    Something to keep in mind, while the boat is a dream to sail at high speed, just remember that if you ever dig a hull, the relative wind is going to move behind you very fast since you will be slowing down so quickly. That will mean that if you ever catch a leeward hull, you will have to dump a ton more sail then you would ever expect and the initial easing will likely increase your healing as the wind could be moving aft faster then you can let it out. Moral of the story, if pushing a trimaran to the upper end, be alert. If you don't want to be alert, reduce sail early. I can see you all are competent sailors, just remember multi hulls have a different set rules they play by. Have fun, be safe. good luck w your videos.

    "faster, faster, till the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death" Hunter S. Thompson. I've been crew on a Farrier F9Ax for the past 5 years (Lake Huron) and my, oh my- everything else is just too slow. We typically raise the main onshore where its more stable and easier to trouble shoot if needed. Love, Love the trimarans! thanks for the post.

    Awesome video, me & Julie just sold our 2005 Privilege 615 Catamaran. We bought a condo in Key Largo and just wanted to down sized and I think we just found our next boat, wicked fast, looks like its easy to sail and plenty of room for two people to live aboard for a few months at a time and the sail time to the Bahamas has just been cut in half. The price is not bad for a new boat, $165,000 to $205,000 depending on how you have it decked out. Sierra & Billie thank you for this video, you guys just saved us months and hours looking for another boat and there are several dealers in South Florida that carry this brand......

      My Dad and I bought a F 27 2 weeks ago from Bob and Ira @ Multi Hull source. Its hull #100. We are learning each day out and love it! I will never again sail without a life vest and VHF radio on me! Our local friend pitched his Corsair 750 last night in the Long Island Sound, June 30th 2021! I squall caught him with the main up! A 60 mph gust send him into a full run. He pitched over and immediately lost contact with the Corsair. If he had no life vest and radio he thinks he would be dead today! And he's been sailing for 60 years. Bottom line, you drive with a seatbelt and sail with a life vest!

    It will be a treat watching you on this boat! I have been following the Corsair trimarans since they started with Ian Farrier in the mid 80s, They always built great boats, very fast with the introduction of the carbon models, and helped by very active and organized racing associations and good dealers on the east coast. While expensive, they hold their value over the years.

    Hey Billy, Massachusetts and Maine law provide for "fishing," "fowling," and "navigating" by individuals on private beaches. Many of the beach owners don't want you to know that, but you should look it up and educate your self. Where we vacation in Maine, this is a very controversial topic.

    Take a look at the Leech Lake Regatta in northern Minnesota (Walker, MN). We typically have a half dozen Corsairs racing. It's a giant inland lake - races are long and fun. I don't know about the 880, but I have an F-9A (31'). A couple feet extra in boat length means extra mast length, which all ads up in extra time for set up. An F9A/F31 is definitely harder to set-up than an F27 which is much harder to set-up than an F24/F25. It's so much easier to man-handle smaller parts.

      @@steveturansky9031 Steve looking at how far it was coming out of the water with 4 or 5 adults on board I would guess it could flip over if they weren't careful. How difficult is that going to be to self right with just Bill, Sierra and Jetty on board. Maybe not possible at all?

    • @steveturansky9031
      @steveturansky9031 4 роки тому +1

      @@tomwilliams8675 I don't think it's possible to self right but with powerboat assistance and flooding a hull you can. F-boats have a tremendously high righting moment, 39,000lbs for my F-9A, If I remember correctly.
      It's possible to flip it but you have to push it extremely hard and I don't think they were too close. Flat water would really be nice but I've only sailed in the ocean.
      I do know that John Walton flipped an F-27 in an ocean race but he made enough interest in an hour to replace the boat multiple times.

    F-boats are so fun to sail but there is alot going on when you hit the higher speeds and you have to be ready to move/act quickly. Shit happens real fast at 20+ knots.
    I built an F-9A (carbon over duracore) and launched in 1993 and it's the most exciting boat I've ever been on BUT, it's not a cruising boat. They're just not able to carry the weight needed for real cruising and then there's the dinghy storage issue. But for racing, weekend camping and daysailing, it's very hard to beat an F-boat.
    The faster trimarans are sort of the best of both worlds because they go upwind with some of the best monos and off the wind like a fast cat. Have fun zipping around and beating 99% of the sailboats out there.
    That being said, I want to cruise in the future so I'm looking for a cat soon.

    Very exhilarating boats to sail. I owned a Corsair 28 , the predecessor to your 880. Similar to you, I was into windsurfing and monohulls lost all appeal to me after picking up that sport, Ha. The Multihull Source are great people. Enjoy the effortless speed.
    The reason the water was reasonably warm where you were is because you were on the South side of the Cape. The Gulf stream runs up the coast (as Im sure you know) and hits the Cape which sort of redirects it offshore. If you jump in the water on the North Side of the Cape the water is freezing, like swimming off the coast of Maine freezing! Also, some of the best Windsurfing on the East coast is on the Cape. I suspect you’re long gone at this point though

    Just letting everyone know that may not know. During a storm if you put your electronics in a microwave oven they will be protected from static electricity because a microwave oven is a faraday cage that will not let static electricity in to damage your electronics from lightning
