    What brand of rock did you use?

  • @ThePaintingClinic
    @ThePaintingClinic  11 років тому +2

    Hobby stores mainly. Milliput, A+B Epoxy, Magic Sculpt and more are all brands. You can also try plumbers putty from DIY stores, which supposedly is the same thing. Look for almost any putty that is two-part.

    @carversoftball Brookhurst Hobbies. Many online stores carry Malifaux as well.

    @gsquared7 Of course you can make them any size you want. I was thinking of an old castle which used fairly large stones.

    AWESOME tutorial. You rock! Would love to see more Malifaux painting vids when/if possible. Thanks!

    Balled up tinfoil works pretty good for stone texturing too. Just roll it over the putty.

    I did something like this just in the last week but I used crinkled up aluminum foil. Works great and was actually faster than the rock method. :)

    Got to shop at lowes for inexpensive epoxy putty. It is in the adhesive section near primers. 4oz tube which is about an inch in diameter and either 4 to 8 inches long depending on how much you want to spend. Just look at lowes web site for epoxy putty. Make sure you pick out one that says paintable!

    @TheSeasonman1 There is no sculpting fur video. It was more of an off-hand remark. It's easy to do. Just apply the putty and score it dozens of times with the back of a hobby blade.

    Awesome tutorial. May have to re-base my Ikiryo which is only primed so far! One question, aren't the stones/bricks awfully large considering the scale of the figures?

  • @DamianCade

    I notice in a lot of your videos you have your miniatures affixed base-and-all to an old paint pot. You can then hold the mini by the pot. How are you doing this?

    @mgm96 Not only am I not an expert at sculpting, I'm not even a beginner. Apart from doing fur, which is easy, I've never sculpted. I can make a stone base, not sculpt a face. Hey! I rhymed!

    So how well do the stamps work with greenstuff or milliput. Also is Alumilite Amazing Mold Putty(yellow/white putty) comparable to the 5 minute putty(the stuff in the video) for stamp making.

    • @ThePaintingClinic
      @ThePaintingClinic  9 років тому

      +Raistlarn I don't like the hard, rubber texture of green stuff, but it would work. Miliput is similar to Magic Sculpt. The new version sold by alumilite appear to be the same in all but color.

    so how do you put the mini on that base? Do you cut off the bit of metal on the bottom that sticks in the base (don't know what that bottom part is called)?
    Or is this method for plastic minis only?

    • @ThePaintingClinic
      @ThePaintingClinic  10 років тому +4

      Cut it off and pin and glue it.
