Mini-Skid Steer Madness!-Very Steep Brush Cutting/Forestry Mulching On Hillside
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 вер 2021
- This job tested the limits of my mini skid steer for sure! This customer wanted this steep slope going up their driveway to be cleared of brush and vegetation. I was able to access entire slope with mini skid steer. Although, at the steepest portion of slope I was having fun "sliding" down hill and brush cutting at same time. It just took a few extra trips to the shorter section to go back down steep section to clear everything. If you were wondering how far to take a mini skid steer I think this video may be for you! I honestly did not feel unsafe at all the entire job, but there was definitely some skill involved to know proper angle/direction to go up/down hill. I wouldn't recommend for a beginner on a mini skid steer. This job was also unique in that I was able land or slide out onto the stable surface of a driveway. So, I always had an out once skidding down the hill. I could reload by driving back up the driveway to the top. If this slope was ending into a creek or steep ravine it would not have worked. But, with the low center of gravity of the Vermeer 925( mini skid steer) it cleared the brush like a champ! Once everything was cut down, I then used my Everything Attachments Wicked Root Grapple to scrape the debris into a pile. It was loaded and hauled to green waste recyclers. Thanks for watching!

I’m in the Finger lakes region of NY. Getting into brush clearing as a side gig. The hope is that it’s less time and weather sensitive than traditional lawn care.
So far, virtually every job I’ve done has tested the “safe” limits of a compact tractor and I have no desire to roll a tractor.
Rented a Billy goat walk behind for a job today and while it’s a good machine, it wore me out pretty good running it 3.5 hours so far and I’ve got another 3-5 hrs to go just on this one job. I’d love to PM someone to discuss how to charge enough to justify good machinery without totally scaring your customers away. I assume it’s like a lot of other things, people will pay for integrity and a job well done. Thanks! Marv
Looks like an absolute ton of work, you have totally changed my mindset about mini skids.
Thanks for watching!
I really enjoy watching you at work and I enjoy watching someone that takes pride in there work...Great job
Thank you!
With the precision of a barber. I like it
Good job! This really shows what mini skids are capable of.
Thank you!
I can’t believe I sat and watched you do the entire job. I think I was hypnotized. 😂 Anyway thank you for speeding it up. You saved me an hour of my life. Anyway great job! I love that machine.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome machine. Hillside looks great.
Great job
Thanks for the video. Gave me idea to clear a 1 acre lot. Overgrown with the same type of brush. Hopefully I can rent one.
That machine is slicker than snot, as the saying goes. Great job.
Thank you!
I work for a county road department. I mow our hillsides with a skid steer, they are steeper than that. A full sized skid steer could have handled that no problem. I'm digging your little mini. That looks like it would come in handy. Looked like a beast.
That's good to know. Thanks for the info!
Fantastic job
Your finished work was excellent
Thanks for watching!
Excellent job. Love that mini skidder!
Thank you!
I had no idea there were mulchers for these ride on mini's. I've been looking at a mt100 for a while now and this is great to see!
Have a mt100 as well did you ever manage to get it for your machine and if you did how was it.
Great work Tim from Australia 🇦🇺.
Thank you!
I think between a skid steer, a mini skid, and a compact tractor that a mini skid would be one of the best options for me. a cabbed skid would be great for the air conditioning but standing on the machine like that would probably be a lot better on my back. i am looking to get a stand on mower soon i hope and i believe it will help my back a whole lot. i hope to eventaully expand my services and one of those 3 machines i listed would be how i would do so and like i said i think the mini would be great. not quite as capable as a full size, but much better on the body
love your videos man. great job out there .
Glad you like them!
Usually work the bottom half first then come from the top and work it sideways.I use a cat 299d2 to cut right of ways for the power company..Dingos are good machines as well and in this case worked perfect
Nice! This hillside was covered in small pieces of shale rock which made it much less grippy in areas with tracks. Most areas it fine but some I was just along for the ride! This only worked because I had the driveway to catch me and getvturned around. If it was going right into water then I never could have pulled it off! Thanks for watching!

