Turning now to the ongoing investigation of the remains of the tragic Sewol ferry… The cargo bay and cabins were disclosed to the public two weeks after the hull of Sewol ferry was set straight up. An inspection committee plans to resume the search for the missing and investigate the cause of accident after completing safety reinforcements. Here's a glimpse inside the vessel.

The Sewol ferry's severely corroded portside stands exposed. When KBS reporters stepped inside the cargo bay on the second floor, they were overwhelmed with the stink of gasoline and mud. A climb up the stairs covered by barnacles leads into the kitchen and the lobby where passengers spent a lot of their time. Cabins for male students are located one story up, on the fourth deck, where Park Young-in and Nam Hyeon-cheol, two still missing students, were last seen. The plywood walls put up during the renovation were gone without a trace and the bathroom is filled with mud. A broken suitcase bears witness to the harrowing day four years ago.
[Soundbite] Oh Seung-rae (Inspector, Hull Investigation Committee) : "The suitcase inside the room is stuck between the plates, so we plan to continue our search after cutting them open."
Investigators walk up to the ship's head on the third deck to find partial damage to the right anchor. The underside of the ship's head also suffered damage in various places. The hull inspection committee plans to investigate the steering equipment and ballast water level in the engine room and the steering house which are still closed due to safety reasons. Meanwhile, the search for the still missing passengers will begin in July.
I couldn't stomach walking through a ship where I know hundreds of kids died, I couldn't take it, that's to heartbreaking to be standing in the same place someone took their last breathe in.
well, people walk through towns and fields etc were thousands died. i think its harder when its something more recent then much longer ago. ive been on civil war battle fields and you know thousands died where youre standing and its another power you feel just being there.

Imagine they were all trap and shouting for help hugging their friends and saying iloveyou to each other imagine while the water came in they hve nothing to do but to stay in there place where were the captain told i just feel so sorry to myself because i complain alot about my life now i am thankful of because im still alive and i can eat 3 times a day i feel shitty and mad about the captain i can't stop crying.... 😭

it’s actually hard to find human remains in ship that sinked because the bodies were probably crushed due to the water pressure under the sea.

the floor they’re stepping on the floors the students was last seen on. the floors the students sat on, stood on, and walked on. the floors the students were sitting on in the recordings released online, but there’s something missing from the ferry. _someone_ the parents would give anything to see again. *the students, their kids.*

Everytime I watch some of the videos about the Sewol tragedy, my heart just couldn't bear it. I'm a student and I know those students just want to have fun in their excursion. Those individuals have different dreams that they wanna achieve but because of negligence they can't anymore. I pray for their souls and may them rest in peace. 💔
Me neither. This is the only incident that makes me want to cry out loud but couldn't. I wonder how their parents and family members would've felt. I'm just a random stranger.

In the footage caught from one of the victims, he said, "To the captain, you are the reason why I died." I can't stop crying whenever I watch that 20 min. video. The one who's holding the camera were saying goodbye to his family. That is so heartbreaking. The fact that they are laughing, but deep inside, they are afraid 'cause they know that they might die. I'm still mad at the captain until now. This is a crime. They lied.

How does it feel being the Coast Guards thinking they will emerge the hero because they saved a few but the truth is hundreds are still in there waiting to be rescued.

@_egas calybird there's some video where you can hear the Coast Guards communication.
They got there 30 minutes after the distress call. And they still wait, waiting for cameras and medias to film their "heroic" act.
They rescued a few, the ship sunk, job done or so they thought, they didn't confirmed the actual number of passengers.

@@chickentowel7036 they didn't know how many were on the ferry since the reason it turned is because was way passed the weight limit. Not the costal guards fault it's the captain that was saved first he could told them how many was on the ferry but he saved himself and his crew and they now facing jail time.
I just stambled this Sewol Incident last night and until now I haven't got any sleep and thinking about the feelings of students and parents of the tragedy.
I even saw their last video saying that "Don't worry we're gonna live, I'll see you then"
"If I die, who's gonna take care of my sister? Omma, appa, i love you both so much".
It was traumatizing for me, how much more for the parents.

