I carry the HK45 on duty but have the HK VP40 as well. Both are high quality and if I have to move to a striker fire in 9MM this is what I will go to. I don't anticipate having to ever do so and will keep my HK45 as my duty pistol until I retire. But that looks awesome and I would love to try it and the RDS system.
I carry the P30SK, complete with the P30L but my HK45 is by the bed. I’m not an HK only guy but they work for me. Can you share what you do for a living? I never see HK as a duty weapon in the U.S..
The grip straps sold me. Mine are set up (asymmetrically - because you can) for perfect point of aim. Smooth, smooth gun.
I also prefer the mag release on the trigger guard.
Always good to see Ranger Dave. Sua Sponte!
9 years ago I retired my Glock 19 as my EDC and replaced it with the VP9. Now I'm thinking about purchasing the VP9 SK for summertime carry. The HK is a little over engineered but very high quality and a great shooter.
HK has never had a recall on their guns, which is extremely weird. I never heard anyone ever having an issue with them either. Seems too good to be true. But if it's true that's Linda crazy. Only issue I find online is that law enforcement doesn't carry them because parts are hard to find since HK focuses on big military contracts. They get first in line
#1 will always be the USP line. Unbeatable reliability and durability. HK really need to update it and release a USPM with a Picatinny rail and a red dot mounting system. And maybe in 10mm and .357 SIG from the factory.
Isn't the P2000 and then the P30 supposed to be the evolution of the USP?
I've had a VP9 for 7 years now, my EDC and an absolutely fantastic pistol. I've gotten so used to the paddle mag release that I'm slower on a button. I have just over 4K through it with zero malfunctions, and funny enough, most of that is 115gr range ammo (brass and steel). I haven't done any handloads through it, as that's not my thing, but my VP9 seems to be happy to chew through whatever I want to feed it.
Jack Bauer is smiling !!!!! Where ever he may be.😀👍🏾👌🏾👏🏾💯
I’m still out here rocking my p2000.
I feel like P2000 or P30 is a preference thing.
The P2000 was the first gun I became very proficient with. Great gun very accurate
Are you the real one ?
if you go to the vp9 you be taking a step down
The HK hammer fired P30 and P2000 are better IMO. I particularly like the LEM trigger on my P2000.
If you want something special, get your hands on a P30L DAO LEM with Langdon Tactical install of Gray Guns flat trigger and the LTT trigger work. 1.3# to 90 degree wall, breaks at 3.5#. All th reliability of hammer fire, the safety for carry of DAO and a totally next level HK.
I run this exact setup in 9 &40. Try finding another lem P30L in 40. Took 2 years.
I used my VP9L ( Push Button mag release) in IDPA for a few years - was my first OR pistol. 5” USP style barrel with the O- ring is very accurate- tight groups at 25 . Interchangeable grip panels are awesome . Trigger is just fine as described. But personally I had a few things I didn’t like - sometimes mags wouldn’t drop free, the push button mag release isn’t great , the ergos on the takedown lever dig into my hand ( that’s a my grip thing ) . It is very reliable - no issues - just for my purposes as a competition gun - wasn’t quite there . Would recommend for everything but high speed gaming .
The magazine paddle release is the main reason I chose H&K pistols. I don’t even have to think about ejecting a mag. It just happen automatically for me.
I have to break my grip with a button release. Or I use my support hand thumb to hit it but that slows my reload.
then why are your reloads still slow?
Just hit the CA roster a few days ago.
I’ve had all major striker fired . Got a vp9 recently . It’s beats them all . No issues with 115 mag tech all day . But mine was 2016 I got it used . The spring and fit is strong . The actual cycling and trigger felt like a single action pistol . Wouldn’t buy a Glock over this except for 45 cal .
The ergonomics are great and easy to fine tune. A lot of other polymer striker fired pistols only offer backstraps but nothing on the sides. They fixed the mag issues early on. I'd love to see some of the high round count ones over the years and recommendations when to change springs. Most of the German Police carry them. Sadly, the match one doesn't fit the box for ipsc with the mag extensions. One has to use a shorter magwell and maybe mess with the extensions. The L version only comes with the button release afaik. Would be nice if both would be an option.
