- Lets go rockhounding in this Minnesota creek (I think it's a river actually) for some beautiful minerals. We found a lot of strange looking stuff, and had a strange encounter with another rockhound.. I think it was that Rookie Rockhounding guy.. Check his channel out, / crazycrazysillyfresh
P.S. Make sure to check out the end of the video, I stop at another creek to do some scouting and we found some really great agate indicators, let me know if you think I should head back to that creek soon!
THANKS FOR WATCHING EVERYONE :)

Thanks for watching 😁 don't forget to subscribe to help support our channel! Make sure to stick around for the end to see some exciting finds from another creek! Also, be sure to checkout Rookie Rockhounding - ua-cam.com/users/CrazyCrazySillyFresh 👍👍
Haha! Dude don’t you just love when you create a UA-cam channel just to be able to comment and then 10 years later you decide to make videos and change the channel name but it stays with the old one in all the links 😂🤣🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😖
“Crazy crazy silly fresh!”?!? What was I thinking bahaha!
Thanks for the shout out brother, love working with you anytime man. You’re genuinely like a brother to me dude. Keep makin the raddness!!!!!!!!
Haha i always wondered why that url name 🤣 but somehow it never came up on our chats! And same to you man, absolute brothers, and it was so fun working with you on that little bit, anytime..anywhere! Thanks for helping our viewers get a chuckle today!
That guy at the beginning talks funny. I'd go to the other side of the river to avoid him if I was you.
Thats totally what happened 😳
Nah, you'd all be comparing finds! 😀
Lol!
Haha did not expect to see Rookie! Had to do a double take I was on the right channel
Hahahaha I was hoping it would throw some people off in that way!
Agate Dad ditto 🤣🤣🥰🏴
🤣
Exactly lol
same here... lol
Haha! Agate Father. Logan & I had to double check we were watching the right video at first. Great spots! Logan’s says go back to that second creek!
Hahaha love that! I figured it would throw people off a bit if it started with Rookie! Oh I will for sure 👍
Beautiful stones and even better with you two together.
I like your videos.
Super fan of Brazil !!
Thanks!
Thank you for this beautiful video. Just seeing the creeks in Minnesota in spring is a gift, and watching another rockhound sift joyfully through the rocks is another gift. No North Shore for us this summer--so you are doing this "work" for many of us. Please return to the new creek--and happy hunting. These videos bring much joy during the lockdown.
I'm so sorry you aren't able to get up here...really saddens me 🥺 I wish you could so bad! I am glad I can help in a little way by sharing these videos, whats your favorite place to go? Maybe I can make a video in that spot 🤗
@@AgateDad you are so kind. I love the Baptism River at the mouth, in Tettagouche. Sometimes it's crowded, but several times I've been there in the rain all alone. There are blue agates. Also, all the shoreline east and north of Grand Marais. We'll be back next summer, but seeing any video from there is so lovely. Thank you.
Well that beautiful river I believe is in a state park...but i go up to grand marais once a monthish..so maybe send me an email and we can share some info more privately on locations lol 😉
@@AgateDad ok. I'll send an email. You can go down a staircase to the beach at Tettagouche.
👍
Well HECK yeah, that second creek looks so promising & pretty much demands further inspection!!
We will go back and get it done!!
That is REALLY social distancing between you and that stranger with dark glasses. LMAO . What could be better than a beautiful setting and nice hunting. Havagudun my friend.
Yeah how weird was that?... lol 😆 😉 it was a great way to spend the morning!
First thing I thought was “holly molly, he’s shaved his head “ , 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥰🏴great video, thanks for sharing guys 👋
Hahaha thats great!
Yeah, totally go back to the second place! Looks like it could be pretty promising!
Thats what im thinking!!
Excellent opening! Who'd a thunk you'd find an Aussie in the woods of Minnesota! And without a hat no less! 🤣 Must be a rookie.
I'm going to have a hard time now whenever I see or think of rebar. It will forever be rhubarb.
There is no question that you need to return to that creek of treasures. Can't wait until you do! I'm so glad you found some prehnite so we could see it in the host rock. Thank you for taking us on another beautiful adventure. The creek and surroundings are gorgeous.