Good job
That was impressive work very nice job.
If you're reading comments, I'd like to know how long that took?
Thx

It’s about time
i've been looking at mini-skid steers for brush cutting like what you are doing. i think the Vermeer 925 may have the longest "footprint" of tracks on the ground than others i've looked at. i think the long tracks are an advantage for working on hills. have you used any other mini-skids on hills other than the Vermeer 925 and if you have, which brands and how did they perform compared to the Vermeer? thanks.
Just the Vermeer. Unfortunately I do not have any knowledge on other brands
I need this man. Doing some land clearing with a chainsaw and man power. This would be so much easier. Did you buy a used one to start????
New from Blue Diamond. But if I buy another one, it will be from Express Steel expresssteelinc.com/product/42-toro-dingo-brush-cutter/
Same manufacturer, just a different brand on it!
Awesome
Excellent job. Hillside looks great. How long did it take to put the track back on?
That time. 30 minutes or so. But I have improved and now have a Ridgid Impact wrench which speeds up the process. Now down to about 20 minutes or so. Thanks for watching!
What nrand attachment is that mower/Mulcher? Great video!
Blue Diamond. You can buy exact same one from Express Steel which are less expensive. It just says Express Steel on it. It's made by Laufflin Fabricators
Interesting video. Would love to have it to clear trails through the woods. What is biggest size it will cut?
4-6" diamater trees.
Great job! Does the blue diamond brush cutter ever overheat your 925tx?
I have not had that issue yet. I'll run for a whole day but typically stop thru the day to run chainsaw. So not continuous. Thanks for watching!
@@SchottServices thanks for replying Schott. I've been on the fence on direct drive vs gearbox.
are you bothered the track continually comes off? I'm looking at switching to this exact machine ...Best,Steve
It only happens when I get into jobs like this where I am brush cutting and there are hidden stumps after cutting down brush. It's when I have to turn sharp and don't see a stump that it pops off. It seems to happen every time I brush cut, but I am not brush cutting every day. Very rarely does it happen any other time.
Can you only run that cutter on high flow side of .achine or on both?
Just high flow.
Do you write up a contract with clients beforehand? Like if there's something hidden in the bushes, you're but liable. I do work with my mt100, I want to get a flail mower (first) to do land clearing I usually just level out yards, demo concrete etc
I do not. I give them am estimate on the job but typically just write in any possible road blocks that might occur.
Whats your biggest complaint of this machine? Im looking at a Kubota
I'd like it to have same speed for reverse as forward. The machine can overheat if running a high use hydraulic attachment such as a brush cutter. But as long as you keep blowing out radiator it seems to be fine. My machine is gas so I would assume a diesel would be better. But I had someone contact me recently saying they were having same issues with diesel and brush cutter. I have only ran gas machines. Toro Dingo was first machine and now have had 2 800s, 2 925s and now on 2nd set of 925s. This machine does everything I need it to do on a daily basis. All in all the machine is a beast!
@SchottServices thanks. I currently have a Kubota BX, but have been thinking about an upgrade. I see your in the Indy area. I'm over in Peoria, IL.
Nice work👍🏼 where you located?
Indianapolis
Nice work on the brush. Any problems with the radiator clogging up and the machine overheating? Wondering because I have a Bobcat MT100 and mower on order.
No problems. Thanks for watching!
What kind of mower or mulcher do you order for the MT100?
Dealer ordered a Blue Diamond, 42 inch open front cutter. I'm still waiting for the machine from Bobcat. Going on 10 months.
They told me I should be getting mine by end of next month but I needed to figure out what kind of brushcutter is one of the best. I also want to get an adaptor from MT100 to Mini Excavator Takeuchi TB235 so I cab use the brushcutter and attachmnets.
