  • For this video I am polishing an Lake Superior agate nodule from its rough state without bands to a polished specimen. Let me know what you think it turned out to be!
I polished this agate with a dremel rotary tool and a flex shaft attachment. Using grinding diamond bits/600 grit diamond bits. I also use wet sandpaper from 1000 grit up to 3000 grit and finish with cerium oxide.
    THANKS FOR WATCHING EVERYONE :)

Awesome video! You did really well polishing that agate! Stoked that the package got to you in one piece 😁 The large agate that was polished was from the Ashburton river here in New Zealand and the carnelian is the one I found out looking for crab fossils. The dark pet wood was from the Conway river. Keep the videos coming, love them!

My daughter is now a seasoned Ol pro at rock hounding , and just last night on the way up to the lake, she makes a quick pit stop off the freeway and finds two full near palm sized beautiful agates, (slightly smaller than your new parallel /gravity banded bluish colored one) nonchalantly tosses them on the bed! She doesn’t understand ppl can search a lifetime for these beauties.. thank you for sharing !!

Good day AD and thank you for the new content post from up there in the northern part of the states! Got to wake up and watch a video before facing the day, which is much appreciated!👍 Really am enjoying watching others go through the process of exposing the hearts of these magnificent chunks of earth! Regardless of rock, mineral or fossil!!! 😁 Another idea...if I may would be to recommend getting a set of jewelers magnifying glasses, I know for me it really truly helped me see all the scratches at each level and have become dependent on them to get the best quality depth of finish to the stone but sometimes going to 30x magnification is just overdoing it.🤣 (it looks almost like there is an 1/8" of glass layered over the top of the specimen when done to 15000-30000 grit) Super spectacular and generous gifts from Mamalambo, great channel with lots of content to spend a whole day geeking out on....much like what you are doing with your channel sir with lots of content, kudos and good stuff all around, thanks for the hard work making it happen for us nerdy tubers. Off to make the dough, hope you have a super week ahead my friend~

I agree, love seeing their innards lol or hearts to sound more poetic 😅 it really is fun slowly getting better polishing, that one was tough because it had those sagenite streaks..? In it, and made it almost look like pitting on the face and other parts looks like scratches but it was those stinking lines! Threw me off a lot! Good times though, had a lot of fun working with it. Thanks so much for watching bud!

Great video, I'm trying to get into surface polishing agates as I just got my first diamond saw/ table top tile saw and have literally hundreds of agates from MN and SD, cut in half with the ruff edge that comes with the saw cut. Bubble gum, LSA, praire, and even some Fairburn agates. Did you really hand polish one small agate for two hours? Where are you purchasing your powder polish for surface polish. Any hints would be great. Some much to figure out, not sure where to start, thanks!

If you whet that sand paper and put it on a piece of flat glass it will stick right to it. It’s also easier to us a larger piece of sand paper.

At 10:52 when you held that stone a certain way, it looked almost like a winter scene. the quarts at the top looked like an iceberg background and the blue lines on the bottom looked like frosty water in still motion

And contest aside, I think you should send Mamlambo (in New Zealand) a package of Lake Superior Agates & some of our very own Upper Mid-West, U.S.A. petrified wood! I'll help gather, and contribute to your package if you'd like! & thanks for another informative video! I'm guessing you've got a "mossy"... But Idk. Agate Dad - Half the fun of cutting is socializing with like-minded cutters. You can compare and learn, and rockhounds are the best people in the world. Club meetings are only once a month, usually considered a great excuse to get away from house and spouse, pre-covid at least.
