I work at a foster home for teen girls and one of them asked me if I could make chicken and dumplings today. I knew I couldnt spend as much time making it as my grandmother did way back when from scratch. I came across your video and executed it to a T! My girls loved it!! Not a drop left! Thank you! You made their day!
Oh wow, thank you! In turn, you made mine. That is so awesome!! Tell the girls I'm glad they liked it and as they get older to fix it for their family and my recipe will continue on. Thank you for making my day!!

these rude comments are outrageous . Ms Debbie this recipe looks delicious God bless you and you are a lovely woman don't let anyone tell you different
not trying to be rude but she does invite comments even ones that might be negative. My personal opinion is the recipe is just OK, not bad, but I've had better and listening to someone talk incessantly about how easy it is to make was driving me crazy. Very disorganized repeated herself too much, had to fast forward, BUT I liked the refrigerated bisquits a lot saves a lot of time.
I was taught to use biscuits for dumplings in my high school homemaking class,in 1968. Even my mother stopped making dumplings from " scratch" and started using the biscuits.... I love the biscuit dumplings!!!
Donna, I really don't know. I'm gonna put mine in either a crock pot or my Instant Pot on slow cook for the holidays so that whoever may stop by will have a warm serving of this dish. My family absolutely love this. Have a great week. 🥸🥳🤓🧐
Man I grew up making them by hand once a week. Then moved out at 15 and continued doing that for a decade until I moved up north and someone asked me what kind of biscuits I used lol I was like are they drunk ? I didn’t make biscuits. Then she told me this trick. And I’ve never went back and that was almost 20 years ago. I honestly like the way they taste better than home made home made us more bready and heavy and makes so much more of a mess.
We have made dumplings this way in my home for better than ten years now. It's always delicious. The kids really enjoy it. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. It really is a wonderful recipe for moms on the go. And to April, the true horror of the situation is your lack of manners! Your comment was totally rude and unnecessary. Please stop being a bully! If you don't like it, leave the page. Debbie, thank you again for sharing.
I always cut the small biscuits in quarters and then I roll them in flour if you don't do that they stick together and you end up with a Big Blob I've been doing this recipe for about 40 years it's easy as hell thanks
Could the Pillsbury pizza dough be used. If I floured both sides of the dough and rolled them out on a floured cutting board. And cut them in small squares like Cracker Barrel does? Thanks for any information.😀💛
Yes it is very easy to make and oh so good. Every time I get a comment on this video, it makes me want some. lol. Thank you for commenting and let me know what you think after you make them. :)
Made the chicken and dumplings and wow I must say it taste amazing. The biscuits taste just like dumplings and it was creamy and tasteful. My kids and husband loves it.... Thanks so much for this tasty dish!
This recipe is delicious! My kids and husband love it. It is now my go to recipe for chicken and dumplings. If people make nasty comments about somebody cooking then that's a reflection of their own misery not your cooking, Debbie! . Keep up the awesome work and delicious recipes!
Awesome job ! I am a very good cook! I've been cooking for over 40 years, you have to do things in your home, and kitchen that work for you and your family! I love your chicken & dumplings recipe it reminds me of my Dad's recipe. Blessings to you, stay encouraged , and always keep your hands in God's hands!
Tina Cosom. Know this is a old Post but well said! if anyone don't like the recipe, go cook how u want, don't leave negative comments on here! Your right Miss cosom, we have to do what works for us in our kitchen,
My mom made these for us “kids” (37, 34 and 28) tonight. Just want to say thank you for putting in the effort to make a video and tell you how great they were
Thanks for watching and responding. My grandmother made them from scratch but I really like the biscuits better. It is just such a simple and delicious recipe. :)
I am a witness this method of chicken and dumplings is absolutely delicious. I am actually making some tonight. My recipe is similar, but I don't use canned chicken broth, I use the liquid from the boiled chicken. I also add peas, carrots and onions. Muy delicioso!! Ignore negative comments, they have nothing better to do with their time. This is a "comfort food" recipe for the working person.
