- Paul Reubens, the actor known for playing Pee-wee Herman, left a statement with his team to share with the public after his death: “Please accept my apology for not going public with what I’ve been facing the last six years,” Reubens wrote. “I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters. I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you.”
He didn't need to apologize. Cancer is a personal battle. RIP Mr. Reubens.

Amen to that… no matter what kind of skeletons he had in his closet and getting busted for he still fought the long 6 year battle with cancer and I don’t wish cancer on anybody for even a one week or one day battle WHATSOEVER…..may God give him his super clean slate in life now and rest him in His loving arms eternally. 🙏❤

I'm nearly 50, had a brush with death, and since then this stuff rarely bothers me. I just get an unusually calm acceptance (and reminder) that we're all mortal.
But this loss really REALLY hurts.
Totally understand what you're expressing, life is fragile and can be taken from us at any moment........all I know is that we should spend as much time as possible with those closest to us and leave a positive legacy behind for people to remember us by🙏

I feel sad for him for wanting to keep his illness to himself and not telling anyone for the last 6 years. I guess he didn't want them to worry.

RIP, Paul Reuben, his death hits all of us, especially us 80s babies so hard, because it now feels like part of our childhood was torn and taken from us. No matter what anybody said about this man, he entertains, and from what I saw in many interviews he was genuinely a kind man who loved his fans. Life is so short, ladies and gents, please tell everyone in your family you love them every day, and hug your parents if they are still alive because this life is way too short.

My absolute favorite Pee Wee line! I say that all the time when I'm playing Pickleball, my favorite sport, whenever I get a lucky bounce off the net or something like that. So far, not a single person has gotten the reference. although most find it funny. Reubens was awesome.

The way to get over cancer is to live your life as if cancer isn’t taking over you. For some, I t’s hard to do that if the world is only asking about about your cancer.

I remember when I was kid, he came to a mall in Dallas where kids could dress up and compete for best peewee impression. I dressed up and went, got there, and chickened out 😂 He was an odd duck, but I had fond memories of peewee playhouse and his movies later. Rest in peace 🙏
He was not an odd duck, he was an original, a very funny guy and he is loved by billions. There is NO NEED to be derogatory in any way whatsoever...geesh.
In my family, and growing up as a teenager Paul Reubens as Peewee, brought so much laughter and joy into our lives every week. We would always have his show on every Saturday morning. WhenMy grandchildren were small, I always played Pee-Wee for them because it was on Netflix. The happiness that he brought to the world can never be measured. I just hope that future generations get to enjoy. As much as we did.we love you, Peewee ♥️♥️

I rarely get emotional when celebs die….but this one hit me hard…a spent some of the most quality time in my childhood being entertained and giggling w this guy. His show is timeless.

I did not know he passed away. He was such an incredible guy. I remember his show, Pee-wee's Playhouse, and how innovative it was. I was deeply saddened and disgusted by his treatment following his famous arrest. We should've stormed the Bastille in his defense but no, everyone just turned away.
