  • The Femme Fatale is bold, beautiful, and bad to the bone. She's magnetic and seductive, but also makes society uncomfortable.

    A real femme fatale wouldn't give a damn about men lol. That's how you know it's a character created by men and not by women

      @@desaad8524 that doesn't mean that she has to give a damm about men tho. Also you could think of a bisexual or lesbian femme fatale, that would be interesting

    Femme fatales have always been my favorite, starting with Carmen SanDiego haha. I didn’t know she was the “villain” until a few years ago.

    I like the idea of the femme fatale, but they're often extremely male-focused. Like the only way to be bad is to flirt with men or try to take a man away from his lover or beat a man. It would be cool to see a character who's dangerous, sexy, but doesn't let her world revolve around men

      This is why I say most of you don't understand a troupe thinking it only limited to those few examples. Your saying you want sexy but dangerous woman who doesn't have to use their beauty and charm to get over on men but their are a lot examples out their. Like I said, Femme Fatale troupe doesnt always revolve around men it could mean using beauty and charm to gain influence with all around. Hell if you stop thinking the troupe revolves around men which isn't you would know the original troupe idea is a jab at men

      A “bipoc” femme fatale who aces the Bechdel test? Talk about Double Indemnity…

    • @yeethot6275
      @yeethot6275 22 дні тому

      @@BenHopkins1000 did I say bipoc? Or did you associate my comment with bipoc. My comment had nothing to do with race. Also, all characters of significance should pass the bechdel test, thats simply fundamental writing skills. I dont think its unrealistic or 'asking too much' (if thats what you think double indemnity means) to have strong female characters not be based around men. Women do not serve as compliments, accessories, or foils to men. Because we do not *serve* men. We are our own individuals, with seperate ideals and motivations, simple as that

      @@milliondoller06 I do understand tropes, enough to know its spelled t-r-o-p-e. An exception to a genre doesn't change the genre, and the unfortunate reality is that most popular femme fatales are largely centered around another male character, take for example catwoman (fixated on batman) or harley quinn (fixated on the joker)

    Awesome. I'm really enjoying these shorts. There's a decent dose of feminism in them. I'm learning a lot of things I hadn't noticed before. I don't think I knew the femme fatales were meant to be a baddie. I also didn't notice they have to change for a happy ending. A lot of films have a messed up idea of what a happy ending is anyway. This trope is a disturbing reflection on our society.

    I only write villains and the femme fatales don’t get these endings. They are the truest of femme fatales, glamorous, sociable, rotten to the core, and we see nothing wrong with that. They must not be punished.

    The best tropes are when
    1) The Femme Fatale doesn't need any man in her life because she's _super_ competent and better than the male protagonist in every conceivable way, but when a plot-impprtant conflict happens she's suddenly given the Stupid Virus so that she's beaten and the man saves her, usually resulting in rewarding him by getting laid
    2) The Femme Fatale has every reason to be the way she is given her history and is basically in the right, but rather than justifying her behavior or goals, the narrative frames her as a "broken bird" that the male protagonist can then "save" by way of "redeeming her"
    3) The Femme Fatale has every reason to be the way she is given her history and is basically in the right, but rather than justifying her behavior or goals, the narrative frames her as a villain and foil to an otherwise completely irrelevant female protagonist, and by her defeat, the "Ideal Woman" proves that being completely subservient in the face of extreme abuse and never getting angry at all is the only correct solution to trauma
    Sorry, did I say "best"? I meant most depressing
