In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off-the-grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, we turned it into our Tiny Home on Wheels and are now traveling!

As a skier for 40 yrs now, if you want SPECTACULAR , come here in the winter ....Especially after a big snowstorm when it clears out and you have a bright sunny day the next day...For me , its my favorite scenario on planet earth...And there is so much to do in the Tahoe area all around the lake whatever time of yr it is and whatever your into....Also some fantastic day trips in the surrounding areas....Truckee, Reno, Carson City, Genoa, and one of my favorites Virginia City....Love that place especially during one of the little annual festivals they have there like the Camel Races (also usually a large bike run) the outhouse races, mountain oyster cookoff...Used to love the Hippie days festival but i dont think they do that one anymore ....

We have a lot of lakes in Northern Minnesota like that...don't bother washing the bus until late June or early July... June is when evergreens everywhere pollinate...I used to wash windows for people at their lake homes I refused to wash them until the end of June because I would just have to do it over again

Try a California duster for those in between cleanings. It removes all loose dust and pollen and you never have to wash or clean it. I've had mine for over 20 years and still going strong. You can do the whole bus in 20 minutes

If you do venture back into Cali during the warmer months I strongly encourage you to spend time in Kings Canyon NP, and to take the Jeep to a place called Hume Lake. It is spectacular, was easily accessible when we were there, but did not feel
    Crowded at all.

I was fortunate to work for a company in Napa back in 2000’s. With our sales meetings in Napa I recall driving up to Lake Tahoe on the weekend. It is by far the most beautiful lake in the US. Emerald bay is breathtaking I’ve stayed in Kings Beach and Incline Village. You guys should take at least a week up there.

I don't know if it's still there, but the Ponderosa Ranch is there at Tahoe. Go down the mountain and go to Carson City...then the best place around...Virginia City. Love it there.

Don and Mela.....You have just experienced one of God's most great works here on earth.....Lake Tahoe. Our family have a cabin in North Lake Tahoe from 1971 to around 2006. It was more of a home than a cabin. The area you chose to visit at Lake Tahoe is one of my favorites....Sand Harbor, Incline Village, etc. It also looks like you might have been around King's Beach too. To fully experience the majority of Lake Tahoe, you'd need about 2 weeks minimum. Another favorite is the hike down to the home in Emerald Bay towards the southwest side of the lake on the CA side. Once again, those views are truly SPECTACULAR. Since the rains and heavy snow pack this last winter, Lake Tahoe is practically filled up again with water. The only place where water goes out of Lake Tahoe is at Tahoe City on the CA on the north end. You can stand on the bridge (Fanny Bridge) and watch the fish. It is the head waters or beginning of the Truckee River that flows out of LT, and flows all the way to Reno, Nevada and beyond and finalizes its trip to Pyramid Lake, NV. I think they are finally offering rafting trips down the Truckee river to Alpine Meadows. Don't forget to make a brief stop at Squaw Valley, the site of the 1960's Winter Olympics. It is very picturesque. If you are in South Lake Tahoe, you can take the gondola ride from downtown up to Heavenly Valley!! Oh, I could go on and on!!!! .....from Russell D. (don't forget to get back and love on your two kitties). (we travel with our two cats in our motorhome too)