Haha same here with rebar! How silly was that 🤣 I'm so excited to get back to that creek!
And thank you for coming alont :)
love to find rocks, thanks for taking me along
Thanks for joining Mark!
Ok, you and Rookie crack me up!!! Beautiful location!! That river waterfall is a stunner. And yeah you have to go back where the agates live!
Haha I'm glad we gave you a laugh! I'll for sure be going back!
Yes!! Another great video. You found a couple great indicators.
Appreciate that man, can't wait to get back!
Awesome finds, and beautiful creek
Thanks bud!
At first I thought I clicked on a different video, then realized I hadn't. Agate Dad plus Rookie Rockhounding, that's an awesome combo.
Haha we thought it would be a funny bit for people, i was like I bet it throws people off a bit 😅
Well, that was fun. I've been following you and the Rookie since the beginning. Had me scratching my head for a minute. Wouldn't it be cool if you could each go hounding
with the other in their territory. That beautiful creek turned my thoughts to photography. Of course, lets hound that new creek you found. Thanks for a great video to go with my morning coffee.
It would be very cool if we could go hounsing together someday! It would be a great creek for photography, so kany beautiful little areas that would be amazing! Thanks for joining in and thanks for the great comment Tim 😀👍👍
You find the most beautiful locations! Love the interesting stuff you found!❤😊
Lol...that intro was just awesome 👏🏼, cool 😎 seeing The Rookie from down undah! 😂 great finds on that second creek, definitely go back. 👍🏼
I hope to soon! Haha glad you enjoyed it! How have you been out west?
Agate Dad Can’t wait for next vid. The West is hot and wild. And I’m going crazy not holding a nice rock for a long time. Find myself talking to my babies(my rocks) and telling them how beautiful they are. Hubby is busy and he won’t let me go to the mountains alone bec LA is just crazy, and your videos and the rest of the rockhounding community is my escape from reality. Also, I’m still having cold feet on publishing my rockhounding videos. I may need 3 margaritas to finally have the guts to make it happen 🤪
@@maiguapa8 do it! Do it! You just gotta post it!!!
Agate Dad ok, I will find me 3 mango margaritas this weekend 😂
@@maiguapa8 🤣👍👍
LOL, I thought I had clicked onto the wrong video with Rookie! Enjoy your hunting!
Hahaha yes! That's hilarious 😆 thanks!
Awwwwww. Was super excited to see him over here! Lol. Still a very cool intro. Haha.
Haha I'm glad!
😂👍🏼-thought I was watching rookie rockhounding for a quick second
Haha that's awesome 👌
Agate papi always going at it! Love the indicators! You definitely have to go back to that creek! Love the rookie intro too. Cheers!
Haha agate papi! Hilarious 😅 can't wait to get back there!
The most scenic creek location you've found! Beautiful images. That banded Jasper and that last big red stone would make some nice polished slabs. Hope the other creek produces for you.
It really is a beautiful location, im hopeful it is too!
For the first moment I was like "What? Rookie's looking for LSA ??" ha-ha , cool :) Beautiful creeks and waterfalls. We are going to Lake Superior MI tomorrow - cant' wait!
Yeah I thought that was funny, that was all rookie haha! Let me know how your adventure goes!!
Good finds and a really nice creek watch out for those copper headed water moccasins and the rattlebugs
We don't have those up here in Minnesota, not sure about rattle bugs though
Jesse and Taylor, you crazy kids... :D
🤪
Where there's a lot of footprints, a sifting scoop is the only way to go. You found some rare ones!!!!!
True that!
Great video, loved the beginning! 😂 I can't wait to see what you find next time you go back to that second creek!
Ohhh me too!! Going to be awesome!
Agate Dad you found a hot-spot! ;)
I think so too!
Sure go back!! Great scenery and nice finds!
Fo sho! Planning on it 👍
Great, Fun, intro!! Made me channel check... lol
"Agate Father" just about caused another caffeinated spray, keyboard baptism!! Rookie Rockhounding almost got me again!! lmao
@3:33 That looks a lot like a couple of rocks that I found on the bank of the Mississippi River. They had everyone stumped, even my normally awesome rock shop guy(Jimmie from Honey Creek Gems in Davenport, IA). I finally took them to the Geology Dept. at Augustana College. They told me that they were "Fragmented Agate". To the best of their knowledge, these occur when a partially filled basalt agate vesicle(basically an agate geode at this stage) is broken/crushed and then filled in with quartz or more agate/chalcedony afterward. And, I discovered that they take a great polish.
