Oh man, I'm not even halfway through the video and my emotions are flowing! It is great to see all these great teammates of Jeter show up. Tino Jorge, CC, Andy and MO all still look great as if they can still go out on the field and kck some ass.
Growing up in the Bronx this team thanks to my father has meant the world to me. I’m 64 years old and my dad’s long gone. But each significant event has me crying like a baby because of the memories it stirs up. April 96 I caught a foul ball. Went down to the rail and had a kid I’d never seen sign it. I still have it. Love you Derek
I was born in 91 In NYC and every kid around my age who was a baseball fan in the Tri-state area wanted to be Jeter with a swing like Ken Griffey jr. It was a great time to be a kid and a Yankee Fan. Back then, my mother worked in downtown Manhattan and every year that the Yankees won the World Series, she would always act as if she couldn’t take us then surprise my brother and I and take us out of school to go to the parade .. 96, 98, 99, 2000 were all insane memories I will never forget. I just remember all of NYC in straight pandemonium especially during the subway series in 2000. Remember, this is pre 9/11 so there was no scare of outside threats, No smart phones, No Surveillance on every corner. The city was just rocking and New Yorkers were wild. Back in 2015, I bought my now wife to a game and realized that it was my first game that I have ever been to where Derek wasn’t playing. Seeing this video just affirms what I always knew as a kid, that Derek would end up in the HOF. Crazy how fast time goes. Thanks for the memories Jeets and giving all of us baseball loving kids a childhood to remember
I was 11 years old in 1995 when Derek came up to me on the third baseline before the game and had me throw my foul ball to him so he could walk up to me and sign it. for 26 years he has been a great part of my life and made the Yankees a wonderful thing to share with my now passed brother and father. like billy crystal said all we can say is thank you.
I'm a huge Dodgers fan, have been all my life... That said, Derek is one of the absolute best to ever play ball... True living legend who did it right on & off the field...... .......Be well, do well & God bless y'all 🙏🏼🇺🇸
He walks among the greatest of all time. You couldn't write a better script. A Yankee star and legend through & through. A class act!! Thanks for the memories and brilliantly played baseball.
I thank the baseball gods and my parents of course that I grew up in this generation. I have seen him play live over 200 times I met him at a restaurant called Chin Chin off of 2nd avenue. I bought him a Heineken..... Didn't drink it. Lol..... He signed my jersey at Fenway Park right over the dugout on patriot Day..... We met at the Mobil gas station on The deegan parkway getting gas.... Always personable. Always friendly. Always a true gentleman. Thank you, Derek Jeter
@@jasonfederice3041 after living those teams and seeing the winning over and over again, it's so hard to watch this team now. hopefully we can pull out of it
Back in 90s, Jeter was not the top SS of Big 3 but ended up having the best career among them. He simply delivered when it mattered the most. Just a perfect player for a championship team.
As a lifelong Yankees fan, I've seen so.many greats, alot of Hall of Famers, Rickey, Dave Winfield, MO, Willie Randolph, Thurman Munson, Andy Pettitte, Goose, etc. Derek Jeter is by far one of the greatest to ever play! All the guys here are so missed from the glory days, but now with Derek in his retirement, & free from the Marlins front office- maybe the Yankee GM spot is calling him, & possibly Donnie Baseball could take over the Manager position??
We as fans was so spoiled, with so many legends. This ceremony has bought tears to my eyes. Congratulations to Derek Jeter on all of your achievements.
What a great ceremony. Derek has always been such a class act. I also loved the part when the fans booed Hal and he was like "sounds like you guys are ready for the postseason" I was dying 😂😂😂
@@marcgloria8376 I mean, they haven't played that long yet but there's no reason to think that, after all these years, they won't finish like Jeter. I truly hope Derek returns to the franchise he played his entire career with, and soon. I feel he could turn this team around from the front office. Maybe Hal should offer him the assistant general manager position. Imagine Derek and Cashman putting their minds together on potential trades and contract offers.
