m a crazy bad guy villain” with Kill-monger he at least had motives and you felt like what he was doing was a lil but justified. I just don’t think he’s a good villain for an origin story, for just a random villain yeah he works. But he wouldn’t leave a permanent impact on the mc and change his word views/actions

Michael B J “Killmonger” wasn’t the villain in that movie I’d argue. He was the anti-hero. Ulysses Klaue was the villain. Killmonger had good intentions, just not good ideologies about how to fulfill them. The Malcom X to the Martin. Not a villain, just anti-hero.

I’m not sure if I agree with that sentiment. Malcolm advocated for a state of black independence that relied on violence only for self-defense. Erik uses violence no matter the circumstances and outright advocates for murdering children. Both MLK and Malcolm were fighting for something based on the love for black people, Erik fights based off of hate and a want for supremacy. That’s what makes him not a hero.
The conflict between T’Challa and Erik has less to do with lack of equality/use of violence and more to do with isolationism.

If a black character having a father from the most advance civilization in the world that happens to be in Africa then he is killed. Leaving you to grow up in a world of racism where you don't feel you belong and then you find out not only that this city exist but they killed your father and left you there creating this anger. Leading you to work for the country you hate to one day return to the country that you with every reason possible hate but only to get there and want to make it better for yourself and save all other black people who suffered. If this isn't a complex character flawed by his anger that is justified in his feelings of abandonment then I don't know what complexity is in film.
And let us not forget at the end of the movie his dream is achieved and the boarders are opened and there is plans to help others around the world. His belief was there, his execution is what killed him.

I dont even think it was his execution honestly i just think it was how passive aggressive and forgiving we are as a people. Instead of taking whats rightfully ours we settle for the scraps and make lemonade out of the few lemons we are given instead of taking the seeds and planting our own tree. Black panther wasn't supposed to be an action movie, it was a symbolic movie about Africans vs African Americans, Chad was representing africa, while michael was the "angry black man" so he did play his character right. The movie was great in the fact it was a film with a black cast where it wasn’t a black struggle movie about how traumatic it is to be black. It was a movie where you saw black people with culture, pride and dignity. Outside of that the movie as a stand-alone film was okay.

I been saying this shit since the movie came out. They shoved so much shit into one movie probably thinking it wouldn't do well. 3 villains, changed most of their stories. Movie was barely about Ta'challa, he essentially took a back seat in his own movie. Ta'challa loses, cheats, and everyone cheers for him as a hero simply because hes suppose to be the hero. They spent barely anytime on Wakanda and its culture or gods.
First movie should have been a legit origin story about ta'challa and how he decides to come into king and black panther, Klaw should have been the villain all the way through (my man is a main villain for black panther and they kill him off the fuck) HELL they could have had White Wolf be the main villain since killing him off would do nothing to the MCU, spent at least 30 minutes on Wakanda weaving that into Ta'Challa coming into his own, they could have kept M'baku as the anti-hero he STARTED off as letting them later turn him into man-ape, they can't do that anymore it makes no sense.
But no, they kill off 2/3 of his main enemies, make one into his friend, have him lose a 1on 1 sacred battle that nobody is allowed to interfere in, have his family steal a sacred herb they shouldn't be allowed to touch EVER, have him be rescued by multiple people, give him the herb he is stripped of before the sacred battle - the same herb NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO HAVE, have ta'challa get better because his family has STOLEN from their NEW KING who won it FAIRLY, have ta'challa comeback and say "the fights not over" when clearly it was - he would have died without everyones help and that is a strict disregard of the rules meaning he'd be disqualified and lost either way, have the people who would rather have him as a king betray Killmonger THEIR RIGHTFUL KING, then kill Killmonger and think its fine because he's going to help the poor oakland kids.
If you switch Killmonger and T'challa from the 2nd challange you'd say Killmonger was easily the villain but becuase it's ta'challa you all want to pretend its okay. It's not. Nigga cheated.

also yes we wanted to root for tchalla and the way he had others helped him just made the audience be able to connect more with him. tht gives depth, when its not just a superhero with special powers and can do anything. the mcu does great at creating an in depth story for the characters to be able to grow later on.
also one last thing to close it out. since when did mcu films only give a superhero just one movie and called it a day? give it time, plus we all knew we were going to see more of tchalla in infinity war. plus they are going to come out with black panther two, PLUS he is a big character for phase two of the mcu. soo take this essay as you will. .. lol

Doboy also think Olive Garden was real, quality italian, that Moonlight was meh and that Tyler Perry makes good movies, so we can’t really trust his opinions cus they never built up they’re just made, to contradict the majority blindly, mcu movies aren’t great they’re good, never revolutionary cus they’re formulaic even with new things added, stand alones are harder to make cus you’re coming for one and not a plethora of characters.
It was good for what it was but people wanted to give it more meaning, weight and importance cus he was the first black superhero in the mcu but the scenario is bound to be similar to other superhero movies thou they made a conscious effort to be as authentic as a marvel movie set in Africa can be. I like that he might question popular things but think before speaking thinking it’ll make you right.
Had to let it out cus I’ve been binge watching their content and it’s a constant with him and Kevin doesn’t challenge his views enough for me.

Killmonger made a perfect villain for T'challa. His whole thing was fearing he would make bad decisions as king. Then to find out his role model, who he based his idea of what a king should be off of, messed up. Killmonger was the first decision T'challa had to make and Killmonger knew he would win without black panther powers in play. He also thwarted BPs attempt to earn respect by rescuing Klaue and delivering him when their king couldn't.

Absolutely agree with you. I will never understand the accent criticism since Wakanda was a fictional place. Accents are different within countries let alone an entire continent. Some one from Chicago has a completely different accent than someone from Texas or someone from the Boston...and that’s within the country, if we push that out to the continent of North America no one would ever confuse a person from Montreal accent with a person from Guadalajara.

What Kev is most likely referencing is that Chadwick Boseman (T'Chala) made up the accent he was using in the movie based on different african accents. It is greatly based on Xhosa but he worked with a dialect couch to make use of different african influences.
The language spoken in Wakanda is in fact Xhosa. Kev (just like me) mixed up those statements.

Omg finallyyyy someone said it! The concept was so great... and when I saw it i was so disappointed.
