Frank investigates a murder case at a bank where a robber shot the clerk and then another staff member, Sally, shot the robber. The autopsy, however, shows differently.
Police Squad! is an American television crime comedy series that was broadcast on the ABC network in 1982. It was created by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker, and starred Leslie Nielsen as Frank Drebin. A spoof of police procedurals, the series featured Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker's usual sight gags, wordplay and non sequiturs. While a parody of many television shows and movies, it bore a particular resemblance to the Lee Marvin cop show M Squad (in particular the opening credits) and the late 1960s series Felony Squad. Although the show was canceled after six episodes, it was later followed by The Naked Gun film series from 1988 to 1994. In 2013, TV Guide ranked it #7 on its list of 60 shows that were "Cancelled Too Soon".

I saw an old TV show where the murder was done exactly like this. It might've been M Squad starring Lee Marvin, but I'm not exactly sure. The only difference was the men who died went down quickly, unlike in this scene. Cigarette? Yes I know. Never fails to make me chuckle.

I *just* watched that episode of M squad, and figured that Police Squad was so similar, why not go watch a few and look for similarities. THIS was at the top of the list and played first!
What a coincidence! All these years I never knew the source behind Police Squad.

There been recently a wave of gorgeous fashion models found naked and unconscious at laundromats on the west side. Unfortunately I was assigned to investigate holdups at neighborhood credit unions. I was across town doing my laundry when I heard the call on the double killing.