@@hectormunoz4210 I am not sure that the cutter would change from mini loader to mini excavator, I have not seen that advertized by anyone. I got the BD cutter because I was supposed to get the MT in 60 days. There are other cutters with the same specs for half of what I paid for the BD. Check RUT, IDIGTX, MTL and other manufacturers for their cutters. Most are a lot less $$$ for the same quality of cutter.
I wonder what that job paid
What year and size is the mini skid ? What make is the brush cutter ?
2019 925 gas. Blue Diamond Brush cutter
❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍
what kind of brush cutter is that again is that the 40 hp model or 25 i got to get one of these
40 hp gas. Blue Diamond
started looking at the price of this machine seems alittle high the kabota scl is about the same specs 20 grand less have you any thoughts on the scl 1000
I haven't looked at them yet. I think much less horsepower though
Do you do quite a bit of business like this? What type of money?
@scotthitchcock4900 very little. This was a one of kind job! But have done a few more slopes but nothing like this job!
have you ever tipped your over?
Unfortunately yes! But not on this job thankfully! Only flippdedon it's side though. Never rolled it. That would be scary!
How long did it take to complete this job?
1 day
What attachment are you using??
Mini brush cutter
Hi !!! I am also interested in buying a shredder, can you tell me the price and where to buy it? Thanks
It's a Blue Diamond.
What attachment is that and brand
Blue Diamond Brush cutter
What make is the cutter ?
Blue Diamond but Loflin Fabrications makes them for Blue Diamond. Someone else mentioned that on here. Express Steel in Martinsville, IN sells the Loflin version
How fast you think that this is capable of clearing .54 acre of land?
Maybe a half a day to a day. Depends on how thick/tall the brush is needing cut
@@SchottServices i have massive amounts of azalea i need to clear out like bushes 30 feet wide and 15 feet tall lol
What’s the series on that machine
What brand brush cutter are you using?
Blue diamond
What type of mulch you applied? Thanks
No mulch applied
Man I want this machine so bad I’m 18 in Florida was quoted 35k for the machine would take it out in payment but just to afraid that I won’t find any work
And then u have to buy all the attachments 100 grand
@@randywilson6869 no way it would get that high in less I were to buy like 15 different attachments
@@damianpascual97 Total cost includes dump trailer, truck, and John must have at least 8 attachments. Those attachments aren't cheap. But start small, Damian, work hard like John, and build up you array of attachments. I'm sure most successful people begin somewhere small and then grow their business. Work hard and you will get there. 🙂
I started with a $700 pickup truck and $700 trailer. Buy a used machine and build up. No one cares what your equipment looks like as long as they can trust you. You gain trust by under promising and over delivering! Do what you say you are going to do! Integrity has been lost in many contractors this day in age!
Start renting till you have the work. Buy the atachments first and rent the mower. Attachments you can sell fast in case it doesnt work.out for you and rental of the machine is not expensive just added to your bill.
What grapple are you using?
Everything Attachments. Com mini Root Grapple
Hello,
Its 3 blades ?

@@SchottServices what do you think of brushcat for mini-skid ?
Ps : i ordered the 925 44hp :)
@@Lecureuildesjardins it's good
@@SchottServices
found a used model that has 650 hours
a 44hp gasoline engine is $37,000
does that sound like a good price to you?
today this new model is worth $53,000 in France...
@@Lecureuildesjardins that sounds right
What model mulcher is that?
It's closed front model
Cost for head?
5-7k I believe.
How much did you charge?
Unfortunately I do not give pricing on how much I charge but do appreciate you watching the video!
how much money is this machine
40-45k for machine
Oprostite koja valuta je u pitanju
You need a OSMA SSK90. faster much more efficient
Send one my way and let me demo it! I talked to a dealer earlier this year but there are none in Indy to test out. I will make an awesome video about it for you!
I might be seeing things but I think you diced up a turtle around the 4:30 mark? Not trying to be an A-hole or anything I used to drive a mulching machine on a golf course I've probably ground up birds, snakes and ever kind of rodent on the planet during my time.
Ha! I watched again. That was a big rock. That whole hillside was loaded with sandstone. Thanks for watching!