Some people can't BOIL WATER! This is sooo good, made it this way for years, AND my grandmother would have too, if she had canned bis. You go Girl.., at least it's not TAKE OUT!!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Debbie's videos and have been inspired to do some cooking videos. Sharing some of my special recipes over my 41 years of cooking. Which thirty(30) years as a trained chef/cook of my 41 years. during my 6 years in college and 4 years of culinary training, I got started at the age of (9) nine when my mom had to have eye surgery!!!
I love this recipe! My mamma cooks chicken and dumplings just like this. It's a staple in my house! Now that I'm grown this is how I cook them for my son and.he LOVES them :) thanks for sharing
Thanks. I know some people were probably hoping for a 20+ ingredient recipe where they could break out all their fancy kitchen gadgets and cook all day long but your recipe is really what 99% of cooking is like in my family. Nothing wrong with that, tastes just as good! Don't have time for much else or we'd be going out to eat!
My mother has made Chicken And Dumplings in a similar way to this one, the main similarity being the canned biscuits, and honestly, it never fails. It may not be "Homemade" but seeing as some of the homemade recipes only use flour, water and salt for their dumpling batter....using a canned biscuit really isn't a big deal if not actually being better than the simple homemade alternative, nice recipe, all that matters it that it tastes good.
i loved the simplicity, your accent and the love to you family that is very obvious in your comment.I really wish to try the dish as YOU cook. I'm sure you make it wonderful. This is the first time in my life I laugh and enjoy listening and feeling the smell and taste while I am only watching from distance God bless you madam Debbie, you are awesome.
this Looks amazing! I used the frozen strips of dumplings a few days ago.. but I'm dying to try it with those yummy thick biscuits! I showed this to my husband & he's so excited for me to make it this way. I'll let you know how it goes with the kids to! thanks for sharing with us
I can't wait to try this solo and later make this for my family when I visit. It looks so delicious that it is kind of a sin that it's this easy to make! You rock, Debbie! And your 'haters' can take a hike.
I made your chicken and dumplings recipe tonight. Let me tell you it was fantastic. This was my very first time ever making chicken and dumplings. I can't begin to say thank you enough for your wonderful chicken and dumplings recipe. We'll be having this meal a lot ☺👍
I just used this recipe, and it was great! I did change it up a bit. I put chopped celery, red pepper, peas, and minced garlic in. I also added a can of cream of celery because it wasn't thick as I would like. But it was seriously great
When I was young there were canned whole chickens. Mom would cook in the juices, pepper and celery salt and water. She would de-bone the chicken after it had boiled for a little while and add back in and add the canned biscuits. We loved it. This sounds so easy and creamy. yummmm...thanks for bringing back a great memory. And yes I am going to try it.
tried this orn my Thanksgiving meal ,I never try something new on a special day,I had to use more broth ,I used grands biscuits. I can tell you it was all eaten and happy guests about this dish!! couldn't do it without you !
I just made this. It wad great... but I didn't have time to boil the chicken so I baked boneless beasts and then shredded them up in the soup. I also added 1 cup of frozen peas and carrots at the end.
Justin Espinoza Awesome...anyway you can make it for yourself or your family and they like it is a winner. Thanks for commenting and I am so glad you put your own spin on it and you liked it. :)
Hey Debbie. I love my dumplings made from scratch like my grandmother taught me but sometimes when I'm pressed for time this is a great alternative. I don't know about you but I will take dumplings anyway I can get them. Hugs
Thanks for sharing! I haven't felt good at all lately so I am making this as an easy but good dinner. We are from the south but in Alaska as a military family and this sure reminds me of home!!
