More lift is always helpful, but also more things to get stuff caught on them or get hit by obstructions is a trade off. Good luck on the river!🙂

Just wondering if you have any follow up on this item after some prolonged usage. I have the exact same boat and motor. I does it help with heavy loads?
Have you ran your boat with more weight in it? Ive got a 16' jon boat with an ultrex on the front, and two big batteries. Most likely would have a second person in the boat also. Wondering if a 25 hp jet like yours would push my boat? Good videos, thanks for the info!

Did you find yourself getting out of the hole faster with the Whale Tail? I've got a 25 Merc Jet 4 stroke that I might try that on if it's going to help. I'm curious how thick of material the item is made from. It might be an easy thing to make.
Maybe a little bit. It's hard to say if it helps a lot but would say it did give a little improvement. It's a fairly thick piece but if you had the metal and the right tools, I'm sure it could be done! Thanks for watching!

Hey man how did you make that a jet drive I have a 2020 Mercury 25hp efi that I would love to make jet drive
It's a factory original Mercury jet
its not a 25, its a 30 hp power head tuned up with ecm work, 25 hp at the jet, your 25 would only give you 18 hp aprox at the jet
@@Sharpesfew incorrect. I own this exact 2019 mercury 25hp jet drive from factory. I spoke directly with a mercury service technician on this subject and he stated that this engine is a 30hp block tuned down to 25hp at the shaft and does in fact only have 17.5 hp at the pump. This is the only mercury jet drive that is labeled like this. All of the other jet drives are correctly labeled as 50/35 60/40 etc…

I have questions and some comments. I come from a lifetime of outboard jet operations. Guiding Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska. 30,000 logged hours.
How much does the Lowe 1648 weigh, bare hull. When you attempt to get on plane are you doing so going from idle to wide open throttle?? I thought I got the impression that you gradually applied throttle. For test purposes that would be a mistake. Start at dead idle, hopefully enuf current so you have no forward motion and crack it wide open.
Do you feel any lift at running speed.
Next, try slowing very gradually from WOT and see how slow you can go before falling off plane. These things will indicate the true performance of the product. That’s assuming you have done these tests without the product mounted first.

Since the whale tale was installed, water conditions on our local rivers have been mediocre, at best. We've had very limited ability to really put it to the test. We've found that it hops on plane a little faster and it definitely holds plane better at slower speeds. We've had it loaded with 2 grown men plus fishing gear and live bait down to a single man with pretty bare boat. The results have remained pretty well the same, respectively. Quicker to plane with a better hold on plane. With that being said, the differences were noticeable but not quite as much as we were expecting. We'll be able to better tell once we have better depth or find a nearby lake that will allow us to really get at it.

PLEASE, PLEASE PUUUUUHHHLLEEEEEEEZZZZZEEEE. Every F'n review of this accessory which was designed to make a HEAVILY LOADED boat faster shows 1 person with an empty FRIGGIN boat. Put 3 people in the boat. Test it without. Then test it with. I'm trying to find an actual review but the reviewers don't have a clue what this is for.
