Tear DOWN This Wall: Mini Skid Steer vs. Colossal Concrete Block Wall

  • This job entailed the removal of a colossal retaining wall made of concrete blocks. Once the blocks and buried debris are removed, 4 triaxles of earth are moved throughout the sloped backyard. The backyard is on a steep hill, but the customer prefers the hill over the dilapidated wall.
    This job would have been difficult for larger machines to navigate the small backyard. The mini skid steer was perfect for demolishing block Wall, re-grading the hillside and maneuvering throughout the narrow gates. Schott Services is your "backyard demolition specialist"!

    Great job. From my construction days, block walls can be calculated height (3 blocks high is 24"), width (3 blocks wide is 48"). So if you need to know for other service installations and FORGOT, your measuring tape, you can still get a good idea.

    We had a large retaining wall in our backyard fall over and had to have it reconstructed. Frankly, I’m surprised that these people did not want to rebuild the retaining wall because that is going to be one heck of a slope with water running right down against their house, but you did a great job and the people who first installed it obviously never put any drainage behind it for water to be able to drain through the wall, which ultimately pushed it forward, but bearing trash and concrete behind it only added to the problem that’s a lot of fill to have toreconfigure in that yard that’s already on a steep slope

    • @SchottServices
      @SchottServices  21 день тому

      It was definitely an interesting job, for sure! They looked at it for several years like that and had other contractors look at it to fix or tear it down. I think most were concerned about being able to get a machine back there. Yes, it's definitely a sloped backyard. But to expensive to replace the wall and not worth repairing.

    • @ajsemtb
      @ajsemtb 10 місяців тому

      @@tractorworkandmore411 Yes, it's ok. There's no fluid flowing through that connection until it is activated with a control stick. I do it all the time. However, sometimes, I can't because there is pressure built up in the lines from heat/cold, so I shut off my machine, and lock the control valve in the "on" position (fwd or reverse; doesn't matter. Mine has a detent in the reverse direction, so that's what I use) and connect it without problem. But most of the time, you just hook it up and go.

    • @tractorworkandmore411
      @tractorworkandmore411 10 місяців тому
