Jeep JK Hemi Swap Ep.5 - 8 SPEED SWAP PREP

This video covers everything you need to successfully prep your (8HP70-8HP75) 8 SPEED prior to the installation. If there’s something I’ve missed, head over to Jeep Speed Shop’s UA-cam channel to fill in the blanks. I sourced all my wiring components from HOTWIRE AUTO. They sell an 8 speed kit, which requires less splicing in the cab for your installation.
The purpose of removing the TCM and sending it to Liz at Jeep Speed Shop, is to flash the TCM to utilize the tap shift function. It’s not necessary to operate the transmission, just really cool to have that functionality.

Only required if you have a nub on your torque converter that measures approximately 1.334”

Thanks for being thorough in your videos! You said you got your wiring harness from Hotwire auto but Jeep speed shop flashing your TCM? I figured they would only do this if you purchased their wiring harness? I am looking to go hotwireauto for the wiring also but use jeep speed shop for all the mounts/accessories as you did.

I purchased my wiring kit and all Jeep Speed shop components through Hotwire Auto. He sells JSS parts. He just doesn’t advertise it. Which included:
5.7 wiring harness
8 speed kit (Harness and TCM)
Motor mounts
Steering relocation bracket
B-Plate and shifter floor plate.
If you want tap shift to work, you need to take the computer out of your 8 speed transmission by removing the oil pan and valve body. Send it to JSS so Liz can flash it with a charger tune. I’m not sure if Chris offers that service. I didn’t think to ask at the time. Wouldn’t hurt to ask him while you are ordering your parts. Hope that clears things up. Good luck!

JSS will flash your transmission computer for free. You just have to pay for shipping and have a return shipping label attached.
