She might be old school, but that 4Runner is a beauty!
This is as old school as you can get from Toyota!
JoshCraver9000 They better not change that either. The 4Runner actually had its best sales year ever last year.
Over priced
MelvinLopez Maybe so but its resale value is second to none.
Mr. Cairo They don’t sell that in America. But you are not wrong about that.
KentB27 Not quite. 1997 was the best year with 128,496 2017 was second best year ever at 1282xx. Glad to see it though.
I love how traditional and familiar the 4Runner is, especially having grown up with a Toyota Land Cruiser.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Nice to see an old school set up with body on frame, a simple gear selector, basic v6, and a physical key.
How right you are...I was surprised it had a power seat....so many cry that the Taco does not. 1st world problems...no power seat...babies i say
Mike Foehr good point. From what I notice, people that complain about stuff like don’t understand that utility is the primary purpose of a basic truck or old school SUV and if they they never grew up on them and had the chance to work on them, they tend to put convenience over reliability and function.
I’m a very big fan of those 4runners. I remember back a few years ago my dad was thinking about getting a 4Runner. We took one for a test drive and it was fun. It had a silver exterior with a black cloth interior. My dad told me a story back a long time ago my dad’s friend had the first generation 4Runner. He asked my dad if he can take care of it. My dad said yes and he really enjoyed driving that thing. Another thing that I love about the 4Runner is that it’s one of the only mid sized SUVs that remained body on frame. Some body mid size body on frame SUVs got discontinued and some switch to crossover unibody platforms.
Just rented one like this this(in red no doubt ) this past weekend for a road trip to Destin Florida (a free upgrade for them not having a Ford Escape that we reserved, I was stoked!) , great vacation vehicle, smooth on the road, kind of underpowered on the hills, but over a great vehicle. My wife was surprised that it wasn't push button start, I told her they haven't updated it yet , as you can tell by the interior, but it's cool enough. Didn't need the 4 x 4 but it's cool that it's there when needed . Just a great old fashioned solid truck.
Lovejazz01 Part of the reason they haven't updated is because there is literally no competition in this segment what so ever. The closet thing to this car in terms of construction (body on frame) and off road capabilities is the Jeep Wrangler which doesn't have anywhere near the reliability that this car has.
My dads 03 4runner is still running strong at 301k.
A refreshing vehicle to see, too many “mommy mobiles” aka “crossovers”.
TheWhiteProtector and, ground clearance, tires with a sidewall, and an honest to goodness 4wd shift lever.
This is a mommy mobile bruh. These days everything is especially in rich areas.
Kadeen Hunter My mom drives a 4 runner...
Saabkyle04 ron close my friend says toyotas run forever
Unfortunately this has turned into one of those too. I see them all the time driving around my town and it makes me sad that most of them will never see off roading
I’ve always found it interesting how loud the engine bay fan is on large Toyota vehicles (Tundra, Sequoia, 4Runner). Just a little interesting quirk I found.
Cameron Cruz my brother had an old 4Runner that always had loud fans when he started it. I always thought it was because they had clutch radiator fans but I could be wrong
It’s because it’s a mechanical fan. Sounds awesome.
Cameron Cruz I love the loud wosh the i-force v8’s make on start up of these trucks
Also listen for the engine tick. The VSV on the 1GR-FE Motors is loud as hell xD makes just as much noise as my 07 runner does!
Cameron Cruz it reminds me of my grandfather's old 1987 Mazda B-Series pickup. His had a really loud fan. Sounded like a semi when you accelerated haha
your voice just makes me happy.
I absolutely love my 2015 4runner trail edition!!!
Kyle. Love your in-depth reviews of all your cars!!!
Thank you Joe!
I love this SUV!
J'S_AWESOMECARS its a truck
If the prices were lower than I would definitely consider the 4Runner, especially the TRD-offroad.
Great review! Very thorough. Thanks. One of the better reviews of the 4Runner. Keep it up!
Saabkyle04 you're great! I like to watch your vídeos are always magnific!!! Like!
I wanted him to a review about the 4Runner and finally he did it.
I love toyotas
I love them so much is all I will buy.
Kyle, while you were driving, on the left side of the instruments, a green light keeps coming on and off, what was it? I like your reviews and you have a voice that is easy to listen to. Brilliant.
Thanks George! It's an "Eco" light, basically letting you know how economical you're driving.
Thanks mate, I just found it a little annoying but, that's just me :)
You can disable the eco light in the settings :) it is very annoying for sure
She's a beauty
odzadze123 I said that because my best friend dad pasted in a 4Runner and he was like a second dad
odzadze123 yeah it's fine
Yo! Its been a while since the last time you made videos about 4runner👌🏼. Great vid though! Keep it up
Thanks man!!
and here we see why Toyota is one of the best car brands ever
so very true
Hey. Saabkyle Nice to see you ♡
Excellent video
Tech inside needs to catch up with the Tacoma and Camry
That color is actually called Nautical Blue on this 4runner, Calvary Blue is the special TRD Pro color for 2018.
