  • Arm stroke is the most important in freestyle swimming. Make sure to do an arm stroke with a high elbow position. This will make your swimming technique correct and will give you much speed.

      I'm sorry that you missed out on swimming in your younger years. I would join your local ymca and take some lessons. It will take a few hours to learn and many more to feel comfortable. ( don't get discouraged by the kids that swim much better than you ) that last bit is advice for me lol 😆

      @fsunflower3919 join your ymca if you have one and get some lessons. Swimming has been a lofe saver for me and my mental health this winter.

    Tysm for this! My coach won’t stop yelling at me to speed up and saying “YOU’RE GOING TO SLOW” won’t magically make me be micheal Phelps 🤦‍♀️

      Sorry about that..he/she is not a good coach if they can't help you correct your form.

      That's not a coach, or instructor then. I hope you're not still paying them to yell at you. A good coach is an instructor as well, they guide you to fix your mistakes and improve yourself. Not just lecture you and tell you you're doing bad.

    I have been studying freestyle 1 month, and have never seen this important detail in any video.

    • @Queenfisher444
      @Queenfisher444 Рік тому +5

      It’s well discussed keep watching and you’ll find it. It’s not something you should be super worried about in your first month though, the two best things to start with are getting your body in a straight line at the surface and getting your head all the way down into the water. Worry about the catch after you’ve been swimming 3-6months.

    The best tip I got from this video is that you should use your back muscles to pull down. I was using my triceps. Wore out quickly in the water.

    Was swimming today and desperately tried to freestyle while splashing around in the water like an idilt. Then it just clicked, somehow my body just found the way to do it and now I'm beginning to freestyle for 12.5 meters or so without breathing. I'm really excited to learn more!

    • @peter_parkour
      @peter_parkour 9 місяців тому +1

      Don't bring your head up, you will sink and swallow water. Just turn your head to the side, with your whole body as you bring your arm up for a breath. Do it on the side of the pool first so you get a feel for it before you actually try.

    • @eriife7512
      @eriife7512 8 місяців тому

      And yes , try to breathe on just one side ... Trying to desperately breathe on both sides will make you drown
      Just a side and automatically when your arm break surface, you will be able to breathe
