- The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the death of Deundray Cottrell, whose body was found in a shed two days after he went missing July Fourth. Police have named Julian Morris, Cottrell's partner, a person of interest. Cottrell's siblings Angelica and Timothy joined NewsNation's "Banfield" on Tuesday night to discuss the latest details in the investigation. According to Timothy, police told his family that Cottrell died from strangulation.

This doesn’t make sense. If D feared for his life, he would have just run to safety-to his family in the front of the house or to a neighbor’s house screaming help. He didn’t do that. He shed his clothes and took off running. Sounds like he got hold of a bad drug.

My first thought was that he wanted to dump that boyfriend -- they probably weren't getting along and the boyfriend probably gave him some real strong drug in his drink -- something to make him really freaked out bad , maybe something like Salvia .
And I think is it possible that he didn't jump out the window but that he was pushed out and of course the boyfriend was nonchalant and eating because he didn't care ... because he knew they weren't going to be together anymore and we don't know who caught up with Deundray ; we don't know if it was the boyfriend but my god the fact that he died by being strangled ?

... police need to interview the neighbors of the couple since they were probably living together and they need to interview other dancers that worked with them . I'll bet you there's lots of stories of the boyfriend being abusive to poor Deundray who is no longer alive .
I hope the truth comes out as to what really happened and that Deundray and his survivors have Justice .

They just said he was strangulated - he was clearly running away and the bf probably took a path after Deondre that avoided cameras. He was clearly acting weird. Most loving partners would be worried, crying, and actively helping to search. He just went back to a table to finish eating and didn’t do anything after that. That’s suspicious behavior right there. He was also apparently in the house and made a weird announcement that his bf jumped out a window. Plus, if you’re not guilty of something, you don’t run from the cops - you come in to talk to the police to explain what happened even if you want to lawyer up. Things don’t add up to a normal response by the bf, so they named him a person of interest- doesn’t mean he’s a suspect or that he did anything, but most people who are innocent of wrongdoing wouldn’t run away from the cops, and surely wouldn’t behave the way he did immediately after the fact. Would you calmly go finish dinner instead of searching and trying to help like the rest of his family?

@@daniharr3278 very difficult case because allegedly they were alone in the home together for approximately 1 hour. Allegedly, No fam members walked in on them within that approx hour. They will need to obtain both BF’s 📱 & all electronics, etc. This will allow investigators to really understand the individuals, their lifestyle & the type of relationship that the truly had behind closed doors. A true mystery! 😢

the brother said they later figured out why he was jumping fences but didnt tell the host why (what they figured out) and the host didnt ask him why? was he being chased by the boyfriend? this is strange so he was gone inside the house for an hour before they noticed he hadnt come back outside, they went in and the boyfriend was acting strange and said Deuntray ran away and all of this took place jumping fences. unaliving etc within an hour? did him and the boyfriend go their together from ATL? they just said Deun went in to check on the dogs no mention initially of the boyfriend being there. this is the strangest family telling of events and host questioning. RIP to Deun and condolences to the familiy i hope the person is brought to justice.

If we’ve learned anything from murder cases, we’ve learned not to speculate until the investigators provide more details. Some of the comments show that people apparently don’t know that. A lot does seem weird because we only have bits and pieces. Let’s just wait until the facts have been given to us before making assumptions. Julian on the run is a huge red flag and Deundray being found strangled in a shed behind an abandoned house is very suspicious to say the least. I’m going to follow this story. I would like to know what happened.
So did the boyfriend find him later and kill him? Because according to the sequence of events in the beginning, he couldn't have done it at that time. Or did he chase after him at that time, but was not captured by the Ring cameras. Cornered him at the shed. Murdered him. Calmly walked back into the house. Walked out into the front/backyard to join the family. Then told them what they say he told them?

The family for whatever reason is not being honest. I believe investigators know that and just allowing them to continue digging themselves in a deeper hole. None of it makes sense, the only reason Julian is a suspect is because the family framed it that way.
They had only been there for a few hours before all of this happened. This was Deaundray first time visiting the sister in Birmingham, AL, Julian is from NJ and had never been to the home. There is absolutely no way they would know the neighborhood that well at night for all this to have taken place. Furthermore, why would Dre not run to his family instead of running away from the home?
Why would Julian have felt so comfortable to stay in the family home after all this had taken place?
According to the news report, the vehicle they drove to AL is still at the sisters home.. so that means Julian would have left on feet, so there should have been some footage of him walking off.
Lastly, none of the siblings really seem emotional.
He was probably so calm because he saw this man jump out a window and start running away. It sound weird because it is. If he stayed and ate, how could he be the killer?
Also, he went to check on the dog because of the noise but no one check on him for over a hour.
