Thanks Jerry, If I had seen this video 5 months ago I would have saved $479.00. Now that I need breaks and to turn the hub, I am not going to give my local garage another $479.00 for this. They should have told me the breaks were bad and the rotor needed turning when they were replacing the front bearings, instead they put it all back together as was.
@@j.shoreline6428 the $479.00 was for both sides of front wheels. As it turns out, the front hubs were much more complicated and work intensive (labor $100.00/hr) to remove. Also, a special press was needed to separate the break drum from the wheel assembly. I suggest have a shop do it, but make sure they install new front rotors and breaks at that time. The rear bearings were easy as pie to remove and install. No special tools needed.
Recently acquired a 94 Mercury Capri and all the parts for the bearing are completely gone. The only think left was two rollers out of the bearings the spacer was completely gone. Do you know where I can get another one? Great video by the way.
You may have luck at a Mazda dealer. Someone was making them - not sure if they still are. They are shared with BF chassis mazda - 88/89 323, mercury tracer, and ford festiva
Great video! Only one i have found for mercury capri. Good job and thanks
There wasn't a good video out there so I felt the need to make one

Was $479 for one or two sides? I think I need rear bearings. Do you know if the price is equivalent for the rear?

What are the model number for your inner and outer bearings?
Timkin set 11 for bearing and races inner and outer are both set 11
Timkin 710323 is the outer seal
Timkin 4990 is the inner
Where might I be able to find that preload measuring tool?
I found mine on eBay, presumably an old dealership tool. Someone was reproducing them but I cannot find it at the moment, not sure if they still are
Saw a couple on EBay, used $25.00. It is Ford specific.
LtJerryRigg on UA-cam has a great video on 91-94 Capri bearing and rotor replacement.