Hello, and thanks for commenting. I haven't been on much lately to answer the comments because of a death in the family. I hope you are feeling better and that you liked the chicken and dumplings. Have a good day and thanks again. :)
I have made this several times. The only thing I have trouble with, is after it starts boiling IF I put the biscuits in to soon they all melt. I have learned to let it sit with no heat for 5 to 8 min, then drop in the biscuits. Also for a little extra flavor put in a packet of Lipton's Onion mix. Depending on how much I make I add a chicken bouillon cube or two. This is a really good tasty meal. But it is Not diet friendly. I made this for a family of 7, about 4 gallons. They cleaned the pot. They last time I saw them they begged me to make more.
Great recipe! Hey you know what? Cook a whole chicken in your broth! Then cool it off, pull the meat and add Clear Rice Noodles, Ginger and green onions! A little soy and put the chicken back in and serve over rice! That is called Chicken with long rice and its a Awesome Hawaiian version of chicken dumplings to have as a sweet alternative to this amazing dish! Ya'll know variety is the spice of life!
+Craig Haagenson I am going to try this. Sounds great! Thanks for commenting and telling me the recipe. Can't wait to make it and see if my family likes it. Have a great day!!!
I wasn't too sure how this would turn out but I cooked it today and my husband is over the moon about it. It's so ceamy and delicious! Today was nasty and rainy and this was the perfect meal for this kind of day. Thank you so much!!!!!
Clarissa Marie I've never tried it with peas and carrots but I might try it in the near future. Thank you so much for commenting. It is one of my families favorite dishes that I make. Have a great week!!
I have been making a similar recipe using the canned biscuit dough method for years. Your tutorial is absolutely correct in that it is the easiest chicken and dumplings you will ever make. thank you so much for the video, you are such a delight to listen to , you sound like my family.
Because most can chicken soups and broth get most of their flavor from carrots, celery and onions. You dont make chicken soup out of just boiled chicken water do you?
Also since when is dumping in some frozen veggies “difficult” the real statement would be idkehy people complicate a good easy veggie stock by boiling and having to debone and entire chicken
This is exactly how my Mom always made it!!! She passed away 10/31/20, but we're going to honor her by making them for Thanksgiving. Thank you for posting!!!
I'm so sorry but what a great way to remember her for Thanksgiving. Food is one of the things that always bring back good memories of mom's and grandmother's. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!!
Made these years ago using your video and remembered how good they turned out. Used the recipe again and my husband loves them. Thank you so much for sharing!
I believe dark meat is the way to go... what you have of course is white meat and it looks stringy.... although... I would love this:)...might needs some color and variation.... but... Im not a pro... just an eater.
Thank you for this video it really cuts the time in half by so much and I absolutely love your southern accent it's adorable I'm from Texas and my husband loves chicken and dumplings this is absolutely perfect if you're on a budget or in a hurry and want some comfort food I can't thank you enough take care and God bless!!
I left this comment 3 years ago Ms.Debbie and I can tell you every year to this day I still use this awesome recipe it’s so simple and tasty!! I can’t thank you enough!
I make mine just about like this but I don't use the soup. I put my chicken on to boil in plain water with some salt, pepper, bullion cubes and garlic. While that is goin on I dredge my biscuits in flour, cut them in pieces and keep them in the fridge covered in flour. After the chicken is cool I leave the broth on boiling and since I don't have the color of the soup in there I put a few drops of yellow food coloring in cause if it looks good it tastes good. Bone the chicken, add it back bring to a boil and shake the biscuits off and drop them in one at the time. The flour thickens the gravy and it is just yummy.
I followed this recipe 4 years ago at Thanksgiving! My family loved it and compared it to my granny's (who is no longer with us). I was pumped and have been making it this way every since. The only difference is, I flatten my biscuits out with a rolling pin then cut them into little squares. I also ACCIDENTALLY picked up a can of cream of mushroom and didn't realize it until AFTER it was already in the pot. Surprisingly, it tasted great! So, I still put a can of cream and chicken & a can of cream of mushroom in mine. I still give all the credit to this video when anyone ask for the recipe! Thank you for sharing👍🏽😋👍🏽
Kim Mozingo the chicken and dumplings I grew up on always had peas, carrots, celery and onions. The only difference is pot pie has a crust and chicken and dumplings have dumplings.