Yes, you're right, I was confused by the options, my mistake.
What a nice video Kyle.
Another thorough review, thanks!
They should make it an option to have the 4.6l v8
Axion use to be an option
That would be super interesting....would give the 4runner some real kick
Not quite. The previous generation had a 4.7-liter V8 available.
Kind of wish Toyota can bring back the V8 4Runner! Nothing beats a naturally aspirated Toyota V8 in smoothness, refinement, and low RPM torque delivery.
Great video as always!
I like all your review. Love to see you review a tundra
I finally have a vehicle you did a review on 2018 TRD off-road premium..
My mom loves those newer Toyota 4Runners
Great video as usual, but the ride height of the TRD Off Road is exactly the same as the SR5, and that color isn't Cavalry Blue.
That's not the calvary blue, that Calvary blue is only available on the TRD Pros
finally someone realized that.
Sterling Posey question is will he fix it?
just about to comment this but then saw your comment haha
if they didn’t change the name of the colors, this is the same as my 16 trail premium, which is in nautical blue.
Sorry about that, I realized that after the fact, I got confused when looking at the options. I can't fix it after the fact, it is what it is at this point.
This is a Proper car.
Old school and out dated yet the 4runner is still a thing of beauty
This 4Runner proves large rims isn't the only way to make the wheels look good.
Why do so many people that do reviews on this 4 Runner have no clue that they are mis-labeling the vehicle? This is NOT a TRD OFF ROAD!!! This is a TRD OFF ROAD..... PREMIUM!!!! THERE ARE DIFFERENCES PEOPLE!!!!! If you are going to put up these video's that are appreciated, why can't you tell the difference between the Premium and and the regular? This label makes it sound like the regular. This is a PREMIUM. Look into it. ;)
When do you think you can do the 2018 Lincoln Navigator?
Stunning I want it 👍
COOL 2018 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off Road: Start Up, Test Drive & In Depth Review
An interior update would make this mint
s Smit The interior is fine, could use a new infotainment system though.
Saabkyle04 toyota 4runner is known as hilux surf in Japan.
All things in this suv same land cruiser prado 🤗 , Thanks for review .
Old school! The 4Runner's only real competitor is the Jeep Wrangler!
dude please do a tour of the Toyota previa
I've always wanted to film one of the supercharged ones, but they're super rare. Haven't seen one in quite a long time. None of my dealership contacts would likely ever carry one either.
Honestly can’t wait to get rid of my 4th Gen for something like this
I like its simplicity
So nice.
Cool video
The 4Runner
When you want a REAL SUV that tackles obstacles without much of an issue
Hood and scoop look almost like my 13 Taco. I wish my hood had hydraulic struts. This V6 makes more power than my V6 in my Tacoma
I think this colour is Nautical Blue Metallic, Calvery Blue is more of flat lighter blue than this. Unless Toyota renamed the colour but kept it the same, which they have been known to do. i.e Natural White - Super White and Attitude Black - Midnight Black.
Yes, you're right, I was confused by the options, my mistake.
My 13 Taco is Royal Nautical Blue...I like it
i just got mine today
Kyle, will you be making a video on the 2018 Accord?
I don't have a solid Honda contact right now so not likely. We'll have to see how things go over the next few months, I'm overloaded with content at the moment.
This guys great
We had the 2019 model as a one way to the airport
Correction: colour of this 4Runner in this video is Nautical Blue.
Calvary Blue is exclusive only to the TRD Pro model
My bad, I realized that afterward, I was confused haha.
When will there be a new Toyota 4Runner?
Please do review on "2018 Jeep Wrangler JL". Thank you :)
Go for the TRD Pro instead. Worth the extra cost.
I like it
More classic cars and trucks
Love to see. How are u doing on the 69 chevelle
4Runner TRD Off-Road "Let's Go Places."
I think that’s “Nautical” blue as opposed to “Cavalry” blue.
Do u have the viper still, Kyle?
I'm pretty sure he sold it.
I sold it last fall
Saabkyle04 Awww that blows :( I liked that car. Whats next?
The older trd rims were much prettier, I’m not crazy about the faceted look
Is that the 4Runner that Doug reviewed?
No, that one was a TRDpro
Diecast Cars Garage you are so stupid
Matthew Tyler, dude it’s just a joke, take it easy
1:45 This isn't Cavalry Blue. That color is reserved for the TRD Pro.
Several people have pointed that out, I made a mistake when looking at the options.
