I watched this live, the David Cone Perfect Game with Yogi & Larsen in attendance. My wife & I had the distinct honor of meeting Yogi at his museum in 2000 to watch Game 4 of the Subway Series between the Mets & Yankees for a fundraiser on our anniversary. At the end of the game Yogi & Carmen greeted those who stayed for the whole game like we watched it at their home. My wife hugged Yogi & Carmen goodnight. She had the nerve to do it. Since she did, so did I. God bless Yogi and his bride. Thanks for posting!
@@rancidcrawfish Amazing. I.had a professor in college at Towaon U, Dr. Calderhead who.used to quote Yogi frequently. He was elserly in 2001. I do not know if he still lives. I enjoyed his class , wven though regular common cents says much of "his story" is simply that fabercations and vary generous retellings to serve the agenda of the so.called controllers. He made the class interesting. And it was great bc he always had a yogi bearra quote or anticdote. 3 cheers for Dr. Calderhead. Hip.hip horray. Hip hop horray. As a 12 year old I was present at Larsons Perfect game. Today I am 79 and each year when the World Series co es around they never fail to shot Yogi jumping into don Larson arms.
I purchased a ticket to attend a bus and ferry boat trip, from Yogi Berra Museum to Yankee Stadium with Yogi and his family on Yogi Berra Day. That was the same day that David Cone pitched his perfect game. A commerative baseball cap was given to all passengers on the trip that day. The ferry boat made a stop along the way to pick up Rudy Giuliani and I was fortunate enough to have Yogi and Rudy autograph the commemorative cap. Needless to say it was a memorable event for all who attended the festivities and game that day. That excursion proved priceless for my friends and me. However I would like to add David Cone’s autograph on that cap to go along with Yogi’s and Rudy’s, to make it my perfect game. How can I get Coney to sign it?
That was awesome! Gave me goosebumps. He and Mickey were my two favorite players of all time. And now I see there is a Mickey Mantle Day on UA-cam which I'm obviously going to have to watch. This was special. Thanks for sharing.
Here in 2023 Watching these lovable old clips of the old Yankee Stadium! SURE MISS THE CATHEDRAL and IT'S HISTORY! THIS MIGHT SOUND DIFERENT, BUT WISH THEY TEAR DOWN THE NEW STADIUM, AND THEY BUILT A NEW STADIUM BACK AT ACROSS THE STREET OF THE SAME OLD GROUNDS. MAKE IT FELL MORE LIKE A THE OLD ENVIRONMENT.
how on God's green earth could you down vote this!! Yogi a Wonderfull human being and the return of the favorite son to the stadium!! The smile on Riveria's face is priceless.
I met yogi Berra at upper Montclair New Jersey year 1996. I was visiting my sister she lived on the other side of the street. I was out side and I waved at logo, and he waved back i said hello I wish i would have talked to him. My Sister was Sharon pickard,
It was really a perfect day twice ?. I love the Yankees and Yogi & Cone 100% i was born March of 61 I've been part of 9 world's series championships and 15 AL championships. I'm a bless human being folks.
One heck of a great ball player . I went to old timers game in 2017 .We also went to Cooperstown that week . It is something you have to do at least once !
Yogi Berra went berserk when Jackie Robinson was called 'safe' when he stole home in Game 1 of the 1955 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers, won by the Dodgers in seven games, their only World Series title while based in Brooklyn. And of course, the Yankees PA announcer for Yogi Berra Day was still the legendary Bob Sheppard. Don Larsen threw out the ceremonial first pitch to his old batterymate, neither man realizing they would witness history as David Cone threw a perfect game against the Minnesota Twins.
I was a catcher on a high school team. Yogi must be amongst the 100 greatest athletes compilation. Mickey Mantle was #37. I also am a Poetician and juggLinguist. My two 'Yogiisms' are "I don't mind poverty; I just can't afford it!". And "That's the best food I ever hated."...which occurred at a nutrician line when they served up another "ham and scalloped potatoes, green beans, and peaches."........Thomas Tossen Vossen.
What a ballplayer - I didn't even realize that Yogi hit 350 homers - Damn that's Man's Game - Nice as a human could possibly be and tougher than Tarzan's feet
Please don't steal 2nd base on me or steal my original yogi-isms. One time I quipped, "I bought an audio tape on 'Procrsstination. I decided to place it up on a shelf and listen to it later!"......I read eight of his little books. My favorite yogiism was "If life was perfect; it wouldn't be!"......his comments were somewhere between wisdom and absurdity.
I don't know if anyone lived a better, fuller life than Yogi. I miss him.

There will never be another, Yogi. Imagine going a full season striking out only 12 times. Or going to 14 world series and winning 10.
I never knew that he only has 12 strikeouts in a season.
@@cjones3710 I think he had around 400 for his career total or something

They down vote this because they have a miserable life.
If you see a fork in the road take it. Loved Yogi as a Tiger fan all those years ago. What a leader for the Yanks.
My eyes leak every time I watch this. A great human being who played on teams loaded with superstars and he quietly outshines them all.
Most beloved sports icon in history. Ain’t nobody doesn’t love Yogi.
Suzie did us all a service going to Steinbrenner and making this happen.
Watching this brings me so much joy
"I want to thank everyone for making this day necessary."
And afterwards, of course, David Cone pitched a perfect game.
That was better than Hollywood.