I have rather be plump and happy. No one ever goes out of this world wishing they would have been thinner; however they wish they enjoyed life more. Enjoy what you enjoy, Thank you for the recipe, looks wonderful
Jacoby Barnett I don't think anything you said was wrong. I think they just meant that I would never be your personal chef cause you'll never win the lottery. It was a joke. lol. I'm so glad to hear you like this recipe. It will always be one of my families favorites. Have a wonderful week!!
Yung fly And dabbin lol you are funny. I have 570 cooking videos on UA-cam and pretty much add them weekly. I'm sure there has got to be something on my channel you like. Maybe one thing?? Have a great week!!
Great recipe but I prefer to make my dumplings myself they take less than 10 minutes I also add peas carrots and celery to my bra I do not use canned broth nothing against it but you already have a broth once you boil the chicken I try to cut costs anyway possible being a single parents widowed with three teens I tried to cut corners on cost any way possible but never cutting on taste and nutrients...
I work at a foster home for teen girls and one of them asked me if I could make chicken and dumplings today. Why are people so mean? If you don't have anything nice to say, keep quiet.

People are mean because they're misery guts's, they rain on every fun parade they attend, who needs 'em. Moaning Myrtle's can take a hike.
I always cut the small biscuits in quarters and then I roll them in flour if you don't do that they stick together and you end up with a Big Blob I've been doing this recipe for about 40 years it's easy as hell thanks
I suggest a dusting of cornstarch, so the outside layer gets slightly tender and chewey.
Drop them in one at a time and they won’t stick together! Been doing it 41 years.....
Could the Pillsbury pizza dough be used. If I floured both sides of the dough and rolled them out on a floured cutting board. And cut them in small squares like Cracker Barrel does? Thanks for any information.😀💛
WDOLL37 I’m sure you could, they might be a little more tough than using biscuits.

Made this today ! Added some peas and carrots but its also good by itself with no veggies to👌🏼☺
Clarissa Marie I've never tried it with peas and carrots but I might try it in the near future. Thank you so much for commenting. It is one of my families favorite dishes that I make. Have a great week!!
Debbie FoodPrepping I dnt eat any vegetables and it's still good
I have been making a similar recipe using the canned biscuit dough method for years. Your tutorial is absolutely correct in that it is the easiest chicken and dumplings you will ever make. thank you so much for the video, you are such a delight to listen to , you sound like my family.
I’m just wondering why some people make such an easy dish so difficult by using carrots, celery and onions
Probably because thats how theyre used to having them 🤷🏾♂️! What I dont get is why youre worried about how someone else wants to eat their food?
Because most can chicken soups and broth get most of their flavor from carrots, celery and onions. You dont make chicken soup out of just boiled chicken water do you?
Also since when is dumping in some frozen veggies “difficult” the real statement would be idkehy people complicate a good easy veggie stock by boiling and having to debone and entire chicken
I do like celery and onions in mine just a preference🤷
This is exactly how my Mom always made it!!! She passed away 10/31/20, but we're going to honor her by making them for Thanksgiving. Thank you for posting!!!
I'm so sorry but what a great way to remember her for Thanksgiving. Food is one of the things that always bring back good memories of mom's and grandmother's. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!!
The people that don't like it has no taste....
Melissa Barajas Thank you hon and good luck. Let me know if you like them when you fix them. :)

Ebony Mcneil Because that's not chicken and dumplings, that's chicken pot pie soup
Kim Mozingo the chicken and dumplings I grew up on always had peas, carrots, celery and onions. The only difference is pot pie has a crust and chicken and dumplings have dumplings.

Yes ma'am. Just made your recipe for my 71 yr old mother. She lovesss it thank you!
Eww. Peas and Carrots?? NEVER in traditional chick n Dumplings.
@@anniefannycharles9951 I always add peas and carrots because my family likes it that way...