Yes same for me. I stumbled upon this accident today and I don't think I am gonna get any sleep tonight. I fell really sorry for them. This is the fault of the authorities and the captains. The kids had the chance to escape but they couldn't so they joked around praying and trusting that they will be saved. They had dreams and a future. This is all so sad. May they all rest in peace

Watching this make me upset again....my young friend from that highschool who lost her life on this tragedy still remains as a nightmare to me.....
Her brother fall into depression and they just lost the father a year before.....and lost the precious daughter the very next year in this tragedy......
If not for her mother who strong enough to hold the family pillar, i'm not sure if her little brother can survive the depression......
Sleep well my little Yoon, i'll look after your brother so get a good rest with other angels who lost their life in this tragedy......i hope that damn captain can rot in hell and haunted by those victim'ss scream of pain....i curse you, that damn captain!!!

I don't why but i literally got goosebumps all over my body just by hearing how u lost your frnd and many families lost their child...i really do can't forget this tragic incident...the captain was such a jerk he saved his own life and forgot about the innocent souls that were suffering to get out...i saw a video where the captain was saying 'stay where u are don't move' i really felt pathetic towards the captain...so many poor souls died i pray that they rest in peace

They buried the passengers "alive" in the underwater sinkage. I don't get why they said," Abandon the rescue plan" after the ship completely capsized because it's clear they didn't have a "plan" in mind. None wanted to go on the decks of a sunken ferry and call out the passengers to jump into the cold waters or get into the fishermen boats. It wasn't even at this point an accident but manslaughter!!! And maybe because the coast guard and the captain, his crew all felt like they're only going to serve prison time that's why they didn't save the kids. The entire part of the video I was literally begging "Pls save them, save them, damnit", "Somebody just....just jump into the waters and save them(when the ship had already sunken). They could be alive". It's so painful, it just....makes one feel breathless. Like, the entire time the only thought in my mind was," What was their fault. Just because they wanted to be on a field trip to an island? Really?!??" If the announcements to stay put weren't made at that point in time, maybe they could have been saved. Really, the captain must have believed that these kids will cause more mayhem and make the ship sink faster. They're innocent kids. They listened to the announcements out there, the experienced men telling them to "stay put". And then there's like nothing. No so whatsoever attempts of help. Like these people don't deserve prison sentence, but death one. They should be executed for this crime. If they can't take the burden of such a prestigious job and think their own lives are the topmost priority, not the passengers, then they either don't need to be in-line (of this service) or should be made aware that if they were to break the protocol, be it the captain, the coast guard or any crew, then they shall get tortured and executed. I think then only these rotten people who take up such professions can be seperated out. And the kids, Rest in peace. I know, being submerged underwater, dying of hypothermia, of cold after excruciating hours of struggle, struggling to crawl your ways through the deck windows or doors to escape, being hopeful yet abandoned at the very last moment and being aware of this fact and watching your friends/family/colleagues die one by one and you yourself trying to make desperate attempts to contact the outside world must have been the most painful hours of your life and there must be some resentment too but just remember your parents and friends will be able to bring justice to you and all of us foreigners pray that wherever you are, you are safe, healthy and happy. Sorry to have failed to live upto your expectations.
P.S: Hell isn't something that you just curse out. Just let this captain and his crew live in "living hell" or execute them because they don't deserve to live.

Those students tried their best to keep themselves calm and less frightened by smiling and laughing with each other. I can't imagine what they've gone through last minute of boat sinking. I can't stop crying :((

South Korea has some notorious mass tragedy, like the soompang department store collapse, this sewol ferry and Itaewon, all cause of government incompetence
The fact it took them that long is despicable. Barely any effort was made to bring justice to the victims and families by those who caused it and by those who were meant to try to save them.