Hope this helps a little.
Another great video...
Again, Thanks for sharing...
And, as always, Good Luck, Have Fun, and Keep on Houndin'...
Steve
Haha Steve, I'm so glad you didn't give your keyboard a wash!! So cool about those finds!!
You were in some beautiful country today! Yesss, please go back to the second river again. I cannot wait to see what’s waiting to be discovered.
Ohhhhhh me too! Going to be great either way!
That piece of Jasper is going to be gorgeous!
Is really is a stunner!
Yes of course come back!!!
Have to double take what I was watching, lol. Awesome views of creek. Must be so calming and relaxing out there?
Great intro! Love you guys...you rock!
Awe thanks so much!! You rock too 🤟
Vicariously I love it
Hahaha good on both ya! Love you guys! Great video! What fun!
Awe thanks so much Lawanda!!
God, my favorites rockhounders together? Such a nice surprise!!!
Ohhh I wish! Just ran into him 😉
LOL!! Great Intro!! I love both of you guys!! The rock you found at 3:30 looks to be a septarian nodule! Very cool!!
Haha thanks 😊
The agate community is great and you guys find some pretty ones up there . Happy hunting men and be safe
It sure is!
AWESOME video.
No other words required. Great to see you two together, even remotely
Hahah it was fun! Thanks so much OKR!!!
Definitely have to come back !!! Thanks!!!
Will do, thanks for watching Ayda!
Your knowledge of these rocks is impressive! You’re finding some cool stuff!
Thanks! I'm alwaus trying to increase my knowledge so I can better relay the info in the videos!
Love the creek scenery
I'm glad :)
Go for it in the prospective new spot. Looks like such fun!
It really does doesn't it?!
Very awesome rocks
Thanks Wayne!! Appreciate you coming along!
Thats so cool lol I watch you both!
Thank you!!
What a beautiful creek. Loved the waterfalls. I would like to see you come back to that spot and see what else you can find!
The first or second spot?? Either way, yes!
@@AgateDad I would say the 2nd place, but the first one was really beautiful.
It really is, ill try to go back to both eventually:)
Being new I always learn something with your videos!
Glad j could help!!
This was fun , Yes indeed go back
Yes! Go back!!! 😁
Will do!! Hopefully soon!
I am living vicariously through you! Living in the cities there aren't as many places to hunt. Thank you for what you do!
Oh that makes these videos and adventures even more special! Thanks for sharing that!
Hysterical!!🤣💜
😉
Love this video Taylor, I also like rookie Rockhounding
Guys a champ 🏆
Another great video love the scenery I really miss living in a place like that. Do check out that other creek looks like it might be a good place.
Thats what I'm thinking too, hopeful for some good treasurea out of it! Thanks for watching 😁
Yes!!!! Please come back
The first creek is incredibly beautiful; what an eyeful of inspiration. Just watching it on video made me feel so alive and energized. Thank you 😀. The second creek does look very promising. Who knows what you’ll find in addition to agates? It looks like a fun adventure.
Exactly my thoughts, when you fins good agate indicators, it sets the stage for the fact that you are going to find other minerals that are in the quartz family!
Freaking awesome!!!!
Thanks man!
Definitely come back to the creek
I went back 🤗
I'm from Indoensia, here we have a lot of stone like that, but I enjoy your video , keep goin dude ...
Appreciate that so much! I will!
Omg, how fun. I luv the opening because I started my rockhound watching with Rookie Rockhounding aka Frookie. Luv you guys! Of course that means I know he’s in Australia 😉 Thanks to the #TheFinders I now enjoy many of you. Check out Katydid mail call from a viewer. P.S. was that Star Wars sound effects when you saw the concrete with the holes at 8:16. It doesn’t matter how much you find, the location was beautiful. Thanks for taking us along with you.
