A student made a phone call and called his parents said that don’t ever let my little sister ever go on a field trip because she can end up like this situation.🕊🕊
They Obeyed the announcement because they were just student and they were in a semi-formal trip. What had been told to them by senior they considered as an order and discipline. The captain not only wrongly ordered passenger to stay put, he didn't release the life boats either.. He's sick or stupid.
People need to read more into the person who owned the ship, the President at the time, the person who was manipulating her during her presidency. All of them were in cults. Everyone just seems to blame the captain, without actually reading about the people who controlled them. The captain and crew were puppets. The Sewol was a sacrifice. There is literally no logical explanation for them not being able to save them. When there were plenty of lifeboats, the response to the scene was very lazy, and their government denied help from Japan/USA. It kinda amazes me more people aren't talking about these people and trying to connect the dots. The owner of the ferry, was a guy named Yoo Byung-eun. He was the leader of the Salvation Sect, which is a cult. He has a very dark history. He used his followers to gain power/money. He was also responsible for the mass suicide, most likely mass murder, in the late 80's of his cult members. Called the Odaeyang mass suicide. He was public enemy number one after the Sewol incident. His body turned up only a month after the Sewol sank. The President at the time was Park Geun-hye, whose Presidency was largely manipulated by her friend's spiritual hold over her. Named Choi Soon-sil. Choi manipulated everything from national/international policy and even editing her speeches. They were together for 7-hours while the Sewol was sinking, not taking any real action. Choi Soon-sil was the daughter of Choi Tae-min. Choi Tae-min was the founder of another cult called the Eternal Life Church. Park's mother was assassinated and after that Choi Tae-min came to Park saying that her mother appeared to him in his dreams telling him to help/protect her. He was the Korean Rasputin. And as told through WikiLeaks, the American embassy in Seoul reported a rumor that he had complete control over Park's body and soul in her formative years. He was also close to Park Chung-hee, who is Park Geun-hye's father and was a former President also. The assassination attempt on him ended up killing her mother and then was later carried out by the director of the KCIA Kim Jae-gyu. He told the court that his intentions to kill him was because Park Chung-hee failed to stop Choi Tae-min's corruption and keep him away from his daughter. All of their histories and relationship go back decades. You can read all about it online. I know it sounds crazy, but the Sewol was a sacrifice made to their respective cults. Park Geun-hye even said on national tv it was "a noble sacrifice". Choi Soon-sil even apologized saying she had sinned and she deserved nothing less than death. There is literally no logical reason why they couldn't save them. They had plenty of time and had people asking them if they could help, including Japan/USA navies. Park and Choi Soon-sil are now in prison for 20+ years each. People should really read about them, instead of just blaming the captain without knowing the larger implications behind it. You'll find that they were only puppets to a much more sick thing going on behind what you see at face value. These people were pulling the strings and never really meant to save them. As they said, in South Korea they put an emphasis on following directions of their superiors. Just as the kids listened to stay put...the captain and crew told them to stay put and abandoned ship to save themselves under the direction of their leaders. I wish people would wake up and try to understand this. It's not that simple. It's way more darker than you can imagine.
I feel sick after reading some of the comments on articles and videos about this tragedy. Almost 500 people were on the ferry and most of them were high school students like myself. Most of these students are still missing and presumed to be dead. They won't get to graduate, go to college, get a job, fall in love, get married, have kids, see their grandchildren, etc. They had so much life ahead of them.. It's heartbreaking..
@@vee-un4gb bruh , because of the fcking coward captain a lot of students died . Wtf ? Just kill the fcking captain . Saying sorry is not enough for parents that lost they're kids
Ñïghť Bãńďįť I think you misunderstood me. I’d rather have him be in prison for the rest of his life, and have the other prisoners beat him up everyday. Cause the death sentence is the easy way out for him. He deserves to suffer.
the captain was sentenced to life imprisionement from what I've heard luckily this accident / murder / sacrifice didn't happen in my country because here we don't have life imprisionement, no one can stay in jail for more than 30 years and very few actually spend that much time even the worst criminals
I feel disgusted about some commenters here bringing political, historical and racial issues in a event like this. If a dramatic event happened to you, I'm pretty sure that you guys would be the ones begging for help. Keep your generalization crap elsewhere.