The fact some mother said her daughter was posting in facebook says after the sinking asking for help and videos of kids slowly dying in recovered phones shows they didn't rush they took their tim to try and sabotage any help while waiting for those precious souls to sadly die just imagine your there fighting waiting for help as they said it would come ending up seeing your classmates bodies floating in water while after days you see no help and think "I'm gonna die" because a selfish person wanted to end help just kills my head

every time i hear about the sewol ferry tragedy i just burst out crying. it’s so upsetting that so many young, beautiful lives were lost when they could have easily been saved. what’s worse is all those videos of people saying “i really don’t want to die” and “let’s meet up when we survive”. knowing that they never did survive and unfortunately passed away hurts me so darn much, and I’m sure it hurts the families even more. my heart goes out to victims and families of this tragic disaster. i couldn’t think of any worse way to pass. I used to read a comment from a Korean. He said: after 1 day when The ferry sank, most of student were still Alived. The students tried to message to their family to help them out. I cant imagine that Atmosphere they have suffered, around them all dark, scream, water and cold. Disgusting. R. I. P all angles

This year is the tenth anniversary of this tragedy and to think that so many bodies were not found is heartbreaking for their families. These types of accidents teach me that when you see that your life is in danger it is necessary to act in your own way.

For a while the South Korean government fought against the people that actually wanted to help from doing anything.
I remember where i was when i heard this on the news. At that time i was barely hanging on to my life so it wasnt important to me. I was surviving. About a year ago i came across the documentaries... this made me cry. To hear the parents tell the kids to stay with the teacher. To hear the announcement to stay where you are. To watch news clips of parents being told everything was ok only to find out nothing would be ok again. To learn civilian scuba divers were risking their health to find the children. I cry everytime. Everytime i get more information or watch interviews. I feel this more than i feel the shootings in America and that makes me feel bad. But so many were lost. For something so stupid... greed, ignorance. And theres nothing i can do.
I prayed for the souls of victims who died. I hope they find their justice and the light. 🙏

In my opinion this is one of the worse disasters in history, no one accepted the help they were being offered, the crew violated safely regulations and told passengers to stay in their cabins to die

I recently found out about this news because of UA-cam recommendation. When I watched this videos I was simply horrified and can't help but shed tears to those High School students. They have a whole life waiting for them and yet it was cut short because of those selfish adults who only thinks of themselves. I can't help but be brokenhearted to this young ones, thinking that I also have younger siblings who are in the same ages of this kids. Imagining it, it was more than enough to bring sorrow to my soul. How much more for this families and friends who truly lose their love ones. It's so heart breaking.
When I first found this news, I was like why the heck I was not aware about this news? This news is so tragic that I'm sure all over the world could have heard it but when I check the timeline of the news, it was 2014. Right there and then, I knew. It was not like I wasn't paying attention to the news. It was because at that time I was also experiencing our own tragedy. The Super Typhoon Yolanda had devastated Tacloban city and surrounding places that it cut us away from the world outside.
My prayers goes for this souls who could have lived their life fully. I know your life here on Earth was cut short but I'm sure that you guys are already in God's hand. With him, he will keep you safe.

I stayed up watching information about this until 5 in the morning and I finally fell asleep and for days I swear I had the same dream
Where I went to korea myself then I go diving to go find the remaining bodies underwater. I have been searching for days and the only thing I found was a arm that belonged to a mom.

On April 4,2021 in our country (🇧🇩🇧🇩) a ferry also drowned.there was 40 passengers(including kids also) . Rescue team found 35 bodies and 5 bodies still missing...

I got to know about this yesterday it made me soo sad and emotional thinking that all of them could have been alive Idk why everyone took this soo lightly the worst is that they had life jackets if only they were instructed to just come out from that ship they could have stayed on water floating for hours and could have been saved they had time to save everyone the students just obeyed and trusted the wrong people and died it's better to do something if you are facing such situations this was the lesson I got RIP pure souls 💔

The thing thats so crazy is that you visit to witness history of places where people die. But unlike Auswitch or other very dark, sad and deep places THIS WAS ONLY 7 YEAS AGO. Its actually insane that how far we have gotten in terms of modern and high safety in our equiptment today, this accur.