Thanks! Nahhh he time warped up here for a bit 😉 so glad #TheFinders has helped you find more channels!! Makes me so happy! It was just me but now that I think about it...sounds like it! My inner love for star wars came out there I guess!
@@AgateDad I recognized it immediately because I am married to what I thought was the biggest Star Wars fan of all time. Apparently there are many more out there 😊
Oh there's a whole fleet of us lol you may notice a chewbacca bobble head in the back of some of ny videos!
Nice place my friend
Thanks!
You have a beautiful smile... Smile more often. Thank you for sharing your experiences by picking up agates.
Have you been talking to my wife?! Lol ill try to 😊 thanks for coming along!
Jajaja my friend, I'm not flirting, she also has a beautiful smile and your baby is a candy. 😁
I can be your granny! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I love the places you go for the stones. It's really the place. Thanks again. A big hug for you and your family. 🤗
Oh i never took what you said as flirting lol
Great job on the new creek Agate Dad! I'm a master of creek rock hounding as a trout fisherman. I've got a couple of great spots in Carlton County to show you this summer/Fall. Will be up on the shore in Mid-august and again mid-September. Let's make it happen. I'll email you this summer. You won't have a better day catching trout and finding agates on the same stream. Booyah!
Great vid. Someday you guys will get to meet. Thanks!
Thanks and I sure hope so!
To agate dad...for river hunting with all that sediment.......would some kind of mini push broom help get that off while still in the water? Love watching you hunt rocks.
I thought that exact thing...but when I try rubbing the algea off its all stubborn and just stayed put.. i wish though! Thanks for watching Rose!
Hahahaha! That was truly funny!
Thanks so much!
That is the best opening!!
You know you might have a problem when you dream of rocks. Thanks for the videos. I haven’t been out for a while.
Hahah! I actually have had dreams of finding insane agates!
Yes go back!!!!!
At first I thought Rookie was really in the states and I was so excited lol
Oh gosh! Sorry lol just a little joke
@@AgateDad all is good. I enjoyed the vid.!
Ah shweet, thanks!
Rivers are tough. I have a gold prospecting sifter(classifer). I'll shovel some in, wash and see what pops out. Agates and jaspers are heavier and will drop out of the current sooner. Check the beginning of inside bends.
Great Great Great info!! 👍 thank you for that!
What a beautiful creek and I would love to know what was going on in the past with those concrete blocks and boreholes
I wish I could find a deep history of the north shore book, someday when the library opens back up ill look for one.
Woah that insect at 5:20 was cool.
Right?! Ive never seen an insect that looks like that in my life! I felt bad intruding on its sunbathe
Yes, you have to go back!
We will!!
Oh ya you gotta go back there. I have some rocks i had no idea what they were but you found a few of the same and said what they were. Thats awesome. Thanks for taking us along .
Thanks for coming! Its hard identifying sometimes, I still struggle with ID
@@AgateDad I still plan on buying a book or 2 from your site. Im slowly learning.
No rush! Me too 😊
Well it looks like I found way more agates then I thought on our camping trip. Still not done sorting them all. Nothing like your banded beauty's but still beautiful to me.
Its not just about the bands 😊 the adventure and having fun is whats most important
HAHA, this is a great video.
Thanks!!!
Ah ha! Funny guys...I thought my phone was playing up😛 Certainly are nice spots. Bit yeah definitely go back. 👍
Hehe 😁 will go back for sure!
What l use for water is a 2 liter bottle with a little hole drilled in the cap. When finished replace the drilled hole cap with a cap with no hole. The bottle can double as your drinking water. Added benefit no spray mechanism to break...500ml bottles work great aswell. And they aren't so big and cumbersome.
Thanks for the awesome tips!!
Two of our favorite rookies who are bound to get into trouble with the DNR when those goofballs from the DNR watch this video and accuse the rookies of transplanting eucalyptus trees on the North Shore.
Hahaha don't tell!!!
Now I want to call you Father Agate after that intro 😇
I'm cool with it 😎
Haha!!!! Dude honestly, we are the best actors. 🤣😂 man it’s made me wish I could be out there with ya! One day brother, one day 👊
Man that is a tough creek to hound, the algae and sediment are like the arch nemesis of all hounds but you got beauties dude! My fav is definitely 9:52 what a mineral masterpiece. And sometimes it’s just about figuring out what minerals are in what creeks. You’re learning the area dude and gettin er done!