Iam a South Korean. Please .. pray for our kids. They are still waiting for the rescue in the boat full of water.. iam so sad... my kids, dont give up.. The captain didnt claim that passengers should get out of the cruise. He jusy took the boat and got rescued. Speechless... so horrible.
I sent you a PM my friend - I AM praying for your children... I am SO SO SO sorry for what has happened. I love you and those little ones. I pray for them, there will be a miracle. Please see my PM. =)
911ambulancegirl thank you for your attention. All of us in South Korea stop doing our things , cancelled many events and pay attention to rescue of them.

@@suzyziette9327 the captain said it's more dangerous if you move and instead they should stay put. He's supposed to be the most knowledgable on the ship and the students trusted his word. It's not their fault he lied. why are u so mad chill tf out
@@suzyziette9327 All cultures weren't perfect fyi and might be a problem to someone like you since yours was different from theirs. It's ignorance to even care to blame the victims when all they did was trusting the damn captain and crews. So don't even blame the entirety of Korean culture here bc of what happened. I mean... you ain't a perfectly smart ass human being that ever exist yourself. It's not about being all smart and right, they tried enough actually, but unfortunately the freakin' ship tilted and had to sink too fast. It's too late to even find exits cuz they were TRAPPED due to its tilting in degrees which made them unable to escape fast enough. Like, who knows smth like that would happen in a short time? AND they were told to be rescued asap, but didn't. Some crappy sh*t going on with their gov. during those times, were shady, suspicious and all. Culture cannot really control everything of a person esp. when your life is on the line and when you'd about to die. You couldn't even think about anything at all but to save yourself and others. That's the most underrated fact and everyone has that common sense, not just you. Have you even watched a vid of what actually happened inside of that ship? People there had to grip tight, they could fall and injured themselves badly that's why they weren't moving much plus the announcements made such as "stay put bc it's too dangerous. etc." And that's how they had to wait for help that never came. Just bc you saw the results, you could've make the same choice when you're them before knowing it. Bec. at times of any tragedy like that, it'll never easy. We people often likes to brag with things that should be done, but when the time you're at it. You'd be lost yourself and traumatized. Same with earthquakes, not everyone can apply things that has to be done, due to panic attacks, loss of focus/mental blocks, traumatized, fears, etc. Most of them were calm and remain positive with the situation which was amazing, bc it's rare for young people to have such self-control in risky times. I bet if you're at that age and that young, no matter how smart you thought you are, you'd prbly end up losing your own pace and unable to make instant actions. It's easier to be said but not done for people like you who just received the news. There's no space for you to rudely evaluate the situation and to act like you know everything. That's low. Not bc they're from other nation, doesn't mean they're at fault. You may think we're all totally different, right from what you see... but the world revolves around us the same. Treat people as people not bc they're different from you and you think yours is right. But simply because we all brought here to breath and live our lives. Just respect. Nobody even slightly deserve and need your ego.
@@suzyziette9327 "The stupidity has no barrier" exactly right. Just like how your stupidity is showing itself. How many times do you have to be said that those victims DO think ahead, anyone in that situation would definitely have instincts of their possible worst scenarios and somehow predict things. Most has that common sense. But unfortunately they didn't make it at the right time due to such manipulative order that distracts them. They trusted the authority of the ship like how passengers would trust a pilot. And hey, don't even try to brought up suicide issues here. It happens anywhere, everywhere. Stating personal criticisms and bringing up other issues within Korea simply proves that you have some serious problem regarding the country. Deal with your own brain, human. Your audacity is devouring your sensitivity. Seems like you're trying so hard to show off how smart you think you gonna be if you were one of the victims. This isn't some competition, simply know that what you're judging at is under sensitive topic. If you're really smart, then prove some manners and respect those victims instead of judging their mistakes. Being only smart can't make you a decent human being.
