I admire any drummer who has the courage to get up and attempt a Neil Peart drum part. It's pointless to say "he's not at good as the Professor" because no-one is, or ever will be. But Grohl did a great job and it is sublime to see Alex and Geddy playing.

Geddy was working as a volunteer at the publisher's printing office who was going to be printing his book. He said it was 5 days a week, 8 hours per day just like any normal job. He wanted to learn the process in which books are printed and distributed to sellers in order to help him get that much closer to what it means to be an author by seeing first-hand what goes on behind the scenes with the people who produce the final product
That's such a RUSH thing and a Neil thing to do, too. I know Neil worked at both dw and at Sabian forging and hammering cymbals for the very same reason. There's a Sabian video where Neil is seen dressed like an ancient Chinese metallurgist forging, hammering, and then testing each cymbal

As a 16 yr old I was subsequently drawing pictures of them in my schoolbook for months...lol... I actually went on later to design double & triple neck guitars for myself made by luthier Hugh Manson in the 1980s & 90s being a player myself so possibly Geddy & Alex inspired me...lol.....With Neil, I just couldn't get over how a drummer could create such a beautiful variety of percussive sounds, timings & segues & be able to energy sustain it with his speed, energy & power for like 2 HOURS !.....I remember his Drum solo at that gig being even more thunderous than the one on 'All the World's a Stage' recorded some 3 years earlier. Put this in perspective. This tribute was just for one man. Just one drummer. One drummer out of a million of bands. It shows the love and connection we have to music. And when one person goes, we all feel it. We all gather in the heartache when a life is lost. I still cry over Chris Cornell. Elvis. Chester. Kurt. Layne. And the list goes on. This was beautiful, but I’ll never get over it. Until then, Rest In Peace Taylor, and may you find comfort where you’re at. #everlong

in all my years, as a devoted RUSH fan & playing drums myself for going on 50 years (casually) I commented on the RUSH induction to the R-n-R Hall of Fame that Dave and Tayor were the most fitting musicians to induct my Music heros. I've also said numerous times, In my mind, if they ever did a tribute to Neil (The Professor) that there are really on 4 maybe 5 drummers worth of that gig. Dave and Taylor, both are on that list. Along with Chad Smith (RH Chilli Peppers) Danny Carey (Tool) are automatically on the list because they reveared Neil's Gift to Music and Drumming as a craft. The morning I read of Taylor's death, much like Jan 7, 2020 when Neil passed, I took the day off and did nothing but play recordings that I myself have tried to master the respective drummers, and balled my eyes out. We are truly blessed with these Masters and this tribute to Tayolr is another great example of how the Rock family, at its core, looks after each other. RIP Taylor, RIP Professor, you both are deeply missed. ~R.

    Some important points:
    - the Rush song with lyrics they played was original recorded not by Peart on drums (John Rutsey was the drummer of Rush, in Working Man).
    - Peart (on Rush), Ghrol (on Nirvana) and Taylor (on FF) didn't recorded the debut album (only) of these bands.
    - The other 2 songs in this show (2112 Overture and YYZ) are instrumental, original with Peart.
    - Taylor already played 2112 Overture, with Ghrol on guitar, at RnRoF Rush inducted.
    - It's Dave Ghrol, Nirvana drummer, playing with Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee! C'mon, close your eyes and take a listen: it's f... awesome! It's not for a "cool reason", we know, but they are doing a honoring job, in memory of Taylor and Peart - and for music, rock, and everything important

It's an absolute disgrace. While I have never personally been a Foo Fighters fan, having felt that they are over-rated, I will say that I M O, while talented and charismatic, Hawkins didn't have even half the cultural impact on the rock/music industry as Edward Van Halen.

So apparently, the entire show was 6 hours long. They just showed 45 minutes of it tonight on Channel 5- UK. So why isn't the full show available on UA-cam? I suppose their waiting to put the whole event on multiple dvds before Christmas

They had their fans over there and always did well playing the big arenas. In the 70’s and especially 80’s, they had quite the devoted following with top 10 albums and their live album and DVD A Show of Hands was shot and recorded in Birmingham England. Those fans knew what to do during 2112. The problem was they never wanted to go over there to tour, especially as they got older and wanted to be with their families, and were quite content just doing America. The books Rush in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s by Martin Popoff detail a lot of this.

While this is bad ass. I don’t remember seeing a tribute concert for Neal Peart. And that pisses me off. Neal died having a massive brain tumor. Taylor died of a massive drug overdose. So yeah….pretty jacked up if you ask me

For me …… only one Professor .
Dave I good and did a hard job of keeping up …..As fast as it looked he was banging away with Geddy and Alex . Neil “ played the drums to the song , giving it life . Was like using a baseball bat for a fly swatter would suffice .

And yet Neil Peart gets no sold out stadium tribute to him. There should have been a festival in his name who's celebration of his life last longer than the Queen's ceremony.