In saying that, holy heck that second creek is lookin like it’s got treasures galore! Can’t wait man!
Rookie Rockhounding I hope you do get to visit the states and join some local rock hounds! What fun that will be!
Haha maybe we should get into acting! For sure man, one day 👍 there was some really unique finds which was fun! But yeshh...that second creek is going to be solid!!! Hopefully!
How amazing would that be?!?!
Nice place. You are lucky not to have a bazillion mosquitoes and water moccasins! 😅
Well no snakes....the mosquitos are going to be here soon!
4:58 is what I call quasper - quartz + jasper.
I love that name! I'm needing to do some serious binging by the way Kate! 😅😉
Maybe carry a small broom to sweep that underwater sediment off and it would even double as a walking stick?
I think the best way to describe that gunk was algea, which is hard to get off, for sediment, that would be a great idea!!
Hi Taylor, what was that creature at the start of the video, is that one of things you guys call a " Bigfoot" .
We have something similar here in Australia, it's called a "Yowie", Jees they are not an attractive creature are they, you know all big and hairy, strange black eyes, flaring nostrils, wow, that's what we sometimes refer to as a real " house haunter" 😂😂😂
Anyway that is a nice looking creek, some nice finds there as well, looks like a good one for jasper pieces. The second creek you went too looks like it will produce quite a few pieces if you found that many in short amount of time. What would you come across if you spent a day there. Of course your going back there, crazy not to.
As for that creature at the start of the video, maybe you should forward that bit of vid to the " Bigfoot Channel" over your way there always looking for evidence of these rather mystique creatures. They are always trying to catch them so they can be examined, probed prodded and experimented on.
Bye the way if your in contact with Rookie Rockhounding, tell him I said, Hi mate. Gotta go, this was too much fun.😂😂😂😂
Keep Safe & Keep Rockin ( keep away from "Yowies", apparently they can be temperamental at times)
Haha this had me laughing, yeah im hoping to spend a lot of time out at thay spot!! Hopeful for some good yields!
Would be awesome to pick with ya someday ! I’m always out walking the shore and rivers I hope I run into ya :)
Oh man that would be so cool!! Shoot me an email, maybe we can coordinate something someday!
I would love to see you go back there if you found that in 30 min imagine what you could find in a day
Right?! How awesome would that be!
Tbh ....im already guilty of being subscribed to you both😅
Ahhh thanks!!! Appreciate that!
Maybe the drilled out rock is from a dynamite blast?
When you happen upon rocks..in running water..with a high algae content that you refer to..its nutrient laden..I might suggest you wash your hands..as it's typical of upstream sewage discharge..quite common on many rivers and streams in ne minnesota
The red bits should be garnet.
Oh really?!?! I had no idea we had garnets in MN, so cool, ill have to do some more digging into that for more info! Cool 😎
The rock at 12: 50 looks like small peices of cedar branches fossilized around the rock
It does, I wonder if thay happens?!
I'm still playing catch up on your videos.
I appreciate you watching the videos!
Ty.i share.much love all
Thanks so much!
See any fish while you were there?🤔
I actually didn't, I was looking too
Hahaha i love the collab with em what’s he’s name..let’s call em Aussie father😁
Where did you buy your rock scoop? Can't find it on your Amazon Storefront.
Oh i know, I've tried finding it for there but I can't find it! It's on Kingsleynorth.com and search 42" treasure scoop. Let me know if you can't find it 👍
@@AgateDad Thanks. I live in Washington State but I've been to North House Folk School in Grand Marais for a Timber Frame Class and recognize some of the coastline of Lake Superior. Plus, my Grandpa was born in Monticello, MN! Really enjoy the Channel! And now I'm going to order a Treasure Scoop!
Awesome, on all of that!! I love grand marais!
Looks like Carnelian and quartz
Is carnelian translucent?
I know, i just know that the red one with quartz i found isn't translucent, so its probably not. I believe it to be some sort of host rock, not sure if its basalt because its color..i can't remember the other kinds of host rock you can find along the north shore.
Go back!