In Canada, when we hear a ship is sinking, you abandoned ship. The captain tells everyone to get to the life boats. The captain here wasn't trained and because of him, many people died. 💔🇰🇷
The widespeaker actually said the rescue team is coming in a moment, so they'll be safe. Students trusted that announcement and waited till the rescue team arrive They didn't know the team would come after their death...
If one day I have kids, I'll tell them to disobey any order coming from a superior if they know in their hearts that they should disobey. I'll teach them to be able to make decisions and think for themselves at a young age so they won't just follow orders without contesting. This is extremely sad.
Absolutely! Though of course first and foremost the children should be taught knowledge they can rely on too, so they can trust themselves with reason and not have blind confidence in their self-judgement either. If any of us were a kid stuck in that crisis, taught to be very obedient and possibly not having been well taught what to do in that situation... we would also most likely listen to the authority figure who we are aware is supposed to be MUCH more knowledgeable than us. The one everyone tells us to trust and who we believe knows better. Also, for anyone reading this... Imagine if, hypothetically, you were to lose your child like that. Then if you were to go online and see some random John/Jane from across the world imply that it's the kid's fault for listening to orders and that "I could never"... I'm sorry if I'm rude but please let's not say or imply it's the fault of literal children when they were simply victims...
@@minyoonjissisteryouknow1614 Yes, because no one would have expected them to be given orders that aren't just plain wrong, but that literally kill all of them. I am sure they don't just listen to authority figures in South Korea for no reason. Usually the orders probably make sense and are to their benefits, being given by experienced, well-meaning superiors. But that time... These bastards told them to do something that would end their lives. Nobody could have expected that. It is extremely twisted and all in all just horrible. I hope it was worth the fucking savings for the company when they decided to operate an unsafe ship with an untrained crew that ended up acting like THAT. Extreme greed isn't just a funny quirk, it can murder 250 children.
My condolences and thoughts and prayers go out to the grieving families. I feel heartache for the many victims who died on the ferry. I wish that never happened to them. It's tragic.
This is disgusting! I know this was years ago but should never be forgotten. “Please escape the ferry with your life jacket” These simple words would of been given but do to the fact he has poor knowledge and saved himself and called a criminal, on the other hand he could of been a hero by not saving himself and let those students die but save those 300+ students and die as a hero!
Dont ever dare blaming these children for being obedient, or what hero you would have been!!! The Captain of the ship is ALWAYS responsible for every passengers life, or death. PERIOD!!! Off with his head.
Yes, those comments are awful! It was NOT their fault. If we were kids who were raised and had lived as the victims, we would most likely have done the same. Plus, obedience and trusting and listening to people who (are supposed to be) more knowledgeable than you is not a bad thing. Normally, it's what you SHOULD do in a crisis, everyone is always told that even in cinemas, it's what you know first and foremost. Whether ill-intentioned or not, it is definitely the Captain's fault. May the victims rest in peace.
This has nothing to do with Korean culture. If someone knowledgeable on this particular field, esp when the person is the captain of the ship, gives bold instructions more than 6 times in a span of 10 mins to stay put, who would they trust? Of course the captain. So, please do not blame Korean culture for what had happened. The blame should mostly be on the captain...
Gina They're not blaming korean cultures... Jesus. How about you learn not to jump to conclusions? They are giving reasons as to why the students still stay even though the boat was filling with water. They still stayed put. Anyone who doesn't follow the culture would have not stayed put once the saw the water which indicated danger.
How irresponsible are the people.. Leaving those children. They are not concerned about others suffering, how much hurting to watch this. God just did this to show their attitudes and open their eyes towards each living being on earth has the right to survive.. May they rest in peace
damn. 8yrs later and this still so heartbreaking. the fact that a girl from a short clip said something that was so right… she said “what if this the part in the movies when the announcement says not to move but the students get out anyway?” (it was something like this.) its terrible to know that she was right.
The captain ordered everyone to not move and stay still... then Jumped off to save himself leaving all the innocent students sinking inside the ship.. this bad, and sad.. RIP to all those who perished..
