  • Let's go Mudlarking! Watch the amazing historical finds picked up on the Thames foreshore by Si-finds and his muddy buddy Matt. It's rich picking as Si finds coins dating back to the 17th Century. It's unbelievble what can be found on the Thames of old London town.

Chill Bill always talks about the double turnwa's . Now I know what they look like. Cool. Great finds. I cleaned out my old European coin box (a cigar box from sometime in the 30's) and I have several British coins that are relatively new. Some 1 pound coins and some from the Bahamas, India, and Ireland. So pretty. Our coins are boring.

What a good luck inna muck day Si Finds! A great and fun video! One of these days I'm a comin over there, get a permit and try my luck inna muck! Don't have the range of items here, that 1774 half penny would be a great find here but common there. But what great detail that copper has, amazing. And being sloshed about all those years. Some good copper I'd say. There is thousands of years old Native artifacts that can be found but with no till farming, fertilizers and acid rain, it isn't as easy as before. Along the Susquehanna River life can be traced back 15,000 years but with the dam system there, lots is under water. An archaeologist friend of mine found a beautiful Susquehannoux Native clay pipe. Some stone pipes, axes, knives, drills, banner stones and other stone artifacts have been found and other sacred objects. Life was so abundant along the Susquehanna that only 3-4 hours a day was required to sustain ones self. The rest of your time was spent being your creative self and thus, high end arts. When the first traders arrived, Dutch and French, metal items are found and points went from stone to metal. Lots of trade beads and some Native made from clays, bones shells and the like. It is believed there were approx. 2,200 tribes in America when Europeans first arrived. But our ancestry and the artifacts left by them is a very interesting and historical adventure indeed. Thanks Kindly to you Guys with your great finds. I'll bet Nic the Thames Pipe Queen was a bit envious of your pipe collection for the day, eh? Love, Light,Peace and Gold inna Muck! DaveyJO in Pa.

Si-finds Thames Mudlark No problem, and I would say my best find is a 1699 William the third half penny. Found it on my grandparents property in Connecticut. I’m happy with anything from the 1700’s that has a visible date. I’ve found more rare coins like a 1793 Liberty cap large cent, but I prefer coins from the time before America was independent.

The white glass piece that you said looked like a handle could be the well worn remains of a penny lick for ice cream. I have seen some examples with the same shape, but higher sides in the concave area (probably broken off). I looked them up after hearing about them in one of Nicola's videos when she was out mudlarking with some friends.
