1st Police encounter video from 2017 when I started my channel. Although many police forces have learnt that public photography is not a crime over the years since auditing started here in the UK, they are still the gift that keep on giving due to their EGO power tripping nature.

Listen to junior ... "targetting this area" ... trying to create a case of criminality out of fresh air. He might only be 12 years old but he has already learned the language and tactics of being a tyrant pig. Going by the current criminal state of Plod forces nowadays, he is probably well on his way to being overweight, under-worked and impressing everyone with his collection of 'special' photos taken on the job.

I remember this from when I started watching these types of videos. Brainwashed at the training college that ID is a must. The laws are second to learn, that is if they train them in laws. Trained on PACE numbers but not what each section fully states. Most sections of PACE do not require your details so asking for them is what he wants, not what the law states. This cop, I highly doubt he has learnt anything from this encounter almost 7 years later.

I just wonder the cops thinking that he states by giving your details will stop other cops from harassing you, as they will still need to cross reference your details to know it's you. Or will your name and face flash up on screen as they wizz by.

This is the very reason I had the police called on me in 2012... trying to do a panning shot for a camera club comp. Some plonker pulled in claiming it was illegal to take photos of cars. Even after explaining what I was doing and that it was allowed, which I didn't have to, he called the police. I wish I knew then what I know now, as they got my details when they asked and checked out my car. Might take a walk and have another go at it tomorrow... 🙂

Clearly officers are unaware of (or are deliberately overlooking) the stated case of Rice v Connolly 1966. It pays to understand the law before you try to uphold it.
Most choose to ignore the law and rely on twisting PACE instead. But if you want to become a chef then you would learn how to cook first !

I would hope this young officer has moved on and learned a good lesson from this. Data Harvesting is not a mandatory requirement for the police. It might be for the Home Office, but not the MPS.
They are also clearly taught to add "quickly" or "real quick" to the request to make it sound like it's not a big deal. You see this on every single American interaction.

Thanks for your comment. I've never really classed myself as an 'auditor' but do have many police interaction which are all mostly like this one. I have a playlist of my personal interactions if interested.

They really need to change the police recruitment from 14 years of age to……..No, seriously though, it really should be 25 years old or even 30. I really don’t think people below that age, with no life experience, are up to the great responsibility of having the powers that police have over members of the public. At one time, many police had joined after being in the armed services. It’s a very different type of person in policing today and sadly, the ones who had the important knowledge to pass on have been forced out by early retirement during the culls by the Tories. It will take decades, if ever at all to regain the core of knowledge that was held by those stalwarts of policing, to be passed on to the yearly intake of new recruits.☹️😫😩
