@@Thelaststitch I sewed some stretch garments many years ago (like 30ish) using 'Stretch and Sew' patterns. It is now time to jget back into it especially for my handicapped daughter who has Guilliane Bare which causes extreme skin sensitivity. I am excited to have education on the new fabrics available and up to date techniques.

My closet fabric stash is full of knits. I have spent a lot of time searching for books on patternmaking and sewing of knits. Your book is going to be a huge asset for me. I have enjoyed and learned so much from watching your videos. I applaud all your work and your future work. I know first hand how hard it is to spend the time and energy it takes to produce the books you have already written.

Can’t wait to see the book! I am relatively new to sewing knits and using a serger. I have had some success and a few fails. What you showed of the book looks very helpful. I think for me the biggest problem is matching the right fabric to the right pattern, especially since I mostly have to buy fabric online. Many of your videos have been very helpful to me already.
Thank you for sharing your experience with knits, yes sewing with these fabrics sure does come with a learning curve, especially when as you say making the right fabric choices and using the best methods for each fabric type

I didn't word my question clear enough on the live stream so I thought I would just add it here. I am hoping that in addition to adjustments like an FBA (i actually have to do SBAs) the new book will cover sewing for post mastectomy bodies. Many women choose not to have reconstructive surgery and are either flat or had a single mastectomy. There are other considerations as well as the bust adjustment and ensuring necklines don't gape, you can see examples if you look for the #sewingflat or asymestrical hashtags. I have just started to learn about this for a friend that has gone through it. Best wishes on the book writing! You always have great information to share. Thanks for the opportunity to provide some possible topics for the book.

@@Thelaststitch Thanks for considering this topic. I think having adaptive sewing adjustments included in your book would be appreciated by a lot of people. The podcast Sew Organized Style has a few episodes on this topic (both around breast cancer and other issues) that would give you more information. I'm just learning about it myself.

I am excited to read your book. I have sewn knits before they became a popular fabric, when there were only double knits. It's so exciting to hear about your collaboration; what a perfect match!
Thank you Sage, that means a lot to hear. Yes knits has come such a long way in the last few decades, and it's hard to keep up with all the new skills and knowledge required.
Very exciting, can't wait. I would be most interested in how to adjust a pattern for different amounts of stretch. For example, if you have a pattern that you have altered for a great fit and then you want to sew with another fabric that has less stretch; what changes would be appropriate? Size up? Add to side seams? As you know, there is a wide range of stretch and recovery for different fabrics and knowing how to adjust is difficult. Thanks.
Thank you for the great suggestions! We plan to do a primer on this with suggestions on how to measure and calculate for different fabrics, within a range of course. If there is to big a difference one might need to use another pattern to get the fit right

Good presentation. Will there be any explanation or references in the book to fitting clothes on men? How to adjust patterns for men's bodies? Men bodies can be overweight with a big stomach to where material simply hangs on and below the stomach with no shape other than looking like a big hanging drape/curtain. Some men are extra tall like six foot and five inches. Therefore clothes need to be lengthened.
Hello Phelan, thank you so much for asking about this. The answer is yes! We have from the start made a conscious effort to make this book inclusive and not only geared towards women (which many fitting books are). Both when it comes to the content in the tutorials and how the book will be illustrated.

I am so disappointed that I was too late to participate but if you see this could you include how to embellish knits. I like to sew for my children and grandchildren and embellishment is a must. I need to be able to make the things more stylish for them. I would also appreciate how best to include pockets that stretch and recover well. My grandsons play a lot of tennis and have to be able to put extra balls in their pockets and have the pocket return to shape. Their coach wants large pockets.
More specific sewing techniques are outside the scope of this book, but one day I would love to do a book all about sewing with knits and those are great suggestions for that book!

I’m really struggling with my coverstitch settings while neck binding on super thin and stretchy bamboo jersey knit. The stitch looks nice but it’s not feeding well and can’t figure out if I should try serging or basting to help? I’ve played with pressure foot knob and differential and seeing the same issue. Thanks in advance!!!
Hi Michelle, I don't have a cover stitch machine, but I make men's bamboo boxers quite often. Maybe if you spray startch seam allowances and let dry before hand? My serger has no problem feeding bamboo, but I have gotten it stuck in the sewing machine plate before I learned not to start from the very edge. lol 🤣😂

It would be great if you showed us how to correct issues.
I would love to see some guidance on how much to adjust the pattern for the different type fabric. I know that the ultimate fit is based on personal preference but having a general guideline based on the amount of stretch, weight of fabric, and 2 or 4-way stretch. I have not found a guide on this yet. It is all trial and error ..l there should be more guidelines on this one.

I thought it very interesting when I bought the briar T-shirt by Megan Nielsen and both armholes are the same. It made no sense to me.
Yes, that is something we have seen a bit and Malena is very clear on that, for best fit and movement, the front and back armhole and cap should be different on knits