Got it. I got in early but I'm sure many others after me noticed. Good video and good work.
0:38-0:45 Startup
Soon the fortuner will be the one running on American streets
I like this generation of 4Runner but it needs a redesign. I think Toyota can build a better, more modern version.
Start Up 0:46
Engine 0:56
Exhaust 1:06
Can you make a Video from the bmw m6 e63 Coupe?
Please it is so good
ua-cam.com/video/LH6F3UUw3ZY/v-deo.html
All New Fortuner Please :D
Very nice but these can run north of $50,000. I can’t imagine spending that kind of money on a regular SUV.
absolutely not. i payed $33.5 + tax title etc for a brand new 2018 silver 4runner TRD off road.
In Canada they are $48+
It's not a regular SUV, all that money goes towards it superior 4 wheel drive and the frame construction. All the other crossovers/SUVs have AWD and unibody construction. Also unlike most Toyota products this is still manufactured in Japan.
can u add a extra row?
0:46
0:56
1:06
You're welcome
Can you do the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Redline or High Country please
I got exited thinking it was the RAV4. But great video nevertheless.
Chris Dircio The 4Runner is way better than a RAV4.
Chris Dircio kyle has never done a rav4 of any generation, now that i think of it.
No, I haven't. I don't have a solid Toyota contact so whatever I do will likely be borrowing one from a dealer, like this one.
This is way better than the Rav4 or any crossover for that matter.
My mom has this car
Can you review the Benz X Pick Up ?
Roman 8304 it's not available in the US yet
Steven Houck really ? Lol😂i see so much X‘s in Europe but it‘s just a Nissan Navara with a Benz Logo
Roman 8304 lol at least here in Canada we don't even have the that gen Nissan Navara (Frontier here). We still have the old one that came out in 2004 lol
Hamilton Dashcammer for real ?! 😂😂😂 yes but Canada is boring. But you can import the X oder 2017 Navara. But the X is 80% Navara
better watch out on PIB
does it have remote start
Michael Velotti it's an option.
My wife tells me her RAV4 has remote start...she send me out in the winter to start her car
Tacoma much?... but no these 4Runners are badass. Wish the Land Cruiser was more prominent though
Why we don't have this in Europe ?:(
you do. its the land cruiser prado j150
It's not. The land cruiser prado is labeled here as just land cruiser.
If u want the original land cruiser u have to import it from Russia or U.A.E :D
The 4runner is a prado underneath, just a different body for the most part
rainbowofcheese that's right. But the 4Runner looks better
It does, and it has a hatch on the back instead of the big ass door like the prado
Can someone please tell me what SR5 stands for on theses trucks? I know TRD is Toyota racing devision, but I’m stumped on SR5
Joseph Linz It doesn’t really stand for anything. SR5 is just the base level trim on the 4Runner. It’s basically what the XL or XLT trim is to Ford.
talldude123 You are right. SR5 is confusing though. On the 4Runner and Tundra SR5 is the base trim but on the Tacoma there is an SR trim that is one step down from the SR5. Kind of like the XL trim on Ford trucks.
Sports Rally 5
It means Sport Rally 5 [Speed]. It was used back as the top trim with the optional 5 speed manual [opposed to 4 speed].
You are right
Says "In Depth"...only 12 minutes of footage.
Pretty sure the current generation grand Cherokee can tow 6200
I honestly didn't cross reference that one, but yes, that would technically compete with this too. Thanks for chiming in!
no problem! I guess since it's not body on frame the Jeep Wrangler would be a closer cross reference. Just know I cross shopped the 4runner against the JGC Trailhawk. Great video as always though Kyle!
Dodge Durango it's not a midsize SUV it's a full size man
I want you to go to doing a few section 1st person perspective and less narration.
👍
💖💕💜💌❣
Aww, no offroad test drive?
This was a brand new vehicle I had to borrow from a dealership, so no lol. I'd have to get a press vehicle for that, which I don't have a solid relationship with at this moment. You gotta make the best of the opportunities presented to you.
It’s 2018 and it doesn’t have Push Button 😒 my 2016 4Runner has Push button..
Chaos Zombie999 push button is for bitches
your 16' 4 runner has a push button. how did you get that installed?
j burggg after market 😔
Elisante M I later sold my 4Runner and bought a limited:)
Toyota tocoma trd spot
If anyone is a good mechanic could you guys help me!!
It’s technically a truck
NateCarVideos88 Yes it uses the same platform as the Tacoma. The Land Cruiser and Sequoia use the same platform as the Tundra.
Toyota isn't anymore a japanese car in the US market
Paul Stark Toyota 4runners are still put together in Japan in Toyotas Tahara plant in Aichi Japan. Same goes for the Land Cruiser, the Sequoia, and their Lexus variants.
