I did a dual exhaust on my G37. From the cats the piping was 2.5” to a “resonated x-pipe”. Dual 2.5” piping all the way back to 2 4”x9” mufflers with the stock tips. It sounded almost stock at idle, heavy throttle activated beast mode with no rasp.
helmholtz resonators at the downpipe end, and possibly another two 16" resonator cans on the mid-section of the exhaust system to kill off the rasp+drone
I have a Ecutek tuned 2019 Infiniti Q50 3.0t here in U.S. in Texas. 93 fuel, AMS airbox kit, heat exchanger upgrade, Magnaflow 2.5 dual pipe cbe x-pipe but elected to keep my factory downpipes. I dyno around 445 to 450 rwhp. I also have installed the rear subframe bushing collars plus I have a somewhat good differential brace. I run my car on the street/bare concrete. Traction as you know with this motor's little, fast spooling turbos and only rwd is a joke. Even with my soft Toyo R888R 285 width, 100 treadwear rear tires. With Ecutek launch control, which is nothing related to helping put power down (as when i got tuned mid 2020). For thise unfamiliar, LC allows more boost to be built up with no rpm cut but mostly allows more tire smoke/spin hence no "control". But does provide me my best 0-60 mph and 60foot . Here in the U.S.A, my 3.0t is nothing special. People here have plenty of 500whp to 650whp infiniti/nissan V6 3.0t cars. If I could justify buying new 17" diameter wheels (I run 19" wheels) and 275-285 Micky Thompson E.T. Street R drag radial, proper tires, maybe get it down to low 3.7 sec 0-60 mph and 1.67- 1.72 60 foot on the casual street with no roll out. Everyone is doing drag stuff with this car. Let's see what incremental suspension upgrades can do on a road course. Modification I want to see, the difference between a full air to air vs air to water intercooler
Your car can hook 800whp on the street with the correct mods with not too much trouble. Up above 800whp is becomes a challenge. On the drag strip, 17in welds and 305/45/17 slicks work well. They will fit right over the rear sport brakes with no problem.
I can hardly believe it makes that power and went a 12.5 in the quarter mile with exhaust that restrictive! That’s nuts. A proper exhaust will do that thing wonders!
We work with Shockworks. They build it to suit us, not generic off the shelf. We have no offical association with HKS, so would have to buy them at full price. Video wouldn’t get enough views to pay for the coilovers, let alone the labour, filming and editing.
Great video Andrew. Thank you I think you may have already answered the questions as for what power mod is worth doing for the future general owner of a 400Z that will in 99% cases never drag race it. Leave all the hardware alone. Only have the ECU tuned.
To do a burnout in the 370z at the dragstrip and turn off VDC completely I would remove the Stop Lamp Fuse. Maybe the new Z is the same? I am very interested in finding out.
Would a line locker freak out the ABS/traction control? Because it would work mechanically, but I'd expect a whole bunch of "DANGER TO MANIFOLD" happening in the ECU because the front wheels are stationary and rears are going rather fast
The exhaust style is more like 350z and r35. Dual single to dual. Which sounds so much better to me. Than the stock style dual exhaust that others have done.
The R35 has the same issue with brake and throttle, don’t know if it will work on the 400Z but I installed a manual switch on the brake pedal switch so I can turn off the brake pedal sensing. This allows me to brake boost in the GTR, maybe the same will work in 400Z?
Worth giving it a shot, if u give the car throttle whilst on the brake, and dumping the clutch, will it continue spinning? I know Toyotas (modern) if you try and do a rolling skid, it cuts the throttle, but if you do a standstill and you can keep it spinning without issue, vehicle will allow it.
