- Sony Xperia 1: Studio Portrait Test
We test how well the Sony Xperia 1 holds up in a studio portrait scenario. In the video, we compare the Xperia 1 with the iPhone, an Android OnePlus and a Nikon Z6. We also make a bunch of prints to see how well the camera holds up in a real-world environment.

We have reached a point where the consumer does not want to be natural but wants to be flattered and amazed, and that Samsung and Huawei have understood.
Yea definitely. For the majority of people who aren't photographers/videographers the sony sucks. Sony is for those who know what their doing and need total manual control
@@angeljaimes9703 its mean sony xperia 1 just for profesional ppl
True
Indeed, Sony is the original Carbonara pasta recipe. Samsung and Huawei are Carbonara with cream added. 🤮
We need professional youtubers like you...Hats off to you..
Sony is Sony.. Camera 📸 performance is outstanding 👌
Yep.
Is it available in India..?

Many doesnt know, If you have an Xperia Phones, you have alreay a DSLR Camera in the Manual Mode feature. I Love SONY
So professional comparison. Thank you very much...
your videos are professional , you are doing an amazing job really , you deserve WAY more attention and followers , keep up and all the best luck ....
Sony got back on the track with Xperia 1 , and I wish and think that the next Sony phones will be better
Thanks Mido
Wow Xperia 1 ! 🔥💪👌
Thanks for giving Sony some love.
Can you please give Nokia PureView 9 some love, with it's raw, tof sensors, and multiple exposure, it has got to be camera of the year among phones if you use the manual controls and light room, however it has no telephoto or ultra-wide angle.
Nokia! Long live Nokia!
@@MikeHagen lol
Very spectacular review in both videos, keep it up buddy.
Thank you!
🥰🥰🥰
My Xperia 1 🥰🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
Is this with the latest camers update? Cos' it is better with that.
Come back... Your videos are great man
I love my Xperia 1
Sony best
Thanks, really good comparison. I prefer the Xperia.
Fyi you accidentally went to Automode I n the Xperia after hitting back. Are ur samples with Auto or Manual?
Wow ..Can you please do this on the new Xperias?
For portrait on the Xperia I would not use the "bokeh mode". I get better results - including bokeh - without this feature just using the main lens. Was all photos shot in Auto or Manual? Eye AF works well.
Youre great youtuber 👏
Nice guy nice haircut good content thanks buddy
Great video, XPERIA 1 is the best phone :)
I like our review style, I hope to see you cover the Xperia 1 ii and Iphone 11 pro
Wish you had tested the Xperia 1 under regular indoor lighting instead of with studio lighting. I had very bad result when taking photos indoor, the white balance is completely wrong (to yellowish) and overly exposed when it detects a face which switched to soft snap mode. My previous iPhone X completely blow the Xperia 1 away..
That's a good point Herman. Ambient light might produce different results. I've been doing lots of studio work with my mobile phones lately, so I wanted to understand how well they performed in that environment.
Sorry to interrupt here but regular indoor lighting are often hard to get colors correct due to the fact that different types of lighting used. One might use fluorescent but either warmer or daylight balanced type... So there are various factors at one time. But a good camera will definitely has a good automatic white balance... Which is the one you're looking for. CRI takes in account too.
Big white reflector should not turn out gold color as iPhone 11, it's not a big gold reflector, there is another type with silver reflector which can change the color tone too.
Sony xperia 1
Xperia 5 please. Thanks for this one.
Hopefully we can do that one soon.
The came setup is exactly the same as on Xperia 1
Probably the same performance because they've the same processor and camera
Same camera setup
I'm wondering, why didn't you make use of the photo pro app?
Nice comparison 🙂
Does the Xperia 1 have the latest updates? It gets significantly better with it
Yeah all your shots were shot in Automode with the Xperia. Iso, Exposure, WB, Shutter etc setting indicators should always be visible near the shutter icon when in this mode. Maybe an update to the review is needed?
Hi
I am from iran
Thank you❤
hats off😍
well done!
Veryy nice!!!!
But you said you use manual mode on xperia 1. But i see you change it back to auto mode. Still beautiful photo!! 🤩
You can't use manual on the telephoto lens.
@@aeon4901 ooohh is it??
My phone only have 1 camera so i don't know this thing.
@@naimeshirou9734
I got two camera lens...
One front, One rear..
-wtf-
@@Yusukeleon hahaha thats true! 😄
@@aeon4901 You can, if you pinch to zoom
I always wondered why its good that in portrait-mode blur out the background that much that its almost looks like the object you, in this case the girl, looks cut into the photo. While on the Sony its looks (at least to me) not that aggressiv. It looks like the background and the object are in the same photo, while you in sense clearly can see that its almost 2 photos in the iPhone and Nikkon. Sure its a cool effect and all, but never really understood why anyone really would like this effect?
That's a good point. The Sony is very natural with their portrait mode effect.
I, for one, think that portrait photography does this much like macros. I mean, you only do this to put the subject into greater emphasis. It emulates the human eye perspective where in, if you focus unto something, your peripheral vision gets blurry. That is why people tends to favor the blurry backgroud. It brings out what ever they want people to focus into. As for Xperia, I think it's giving off a point and shoot camera impression that it makes it's portrait as subtle as possible.
IPhone 11 has added a "gold reflector" to looks warmer (not the real scene), Nikon Z6 is awesome it is natural and doesn't feel like Artificial.
Mind telling us why did you choose ISO100 over 50?
Hi. Has Sony actually fixed the most annoying issues of the camera (w/ the latest update) such as:
1. Overheating when recording 1080p/60 or 4K/30?
2. Slow autofocus or lack thereof?
3. Poor dynamic range? (Both cameras)
4. Somewhat poor low light photos?
5. Zoom/telephoto lens quality is so-so?
And has it also improved the battery life too?
Please do a camera review for the Xperia 1ii.
Well done
It's a cloudy day and the photos from iPhone have sunshine on its shots.. Which I don't like. And edit: look at the eyes of the model... Sony shots looks great.
Did u try manual mode?
Need a review on Xperia Mark II
What about the cinemapro app???
Does the eye af on sony works well?
Yes.
Works great. Very happy with the AF results.
Nice video
Sony 🔥
great video
Thank you Yabi.
Sony Xperia 1 looks natural colors but Iphone 10 seems like the colors are forced... The Nikon Z6 is a bit better handling the colors then Sony Xperia 1.
The Z6 just shows how capable a large sensor and better glass really are compared to smartphone cameras.
Sony should up their game, they are in the camera industry they should have caught on 3 years ago
I think they are working hard to stay in the game. The Xperia 1 is a great entry into the high-end mobile market.
Sony are the Best.
10 mark 2?????? we neeed
go ahead bro
Great video! She's so beautiful😍
Thank you.
@@MikeHagen I also appreciate that you print the shots that's a pretty uncommon phone review. That's quality content👌
Sony are the Best if you are pofectional you kan see that, sony are de best image and LCD, it's a fact!
Sony brutality 💪🏻
iPhone's white balance is always warmer. I prefer Sony.
He should've used the the Xperia shutter key.
You seem to be exactly the type of person who Nokia 9 Pureview is made for.
Why is that?
@@MikeHagen The device is designed for those who appreciate the raw output of the camera and understand that it can be improved to the users liking with programs such as lightroom.
Sony lover here
Lol
Try the xperia 5 is better than 1
2017 compared to 2019 haha
Agree. The xperia 1 have great câmeras!
Apple Iphone 11 pro photos Better than sony xperia 1
I haven't tested that yet, but hope to do so in the near future. I'm hearing really great things about the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro cameras.