I don't see why all members who seem to be of authority tell people to STAY WHERE THEY ARE??? This happened with Sewol, Grenfell Tower, EVEN 9/11. All these unnecessary deaths could've been prevented if they were told to, for example, "evacuate to nearest emergency point" or "meet at top deck by allocated lifeboats" this would've been a much more practical approach than stay where you are. This is ridiculous
Juliet Azcarate exactly lesson is keep survival in your own hands. Trust no one but yourself, your idiotic if you think anyone but your own instinct is going to save you
Captain: "Stay Where you are don't move" Meanwhile: Also the captain: *escaped the ferry from fear of getting drowed, and left the innocent students without them knowin' it*
So sad💔i still remember this accident in 2014, i was just 16 and now i’m 23, if victims were survived, they would be at the same age of me. I just can say RIP 🙏🏻🤍And i hope the truth shows up very soon.
A captain saying sorry after telling teenage students that they should *not* evacuate a sinking ship is disgusting. There were enough lifeboats to save every single one of them.
I can't even imagine the pain for the parents and the fear and sadness of the students. All those students and their loved ones were not with them to comfort or guide them. Still hoping for a miracle.

It's not only the norm of listening to elders, quite often (in western countries as well) in developed countries, we are often told to listen to the emergency authorities, rescue workers and vessel crew members when accidents happen like this. We are told to trust and follow the protocols and guidelines given by the crew. And that's why this is more sinister.
Absolutely. This reminds me of the Grenfell Tower fire in London back in 2017. These people were told by firefighters to stay in their apartments under a so called 'stay put policy'. The ones who escaped survived the fire. In the end 71 people died and just as many injured.
@@clockwork365 yes, tho I think the worst part about Grenfell was that the construction company (a tory doner and other ties with the tory gov) deliberately used a cheaper, highly flammable cladding to save a total of mere £5000. The "stay put policy" is the correct protocol and works when appropriate claddings have been used. Also, the fire department had been systematically defunded under years of tory austerity cuts. The fire department was extremely short-staffed and lacked proper equipment as well. None of the companies and the council members who approved the unsafe cladding have faced any charges.
@@Heedy770 Wow so the cladding wasn't fire resistant but actually a fire accelerant? This is truly disgraceful by the developer. Cost cutting pretty much killed these tenants. The fact that the council and the construction company faced no legal consequences is just stunning.

They were in high school you fucking dumbass they thought that the captain and crew were going fix it. It's disgusting that your victem blaming them when 307 of them are dead. You talk about common sense yet it doesn't really seem like you have it
Sad ... But it's not the culture and the ladies here are showing their ignorance about human nature. The way kids acted the western way as they followed order. Then, when disaster like this happens, all of sudden this campaign for orderliness suddenly become Korean culture? Passengers simply didn't know what to do so they followed the order.

@Aged Fine Meme executing the captain is too peaceful, I'd rather let him rot in prison.
Radyza G id rather have him be beaten up by other prisoners every week
@@vee-un4gb bruh , because of the fcking coward captain a lot of students died . Wtf ? Just kill the fcking captain . Saying sorry is not enough for parents that lost they're kids
Ñïghť Bãńďįť I think you misunderstood me. I’d rather have him be in prison for the rest of his life, and have the other prisoners beat him up everyday. Cause the death sentence is the easy way out for him. He deserves to suffer.
the captain was sentenced to life imprisionement from what I've heard
luckily this accident / murder / sacrifice didn't happen in my country because here we don't have life imprisionement, no one can stay in jail for more than 30 years and very few actually spend that much time even the worst criminals
I feel disgusted about some commenters here bringing political, historical and racial issues in a event like this. If a dramatic event happened to you, I'm pretty sure that you guys would be the ones begging for help. Keep your generalization crap elsewhere.
It's tough to deal with the truth, but you will find a way.

Because of this, the communists overturned the South Korea. Bastard communists. Have to kill all of them. North Korean spies.
Well, koreans really obey their superiors and seniors thats why many stayed inside becausr the captain said
the students had so much hope and trust to the crews, it breaks my heart
So sad they would've lived otherwise, horrible accident still worth remembering❤
did one of the passengers say “isn’t this the kind of moment where elders will say to stay out and save themselves?” because she was completely right.
