Escaping The Airport Chaos! Exploring the Amex Centurion Lounge in Vegas

- Airports and Travel has becoming quite busy lately and I certainly don't blame people for wanting to travel and explore again! I've been caught in the Airport chaos such as in Toronto's Pearson Airport and many others. This time, flying out of the Vegas Airport, I was prepared in case anything unforeseen interruptions or delays happen.
I've taken precautions to arrive early, checked my insurance coverage, and made my contingency plans. Alas, there were still flight delays, but thankfully I got one of those credit cards that cover you for extended delays and give you access to the airport lounges for a better way to wait for your flight.
The American Express card I got allowed me to enter a few lounges at the Vegas Airport and I chose to try the Centurion Lounge that I've heard so much about. It was certainly a delight and continuing a Vegas theme, there were open bars, and of course, a buffet! Not an extravagant one, but a clean, well stocked buffet with great comforting dishes; exactly what's needed while awaiting for travel.
To my surprise, there were showers available as well, and I can attest that nothing feels a good as a nice warm shower right before boarding a plane. Thank you for joining me as I explore that lounge.

Your videos really brighten my day. From the way folks had installed themselves on the lounge sofas it looks like there were some long delays. But at least there was a nice buffet to help pass the time 😄

Sorry to hear your flight was delayed to him but I’m glad that you were able to catch it that lounge looked really nice and it is just what you need especially the shower who doesn’t want to be fresh when they get on the plane.

We went there! Thank you for the recommendation. It was super crowded but the food was awesome and we loved the coffee machine! Your cookies looked much better than ours but they did taste good and as my son always says to me, "Mom, it's taste that matters." You're the best, Tim!

Nice, unexpected video, and one of the better lounges. Question Tim, what kind of card gives you access to the lounges? I never thought to ask about them, I only get in with first class ticket. Yeah, the American Express platinum card and the Centurion card are typically good for traveling as you get lounge access and travel coverage insurance, etc. There is a high annual fee though. In case interested, I left a referral Link in the video description.

I had to take a tram from a distant gate just to get to this lounge lol. I didn't get to try the food (since I was still full from a buffet at the strip lol) but this lounge was so nice!
It's always nice to sit and relax at a lounge for a drink or too.. having fun to peruse what they have on the buffet table 😋

I think the shower made all the difference... I had the American Express card.. I think it's one of the perks for the travel cards...such as the platinum card

Great video Tim! What a great way to pass the time in the airport. I've never been in an lounge, so here's a question for you...did you have to pay for food and/or the shower usage or is it included with access?

Yeah, everything was included... The travel credit cards just lets you go in for "free"... But there is a cost to "free", as these credit cards generally charge a higher annual fee. 😉. But it does cover all the travel necessities and insurance coverage.

Think the Centurion lounge definitely justifies having the card. Wish they still allowed a plus one to be brought in at no extra cost. Also Tim the drip you ended up getting at the bar is an Aperol Spritz very refreshing indeed
That’s why Amex has changed the policy, people complain it’s too crowded all the time, check all the Centurion lounges during the rush hours or day time, almost every one of them is almost full.

Do they scan/swipe your card upon entry ? Or just look to see if if you have one ? I only ask cause I canceled mine but the expiration date is still good 😅
They need to rethink thier menu items. All the food was definitely a human gas bomb!🤣 it's nice to have perks!

What airline was this and the lounge was so luxurious! Wonder how much did this lounge cost you. Or perhaps it was for first class passengers only.
Oh it was just a discount airline, Allegiant. The credit card I have allows you to use the lounges... While they say it's free, you do pay a hefty annual fee 🤔😉
Well, all very nice but have to tell that this is, as per my personal experience in the past years, the minimum standard offering for a lounge compared to what you get in the Senator Lounge of Lufthansa (at least in Europe), and there is also better, the Lufthansa HON membership access to HON lounges, and here it gets REALLY interesting.....the Miles & More membership program, is to me, one of the best in the world, at least for Europe and Asia.

Perhaps you said it and I missed it, but did you find the buffet food selection to be better than if you had just gotten food at an airport restaurant?
Airport food is actually quite good so it's hard to compete. The food at the lounge is still good ... Comforting and tasty
Flight delays and cancellations seem to be happening a lot lately. I'm glad you were able to make use of the time while you waited. The food at the American Express Lounge in Las Vegas wasn't that great to me...except for the cookie...LOL! The food in the airport overseas lounges are so much better. love your videos, remember, use your knuckles vs finger tips when choosing things like the coffee. if you are like my hubby, he constantly puts his fingers on his mouth, as if to rest them, and boom, he can catch something from the germs and bacteria on the machines. im constantly hitting him with hand sanitizer, lol. so far so good for us, through over 2 years of covid and other garbage going around, lol.

Thank you so much.. I think it's just a perk with one of these travel credit cards... When you're at the airport, it lets you go into the lounge and just relax and get a meal and a drink. These credit cards do have quite a high annual fee, so you do end up paying for it in the end.

You just speak to one of the hosts at the lounge and they make sure they have one that's cleaned and ready for you..

Traveling is so much more pleasant with the access granted by Amex Platinum cards. Wait until you get to experience the lounges in places like Japan and Korea. I'll never go back to sitting at the gate waiting for my flights. I'd much rather take a shower, get a foot massage, and drink some premium whiskies. lol

How much is the lounge if you are not an Amex members?
Some lounges will let people pay to go in and I suspect they're around the $50 mark.. there are other lounges that require memberships or specific flight bookings.
For this specific lounge you must be a Amex card holder (platinum or centurion)

Love your videos. But how are you able to eat soooo much and not be 100lbs overweight? When you are at a buffet, moderation goes out the window. Wish I could consume that much good food. :)

No, I do get asked that question quite a lot. I passed by the Coca-Cola store in Vegas and noticed they had many shirts with different languages for different countries.. I thought that was kind of neat and they were also having a sale 😉

Centurian Lounge sucks. They let anyone in there now and it's massively over crowded and it's offerings are poor. It's such a cheesy scene of wannabes and posers. Airports are a lot better now. Main concourse offerings are a lot better.
It did get a bit crowded when I was there..
All the Centurion lounges suck. They're usually a long way from gates, crowded, and not great. Not worth the time. Most airports are better now with better food and drink offerings and lounge like areas in main and open areas. Centurion not worth it in time and hassle.
Don't be so salty that you got denied access or matter of fact denied access to be a cardholder. Haters be haters.
