Possible careless shooting by another hunter, who may have started to take him back to his car, then panicked and deserted him? I lived in a farm community and we got drunken hunters on our property far too often. That might explain the missing vest--taken off to assess the wound--and his gun maybe left where the shooting occurred? Cowardly behavior, even if not deliberate. Of course there have also been hunting 'accidents' that were not accidents...
I totally agree. I think it started out as a hunting accident but turned tragically wrong - murder. In the persons panic they dragged him to his car and fled. Sad!

Hmm I'm gonna propose a theory. Mark was accidentally shot by another hunter as a shot to the stomach seems more accidental than say the chest or head. The person freaked out and didn't want to face punishment. They tried to finish Mark off or perhaps knock him out to stop him crying out with blows to the head. They then dragged him to the creek and fled the area. Its just a theory but it seems plausible given the details we know.

MidnightDarknes666 - I completely agree. And the red vest makes me think it was a turkey hunter: if they see a flash of red, they shoot! Great video. I’ve never heard of this case. I wonder why he wouldn’t tell his sister who he was going hunting with? Only telling her someone. I don’t think it’s an unusual question for her to ask. His Sears hunting rifle was found one and a half miles from where his body was located. That doesn’t make sense. Then his car was found fairly close to where his body was located. Strange case. What puzzles me is the removal of his red vest. I can only think of two reasons why anyone would do that, both of which are offensive: a) The vest either contained, or it constituted, some kind of incriminating evidence that the shooter (whether they fired accidentally or deliberately) needed to remove from the scene. b) It was taken as an explicit trophy of the killing, which would narrow it down to murder.
I went back to the 4:45 to look at it. It was cute and made me laugh. It did look like the deer was the killer, a little something fun to see in a tragic story. Thanks for sharing
I don't think it was a hunting accident. They never found the vest anywhere. So that lead me to believe they took it with them to make it as though they did🤔
Can you do a video on Ray Robinson? He was an African-American Civil Rights Activist, Who had traveled to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, in South Dakota, but later vanished.
I think he saw something he wasn't supposed to see. Otherwise why take the effort of moving the body? It almost definitely happened where the gun was found. I think he was also hunting alone. How would the person he was hunting with not know he hadn't told other people who he was with? Very tragic tho and puzzling.
If his sister's testimony that he was going out with somebody slightly mysterious is correct then possibly he was involved with people or things that were more dangerous than he realised. One possibility is that the person he was going out with was a boyfriend or a girlfriend. That person may not have been what Mark thought they were or a third person may have seen them and reacted badly (homophobia &/or jealousy). Sadly, at this distance in time, there's a good chance that the people who knew the truth about Mark's death have themselves taken it to the grave.
Disgusting that a person can do that to another. Wonderful job on the video just a terrible story. More than likely the hunting vest was taken as a trophy. I like this idea but they did say the gun was found a mile and a half away and that he likely bled out in half an hour. He was caked with mud so they thought he was dragged but maybe crawled. I just don’t think he could have crawled that far in half an hour.

It may have taken more than a half hour to walk through those snowy woods, and Mark may have died prior to reaching the place he was found. The shooter then panicked, and abandoned Mark's body near his vehicle. He didn't want to face the consequences, so never told anyone.
What a fine looking young man!! Most murders seem to be done over robbery or a girl. Someone shot him by accident maybe because when your hunting and you hear something moving through brush you get fixated and prepare for game possibly coming into range my friend got shot hunting but lived and still has birdshot in his skin the person was scared and didn't know what to do and left him to die or just a pure cold murderer
poppy flower I agree, we should stick to factory farming our animals, giving them no chance at freedom or a life outside of a cage. People have to eat one way or another.
Who the @$!# shoots a 17 year old? May the demons from hell take their soul down! And if it was an 'accident,' no damn excuse for lousy hunting skills!😠
he got shot over a deer or mistook for one that's why his killer was never caught maybe they don't even know they shot him maybe the drag marks where him running then dragging himself away after getting mistook for a deer no vest after all..
Was it ever determined whether the bullet wound was caused from close range or not? The location of the wound stands out to me - the left side of the stomach just doesn't suggest intentional cold blooded murder, but an accident in which the other hunter panicked and covered their tracks.

Tragically sad poor boy hadn’t had any life experiences 💔💔💔💔RIP mark x
Time to watch
His family lives the past 45 years in hell. Mercy on them
What a shame . Such a young life taken too soon
It does sound like a murderer could still be out there, sweetly told as usual😉
You're almost up to 100K subs! Yahoo!
RIP Poor nipper - died when I was born
Someone shot him by accident maybe because when your hunting and you hear something moving through brush you get fixated and prepare for game possibly coming into range my friend got shot hunting but lived and still has birdshot in his skin the person was scared and didn't know what to do and left him to die or just a pure cold murderer
poppy flower I agree, we should stick to factory farming our animals, giving them no chance at freedom or a life outside of a cage. People have to eat one way or another.
Must be awful for the family to have no answers.
"..leading police to *conclusively conclude* .." 🤔
😏
I feel so, so sad for families that never know... 😢😢😢
Excellent narrator
Who the @$!# shoots a 17 year old? May the demons from hell take their soul down! And if it was an 'accident,' no damn excuse for lousy hunting skills!😠
If I killed someone I couldn't hold the burden if it was an accident it is a long time to hold that burden
Arnold Strickland yes I agree but iF it is accident, I Will not drag him to creek
Man it’s always a middle child. Some theories in the comments are pretty valid.
Never thought of that....good thing to think on
REST IN PEACE 😪😪🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What a sin...seems like he was trying to get to his car and collapsed.
Cute kid :(
What a shame. Thanks DC.💔🦌
Almost to 100K!!!!!
he got shot over a deer or mistook for one
that's why his killer was never caught maybe they don't even know they shot him
maybe the drag marks where him running then dragging himself away after getting mistook for a deer no vest after all..
This sounds like exactly what the killer would say.
Explain his where his rifle was found then?
@@mikebond6328 lol
@@mikebond6328 dunn dunn dunnnnnn !!!
Except they also smashed his head
Why would he keep a secret of who he was going hunting with? Maybe some kind of secret relationship
Sounds like a hunting accident and the person panicked since nothing was taken etc.
Go hunting for the first time alone? I think it would be better to go with experienced hunters to learn
He told his sister he was going with ‘someone.’
Most likely an accidental shooting by a hunter. Sad, but it happens extremely often
good story.
So sad. What a tragedy
Was it ever determined whether the bullet wound was caused from close range or not? The location of the wound stands out to me - the left side of the stomach just doesn't suggest intentional cold blooded murder, but an accident in which the other hunter panicked and covered their tracks.
Good thinking
How sad for the Carlson family! I hope and pray that someday they find his killer and bring him to justice!
