Good video overall man. But.... BEARING RACES.... if it's a emegency fix on the tracks sure reuse but when doing it as routine maintenance ALWAYS REPLACE BEARING RACE with the new ones that come with the bearing. Ps whoever has worked on those handbrake shoes has put the bottom spring in wrong location, it's supposed to be BEHIND the adjuster star wheel. Cheers
With the cone washers, unscrew the nuts leave them on the thread screw in both your 1.25 bolts enough so it creates a gap where the gasket is then screw 2 of the nuts back in itll bring the other 4 cones out enough to be free or free enough you can wiggle it with a screw driver do the same for the remaining 2 cone washers. Easiest way and works every time i got a rubber mallet for those cones and found it really hit or miss, this way always works.
Awesome episode Buddy. While I am not very mechanically inclined I find your content very interesting and always informative. You provide very clear and concise directions which makes it understandable for the novice. Nice way to enjoy my Sunday coffee.
Haha my bad! I just took 2 of the nuts thread them both in one stud then tighten them against each other! After that you should be able to remove the stud+nuts as if it were a bolt. Just be careful because they can be stuck in the hub. It’s worth heating up the stud first before you try and back it off!
Hey there! Just Finished R&R my Tacoma Driveshaft to Replace U Joints and Carrier Bearing. Your Video (A while Back) was a Big Help ! Wanted to Say Thanks
Hey John, great video as always! I replaced the sending unit for the fuel pump, and the gauge is still reading wrong. Is it a ground issue that could be causing this still. If so, where would I look. 07 tacoma 4.0
just use a piece of wood from the outer hub section to knock the inner bearing & seal out in one go. In most cases the seal can be reused if in an emergency and the wood wont harm the bearing
Hey man! Not quite sure what you mean? I try to gear these videos towards people wanting to learn how to tackle this stuff on their own! The details can be a little much at times, but for someone wanting to learn it’s great!
@@Adv4x4 Hahaha I have no idea what I wrote! First: I like that you show us how to get the maintenance done on the driveway. Second: please keep filming all the maintenance, would be great to get a series of videos of it. Third: I like the detailed videos!
How did the studs ''pull out'' 3.20 - i thought they'd be threaded in and you said you'd already loosened the nuts at the start of the video - You also said 2 of the studs broke - how did you get the remaining parts out ? Thanks

This video is one of the best. Love it. Keep it up.👍🏾
Thank you. Once I get more time I can't wait to do this

Appreciate it Mike! Hopefully it’s a very informative video for people looking to do the same repairs.
@@Adv4x4 It does inspire/ motivate me to take on more challenging repairs and service work on my truck.
The one part I was waiting to see was the stud removal and replacement and you sped it up! 😂

This saved me, thanks man. 🙏🏽
Excellent video, very helpful, yes indeed, I will need to do this as well sometime soon. Thank you for posting!
So glad it was helpful!
Good job. I just finished the same. Let's do the front axle of the car. With the axle hub
A very informative and helpful video. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Helped me with mine on the old 75 series. Most things are the same but no abs ring for me 😅 thank you!
Glad it could help man!

this is helpful thank you. Do the part numbers change if I have factory rear locker?

Would be great to get the baselining on a couple of videos, is nice the driveway maintenance for the ones that want to tackle some of it on their own.

Haha copy! Do plan to show more as I keep building this thing! Next video will be on steering link replacement as well as radius arm install!
Next time for the bearing seal use a brass punch from the inside through. Hit the wheel bearing and the seal comes with it. Cheers!
Great idea!
Bearings need both races swapping - if you dont swap the outer races you will be back in there with new bearings quicker than you think...
Great video! Could you tell, what the purpose of those two juts on the axle shaft flange?
thank you very much.

Hey man how did you get the new axle studs in?
great video
Thanks!
that inner hub seals its aftermarket seal?. its looking more like the front inner hub seal.
Yes aftermarket seal I questioned it at first too but seemed all the same once I looked closer.
