@Laura Allard @AH 50 Can confirm. Dogs and Engineers can be trained with any Barracks, but which one *you* can train depends only on your side/country, in a similar fashion to the subfaction exclusives Demo Truck, Tesla Tank, etc. Except for Yuri's faction, since he doesn't have a dedicated dog; he can only get dogs if gets Allied and/or Soviet Barracks.
Soviet mission 9 and 10 are by far my childhood fav missions. One time I am so excited in mission 9 as I got the elite IFV, making me go ham into the fort killing everyone and also the president by accident, because back then I didn’t discover that elite IFV have a large damage radius until that mission and in mission 10 I usually camp my Kirovs by the side of the hill where the enemy keep coming and force attacking there. And listen to all those units die sounds both funny and satisfying.
Damn, did i liked this mission, i never actually bothered with the airport or hospital, i got the ivan and started blasting everything out after the power was out (spy) and the infantry gone (sniper). Thanks for the vid. Please keep these up, you are amazing!
Quckest way to finish the mission is to send IFV to south wall, break it, send in a Yuri. His reach is just enough to capture president and not get into seal range. Once you capture him, mission ends immediately. You have to be careful though, if you come too close to president, he'll get into the car and leave.
You can rush to mind control the president. You can use airport to drop conscripts to overwhelm the base. You can use sniper to slowly take out prism tower one after another. Imagine what you can do in this mission
Gotta say the most stressful moment is when trying to use sniper to kill those seals. One misstep and sniper got killed. Or IFV if you end up venturing out too far. Hard mode par time is short too so one don’t have much time to hesitate and think about which action to take. I do agree though that this mission could’ve been a whole lot more fun if developed a bit more extensively.
Snipers have longer range than seals. If you need to know how far a unit can hit, you can use the cursor to your advantage. If the enemy is out of range, a red and green attack cursor appears. If the enemy is in-range, a fully red cursor appears.
4:26 Sniper aiming towards one of the 2 attack dogs : *He's a dead man* me: Wow, didn't expected that one of those dogs *aren't* a real dog.. understandable.. 😂
5:58: "The Alamo is partially occupied. I repeat, the Alamo is partially occupied. Proceeding to clear the surrounding area of Allied Resistance and those darn Secret Service Agents." "Capture some of them Agents, though. I want to know more about this Nod organization."
7:29: This would have said: Aftermath Ranking: Podpolkovnik (Lieutenant Colonel) On par time or before - "World leaders tremble in fear at the mention of our psychic troops. With you in command, no one is safe." Beyond par time - "The President is ours to command. You will be rewarded for your zeal."
One thing I don't get is the first cutscene, Vladimir calls the man holding him at gunpoint "General" as if he is the player, however we are apparently right in front of Yuri the whole time.
Yeah I've thought of that too. Could he be an other general? Or Vladimir talking to the real general who's on a phone or something? I dont know it's too theatrical.
An alternative way of completing the mission without sniper: use the IFV at the beginning, break the wall near power plants, destroy powerplants and seals.
Rhe most awesome thing that you showed was the Sacrificial Conscripts scene ; You could have captured the President by the Yuri that controlled the IFV , but you deliberately sent the Sniper to the sacrificing set 🤣
This is by far my favorite mission in this game, it's really fun when you can get the Chrono Ivan. I really like to use him to destroy the prism towers, since he can move faster then they can shoot.
The very first time i played this mission, i did it the hard way. After capturing the barracks and battle lab, I used 1 yuri, approach him just enough to mind control a seal, and quickly retreat him before the prism towers kill the yuri (very small window of opportunity, might need to slow down the game a little bit). Rince and repeat a few times until the seals are all dead. Then send a spy to shut down the power (while avoiding the dogs patrol). Once power is off, send the yuris and capture the president. 🤣
Even the random cowboy civilians will attack Psicorps on sight. I guess *truly* no one likes Yuri. I had honestly forgotten that this mission exists, and every time I replay RA2 I'm surprised when it shows up in the loading screen. It is quite uneventful, but hey, you get to mind control POTUS... just imagine if that happened in real life... heh... Thankfully, if you can't be bothered with dodging Prism towers and angry cowboys all day, you can just go straight through the south-eastern wall and all you need to do is clear out a couple of enemy units. Once you mind control the president, the mission instantly ends, so that's that. You'd think they would put him somewhere safer, like that base in Alaska which we see in the final mission, but oh well.
I mean, if you want to mind control the president, just take a specialized wire strong enough to catch your brain signals and attach it to him/her. You can then just control their body. BUT they can also control your body if it's a two way connection.
Oh, so there IS another way to play this. I've always got the IFV to destroy the south wall, then destroy all power plants with it, and then all the seals. Without taking the sniper - he always managed to kill me as I approached him from the front :P not through the wall
So here's a very hilarious thing I've discovered. You can mind control AND kill the president! Step 0: Same as usual but use IFV max rank from crates on the bottom side to outrange and cut power from the base. Step 1: Clear all ally units and defense structures. Step 2: Send a spy to infiltrate Battle Lab and get Chrono Ivan. Step 3: Make Ivan plant a bomb on the president. Step 4: Use mind control on the president during the last bomb ticks. Step 5: Mission accomplished, and the president goes boom in the background!
Will you capture all Allied building in the next mission? That mission is very easy, too easy that it might be a bit more challenging to try capturing their entire base.
I can finish this mission with what they give me at the beginning. Unless of course you want messing around in this mission. How to do you ask ? Well start with rushing all of them ( 2 psicorps troopers and mind controled IFV ) at the bottom left part of the fort, blasting a hole in a wall, escort the last psicorps trooper, get him mind control. For more convenient and wasting some time the bottom survice depot area has 6 truck with crates inside might help you deal with those enemy easier with upgraded IFV
Another thing I wonder, why is the IFV in this mission only shoots one missile (that seems to be stronger than usual?) What's the design decision behind it?
I would like to ask a few questions about making this game playable. How did you make this game playable? Are you on Windows 10? When you play this game and then Alt+Tab to do something else and then Alt+Tab back will your screen stay blank regardless what you do? It's not that hard, especially as the first time it uses the weather controller, it's always the same place, even if you have sold all the buildings before you capture the allied battle lab
Not really, just prepare your defenses like flak cannons and tesla coils powered by the tesla troops, and when you capture the battle lap make sure you have a nuke ready to destroy the weather control device immediately

Best mission ever. Great video TG!
I liked these types of missions. I used to think this one seemed more difficult, apparently not after watching this lol
Basically everything becomes easy when it´s known, first time around playing this you didn´t know everything hence why it wasn´t as easy.

this mission has a trigger that all allied troops will go outside the wall start hunting your units, but I forget how to trigger it