I shoot USPSA. I just cant understand why H&K (VP9L) has the "flared-in" magwell, makes competition reloads a nightmare... Great gun, just needs some minor tweaks.
How many rounds out of a pistol do Army Rangers shoot a year while in the Army?
USP’s and P2000’s for me. Maybe a p30L soon. Only vp9 I’m interested in is the unreleased cc.
Wish they would make an optics ready P30.
Take a look at Langdon Tactical. You can buy an optics ready P30/P30L/P30sk directly from them
VP40 is my Favorite Compact pistol! BEST ERGO BEST RECOIL BEST SIGHTS! GLOCK SUXS

Who needs pistols when you have Dave's guns?
I’m
Since HK (among others) doesn't allow civilians to take their armorer courses (only government contractors, LEO's, and Military) they can take a big leap of the proverbial bridge. Why support a company that won't even allow a licensed dealer to take their armorer courses?... Answers anyone?....
I buy their products because they are high quality, reliable and I’d trust my family’s life on them. But you do you.
I've taken the vp 9 armorers course and I'm a civilian. Could have taken the mp 5 course as well
VP9s blow. Classic hk or nothing
How do they blow?
My first pistol was a VP9SK. Then got a VP9 then a VP9L. Next up is a VP9T. So, I learned on a paddle mag release and absolutely love it. My only wish- a threaded barrel for the VP9L. Mine is set up with a light and red dot but would be perfect with a suppressor. Nightstand go to.
I carry the sk and the paddle mag release is faster than all my button release guns by using my strong hand index finger. Button makes me break my grip.
Alabama Arsenal has a torture test video on his VP9 for anyone wondering how far they can pushed.
“HK VP9SK 1000 Round Review and Torture Test”
HK for me. I have big palms but short fingers and the P30 series works really well for me. I can work the paddle mag release with my forefinger and my short thumbs can work the decocker easily. I’m not an HK snob, but I will bet my life on them. I guess I’m a fudd, I still prefer hammer fired
I have 4 vp9s and love them. never a malfunction...ever. as a lefty this is the best ambi out of the box on the market. i have large hands and the grip options are main reason i have this over a G19.
Got any SKs?
I'd like to see the STP dude with his shirt off. He is built like a baby bull ! I don't believe the cat even needs a firearm ! LOL
Hello. When hk fsp9 cc is going to be release?
It would be cool if the 20-round mags were USPSA legal but otherwise I've always really liked my VP9.
The barrels are made from cannon steel also.
Def need to check out a vp9.
I have all three lengths of the VP9 and the SK is my favorite pistol to shoot of everything I own.
You don't buy an $800+ pistol to shoot cheap, weak ammo. I don't anyway. I've never had a single FTF FTE or operation failure of any kind, using high-quality full-powered or +P/NATO ammo, regardless of bullet type or weight, with any HK P30 series or VP9 series even brand new (of course I strip and lube any new gun, making sure all the cosmoline is gone before ever firing a round).
I have been looking at there p30L
Very nice.
So glad to see this. I carry a VP9 for my EDC and on duty. Love it.
Hk usp
I looked at Holosun STS but it doesn't have the wake on movement feature that most others have. I settled on a 507C with green LED for my VP9 Match. I liked the larger sight picture too and the Holosun offers 8 different dot/circle combos that the SRO doesn't have. Plus it costs less.
Did the guy on the left shoot his neck off his shoulders?
i had the 2020 vp9 when it was released. it was my first gun i owned. after a year of carrying then shooting other handguns i found i didnt enjoy shooting the vp9. after about 1500 rounds i sold it.
i own a czp09 thats my absolute favorite hand gun. i switch it out for carry with the Glock 45. the czp09 is the best shooting gun i have every owned or shot
VP9 B is my main squeeze
HK dudes a waste of space