Yep! She said that something happened with a subway where people got told to stay put while the “superior” people escape :/

The captain killed them. So sad.
It's been 10 years since this incident happened but we still haven't recovered from it🥺💔
And BTS made a song for them "Spring day"❤
In Canada, when we hear a ship is sinking, you abandoned ship. The captain tells everyone to get to the life boats. The captain here wasn't trained and because of him, many people died. 💔🇰🇷
he was trained. he just didnt care enough to do what had to be done for unknown reasons.
The widespeaker actually said the rescue team is coming in a moment, so they'll be safe.
Students trusted that announcement and waited till the rescue team arrive
They didn't know the team would come after their death...
If one day I have kids, I'll tell them to disobey any order coming from a superior if they know in their hearts that they should disobey. I'll teach them to be able to make decisions and think for themselves at a young age so they won't just follow orders without contesting. This is extremely sad.
I agree, those kids saw the boat literally tilting and they stayed put because of stupid orders, I could never
You would make a wonderful father
Even there parents said to follow the instructions But after they regretted alot
Also, I think he might also have survived that.
@레드방갈로 enlighten those morons, girl. Preach! I just wanna slap their faces for their stupidity.
How irresponsible are the people.. Leaving those children. They are not concerned about others suffering, how much hurting to watch this. God just did this to show their attitudes and open their eyes towards each living being on earth has the right to survive.. May they rest in peace
They didn’t blame the culture, though?
Captain who was part of Salvation sect had left the boat. Some lady kept saying stay.
damn. 8yrs later and this still so heartbreaking.
the fact that a girl from a short clip said something that was so right… she said “what if this the part in the movies when the announcement says not to move but the students get out anyway?” (it was something like this.) its terrible to know that she was right.
This breaks my heart. These kids, rest in peace. To the family and survivors, you got my condolences.
The captain ordered everyone to not move and stay still... then Jumped off to save himself leaving all the innocent students sinking inside the ship.. this bad, and sad.. RIP to all those who perished..
Also the principal got out first and his wallet was wet so he got his money out and he was drying it. Like they are selfish
This is so horrible. 9 years later still makes me sick. May those students rest in peace 🙏
Its so heart breaking, they are just so innocent students, my heart goes to them and their family.. May god bless them all.
Trust no one but yourself, your idiotic if you think anyone but your own instinct is going to save you
During 9/11 i can imagine boss telling their employees they cant leave and keep working.

The fact that the council and the construction company faced no legal consequences is just stunning.

water is gushing in, but hey let me stay on the boat, jesus christ man, no matter how obedient you are, use some common sense
smonyboy Water wasn't gushing in yet, it was a minor tilt so the kids did not worry too much, after it tilted enough the water gushes in so fast you wouldn't have been able to even walk...even if you could walk, imagine the stampede and chaos.
They were in high school you fucking dumbass they thought that the captain and crew were going fix it. It's disgusting that your victem blaming them when 307 of them are dead. You talk about common sense yet it doesn't really seem like you have it
This is so sad they told everyone to stay inside. Never wait to be rescued. No one will care more for your well being than you will.
And Seoul metro did a rear-end collision and derailment just yesterday as well, and more than 200 were injured.
Reporter is dramatizing about the culture.
Sad ... But it's not the culture and the ladies here are showing their ignorance about human nature. The way kids acted the western way as they followed order. "Don't panic" "Follow the directions from official orderly way" "How orderly we Westerners are" were taught by American media explicitly and implicitly. Then, when disaster like this happens, all of sudden this campaign for orderliness suddenly become Korean culture? Passengers simply didn't know what to do so they followed the order.
That man should never see the light of day again. Those kids were possibly the lights of their parents lives. It’s only fair.
8years ago and im still so sad and crying seeing this😭
If i were the students, I will do anything just to save our lives, I don't care If I disobey all the superiors inside that ship, it's not all about the obedience for crying out loud, it's the life we are talking about.
